Added 2025-02-14 11:41:41 +0000 UTCSo next chapter on Tuesday....

2025-02-15 19:31:30 +0000 UTCPublic trains would be good. But too much and too rapid a development can cause mass unemployment within the North ... Maybe create new jobs like train engineers that work alongside the automatons

2025-02-15 16:48:32 +0000 UTCare they going to war against the other kingdoms or declare independence?

2025-02-15 14:32:00 +0000 UTCIf u go with trains they could be like the armored and armed trains the Germans and soviet's used in ww2

2025-02-15 13:34:56 +0000 UTCAdding onto the airship idea, why not create fighter aircraft? Specifically ground-attack aircraft (with some aerial combat capabilities for the Dragon Karen across the sea of course) that can be housed and deployed from the airships. Speaking of across the sea, considering Westeros is at war against the Free Cities, what better way to project power by having your own dragons. Only deadlier, faster, and easily mass-produced.

2025-02-15 03:27:31 +0000 UTCOh here's another idea, modified steam powered colossus that can be piloted. Like the guymelefs from the anime escaflowne.

2025-02-14 20:31:49 +0000 UTCAlso, just a side note, for defenses/ship fighting, you might consider mortars as ranged artillery. The first mortar in the western world used was against the Spanish by Muslims of Al-Andalus in 1250, they were highly simplified weapons, yet extremely effective in sieges and defense as they were easy to transport and use. On ships they were highly effective at dismantling/disabling ships at long ranges compared to the front cannons of a ship with even grapeshot or chain shot. Just a consideration towards using the mortar. Also check out first muskets in medieval times, they were hand cannons. Just miniature cannons on sticks that you lit and pointed and hoped it would hit.

2025-02-14 19:37:38 +0000 UTCPersonally, I think they should have airships developed. If steam automatons have been developed, it makes no sense for there to be no blimp airships.

2025-02-14 15:13:34 +0000 UTCHave him terraform the coastline/beaches of the North until they look and feel like tropical beaches. Have him also put towns and hidden heaters so that even in the depths of winter, people can still go out and swim or sunbathe to their hearts content.

2025-02-14 13:05:49 +0000 UTCBetter sawmills, quarries and some such. Yes the spiders do it. But if they get actual good tools to go along with it. Also propper mills and lathes.

2025-02-14 13:03:21 +0000 UTCWith air ships he could use dwemer tech to replace the hydrogen gas used to make it less explosive.
Zarian878
2025-02-14 12:19:58 +0000 UTCI heavily agree with the airship idea. His cannons already have the magical power of dragon fire (or more?), now he only needs the air superiority and he'll be good against pretty much everything in this world. No need to fend off pirates if you can sail on the clouds, no need to fight against armies if you can rain death on them, no need to break down castle walls or siege them when you can just get past their defenses. Airships invalidate all pretty much all martial power in Planetos, with the exception of guerrilla tactics like those of the Dornishmen on the borders, but the MC is not on a war of conquest, so this doesn't matter, and even if he was that's what automatons are for.

2025-02-14 12:11:55 +0000 UTCDo you think we should consider airships or dirigibles? Dwemer did build airships, so maybe some steampunk designs.

2025-02-14 11:59:09 +0000 UTCThe south wanted some of his technology, why not have him sell or trade steamboats or some earlier form of tech; he could leverage this for some big ask. I know he is using magic for communication but he could also create the telegraph which would be useful for others outside his inner circle. - keeping the technological superiority but advancing westeros as a whole and sticking one to the gray rats.
Bladesunder
2025-02-14 11:55:17 +0000 UTCFor the trains you wouldn't need magic. There was a train built so that horses ran or walked on a treadmill, which moved the wagons. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Impulsoria Something that could be given to the other kingdoms while the North keeps the magic trains.
