The edited tv version the simulcast the viz manga have always used paramythia. Paramythia or παραμύθια is greek for "fairy tales".

The great anime council would have me exiled if they heard me say this ...but I didn't really enjoy Cowboy bebop, Naruto, or Deathnote, and dropped them after a couple of episodes. And I'd hate to commit to something before I knew that I'd enjoy it. We're already locked in for 1000+ episodes of One Piece, so I really don't mind some newer stuff like Kaizen, while this is ongoing. (zero complaints on OnePiece tho, I'm loving every second of it)

2024-08-31 01:25:36 +0000 UTCThat's kind of how it's used in One Piece, but it's not really what it means. You can actually use 'nakama' even if you're not particularly close or good friends. It just means ~comrade, teammate, fellow, associate, colleague, companion, etc. depending on context. It does carry the meaning of being on a shared mission like you mentioned, but it doesn't imply any sort of deep personal relationship. It's actually quite versatile and can be used to describe someone on a group project at school or even members on a sports team. When Luffy answers being 'namaka' as a reason for doing something. He's not saying I'm doing it because we're friends ...it's more like ~because we're in this together. Edit: When I say "That's kind of how it's used in One Piece", I mean they only really use it in contexts where people could also be consider close friends. Calling someone 'family' (kazoku), or even kyoudai (siblings) is actually much stronger bond. This is used among other groups in One Piece ...which have yet to be introduced, so I'll leave it at that.

But also, When work time is over, nakama hang out together, it means they're friends too, not just coworkers. And, They live in the same place, they eat together like a family - they live on the ship the Going-merry. Also they back up each other and help each other, they are actual family. Their blood brothers & sisters. And finally they're in a crew on a mission. They pull together toward the same goal. In a typical family, each member goes to work in a different place and their work is not about a big mission. But nakama sleep and eat together, and their work is the mission. It's 24hrs every day mission. The term nakama combines it all - coworkers, friends, family, and a mission - to make Luffy king of the pirates.

He said to Nami basically, don't lose your composure, you're nakama with one who will become king of the pirates. He's telling her to stand tall. I'm sure others have covered it before but I shall now describe what it means to be nakama. It means friends, yes. It means part of the crew. It means like family but with an important additional key ingredient - it means you are on the same mission. Like you are all working together on a project that will change the world. In the straw hat crew, they're on this grand adventure that we are watching. Let's compare why nakama is one step higher than family - okay a family does have a goal that they work on together and that is to be a family, create bonds, make a home. Yes it's a good goal, but it's not like a goal of building a successful multi-million dollar empire - usually only 1 member in the family is doing that kind of work. Unless... you're in one of those family business empires... like I don't even know, like the family in the show "Weeds" ? (Edit - not a great example). So nakama means you're in a family empire (or equivalent). So we can put it in this order of less importance on the left to greater importance on the right. acquaintances - co-workers - friends - family - nakama So Luffy was telling Nami to stop panicking, you are nakama to a crew who aspire to reach the ultimate of goals. He was secretly instructing her to save the day - to be nakama means to pull toward the same goal and to work with. She is to help Luffy even if she can only cheer.

And then a poll with more recent anime so you guys can get a taste of anime across the decades. Otherwise people will just keep picking what's fresh in their mind and what's most popular and they love now which isn't fair to you both not that they aren't great anime but nice to experience the originals. Like I'd suggest watching Trigun, samurai champloo and cowboy bebop all absolute masterpieces and drove anime forward and into the west x Just my opinion, love you guys reactions and the community you have both cultivated is great so congratulations for all you have achieved already x

I was thinking of this in terms of if I ever wanted to rewatch their reactions and having it broken into arcs with playlists that are 25 or 50 videos long is much easier than one that is 1000 videos is all. Trying to find the opening was simply the catalyst for discovering the "problem" of the long playlist.

Some people will be annoyed that maybe the first Reverse Mountain episode is in East Blue since it might've fallen into the episode splits that way, but just do your best. And in Reverse Mountain's case, it covers Crocus and Laboon's little story and the introduction of Miss Wednesday and Mr. 9 so it isn't just them going up and down the mountain. PSS: Yes... I made it longer... I'm so sorry...

I was going back to see which episodes you had reacted to the openings on and noticed that my browser had a hell of a time loading the OP episode playlist after maybe the 5th 'Load More' request. I'd recommend going back and splitting the playlists into their major arcs just to keep the playlist length under control. You might also want to further split it by Edited/Full Length but that's just a suggestion. With how long OP is, probably want to do this now before it gets even longer. Currently, the way most people would assume the break would work would be something like this: East Blue - start thru Loguetown Alabasta - Reverse Mountain thru Alabasta Current - Jaya thru ?? Best to keep newest stuff simply as 'current' just so you don't know where it might go and then you can rename it once people let you know something like 'hey, you can take the playlist from current and do "Jaya thru ____" for a new arc playlist. Sorry for the LONG post

Can't know for sure which one is right tho, it happens a lot when translating from Japanese and it's different alphabets (there are other stuff in one piece that we called one thing for ages and then Oda suddenly writes it in English and it's very different from what we had been using - translators can often only make guesses. Dracule Mihawk for example was initially being written as Juraquile way back in the day)

As for 'changing forms', it depends on the power. Examples: Mr. 5 can blow stuff up but can't change his body. Wapol on the other hand can choose to change his body. And Zoans all change forms by definition.
