Ever since the first few episodes of the show where Eren vowed to kill all titans with that psycho look in his eyes I never had a good feeling about him, and all of his actions in this last season just confirms the suspicions I had about him all this time. Going back in time and insisting to his father to kill the children? As crazy as that concept is, It's not out of alignment with how I've felt about Eren.

It's really cool to see you guys enjoy this episode!! This was honestly my fav in the entire series, so it's great to finally see what you two thought (and how your brains totally imploded). The episode basically reveals to us that the series adopts a philosophical interpretation of time known as "Eternalism" or "block time theory", which pretty much suggests that the idea of time being something that flows is incorrect because space-time (which is simply the three dimensions of space that we know, plus the additional dimension of time) is actually something that doesn't change. In other words, eternalism says we shouldn't classify time using "past", "present", or "future" because those are actually happening at the same time, simultaneously. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eternalism_(philosophy_of_time) What's interesting is that modern arguments for eternalism use what's known as "special relativity" as a basis, which was developed by Einstein in the early 20th century. Interestingly enough, the story of the Marleyans vs the Eldians is pretty similar to the story behind the Holocaust and Nazism (where the Nazis thought they were a superior race to the Jews, which was their justification for throwing them into internment camps), and this also happened sometime in the early 20th century. So you can see that AoT has a lot of early 20th century influences. And if you think about this through the lens of history, you could even say that AoT is a story that could only have been told in the 21st century, during this exact moment we live in, because of how reliant it is on modern ideas. I think that's pretty cool! Hopefully that adds on to y'all's appreciation of this show!

The next one is the pivotal moment the entire series has been building toward since Erin first looked out beyond the ocean. Love watching new viewers experiencing the roller coaster from start to finish.

Yeah, exactly. The Attack Titan itself doesn’t have a magic ability to transcend time. It’s all because Eren was in the paths with Zeke, as the Attack Titan. And since time doesn’t really exist like normal there he is able to send these memories to his previous inheritors. And Joaquin, yeah, that’s pretty much the memory Eren sent him. He was just about to inject Grisha and Eren chose to send him the memory of Grisha injecting Eren.

Alan Bun

Haha it's kind of funny how you two can't resist watching the next episodes. To think we had to wait A WHOLE WEEK back in the day to see what happens next. It was torture to say the least

WodanarFogala

so Eren sent memories to Eren Kruger, he told Grisha if you want to save Mikasa and Armin... and then before Eren was injected he told if you want to save Mikasa and Armin... 🤯

Joaquin garcia

"I have The Founding Titan's powers in my hands." Dad joke... ......Oh. My. Gosh. I never put that together in my head. I'm dead.

Rainy Days

"The Rumbling... Is Coming."

Rainy Days

Fyre, thats incorrect. By touching Zeke, Eren could use founding titan ability in him to talk, indirectly though, to Grisha. Sending future memory to past is just Attack titans ability. Which is why founding titan inheritors did not know about it.

PKS

The crescendo is upon us - cant wait!

I think u missed the moment when they showed historia's hand and Eren kissing it. u were looking at each other. not that I blame u cuz this is all overwhelming. It just puts a time stamp on when Eren saw this memory (remember season 3 finale?)

Ahmed Alnajar

better than when I first watched it, I had to watch the episode twice to understand 80% back then XD

Ahmed Alnajar

And also, if Grisha went to the chapel originally, he would have fought Uri and not Frieda. Crazy timing.

Rashad T

Yeah, if Rod Reiss died then Kenny would have killed Historia in S3. And I didn't even catch that Zeke had the Founding Titan literally in the palm of his hand LMAO.

Its also important to note that the only reason the Attack Titan can send memories to the past is because of his contact with Zeke. Without the Yeager brothers meeting at the Paths, the Attack Titan wouldn't have the ability. The only reason the Attack Titan transcends time is because it's the only Titan that visited it's past inheritors.

fyre

The attack titan sends memories to the past.

Theo Traumato

to save Mikasa and Armin was Grisha's line, before he gave Attack Titan power to Eren. How and why Eren would send that memory to Kruger.

PKS

Such a rewarding reaction and discussion, excited for you both to see more!!

Russell Gambardella

You guys mentioned this, but an important point is that it's not that people with the Attack Titan can choose to see the future whenever they want. The founder can view prior holder’s memories through the paths since they’re all connected, and Eren, as the Attack Titan, is able to send his memories to previous holders of the Attack Titan, selectively. If you remember back to when Kruger mentioned Mikasa and Armin, that's because Eren sent memories to him through the paths, and in this episode, Eren is essentially sending Grisha his own memories from his own point of view, back to his Dad (which is why Grisha was able to see Zeke because he's seeing things from Eren's point of view) with a combination of the Founder and Attack Titan power. So yeah, you're right. Eren basically saw that his Dad didn't actually kill the founding Titan and was disgusted that he wasn't pushing forward to get revenge for what happened to his sister, so used the Founders Power to interact with Grisha to convince him to do it and by showing Grisha memories of what has happened and what's still to come. It's why Eren has had such a different look this season, because he's had memories of the future since he kissed Historia's hand at the end of Season 3 (didn't want to mention it until now as that would have been a spoiler). I mentioned this in a previous comment but didn't explain the context, but it's my view that when Sasha died, Eren laughed when he heard that she said "Meat", not because he found it funny, but because he had already seen memories of the future and knew it was going to happen, so Connie confirming it is essentially Eren laughing in disbelief because the things he has seen are actually coming true. Also, it's worth noting that the paths are why the Titans seem to spring out of nowhere in hardly any time. Time doesn't exist for the founder in the paths, so she takes years to craft the Titan shifters bodies each time they are required, but to everyone else it seems like it happens in an instant.

Alan Bun

Hint: The way time is dealt with in this show, specifically for Eren, is non-linear. In other words the past, present and future are all occurring simultaneously. If you attempt to reason it out using a linear perspective of time it won't jive because it leaves you with paradoxes.

Drift3r

Wow, top tier reaction!! Once again proving why y'all are the best. I can't wait for the rest, and thanks for the consistent quality content! Best sister duo 🔥🔥

IQLou

Most genuine reaction I've from reactors to this episode! This show does a really good job getting viewers attached to pretty much all these characters. Good discussion as well keep up the good work!

Jare Bear

Great reaction, and great job figuring out the gist of the attack titan/memories mechanics. I don’t want to potentially spoil anything by saying much more, looking forward to the rest.

Kevin Clark

next episode asap:)))

Guru Raj

Goated show!!

tyria

Ohh...Kiss prediction is spot on! She's scarily good at grasping at all indications of what's to come.

Kink Baron

It is VERY confusing. So the current Eren, or Eren from the future, is manipulating Grisha from the past, from when Eren was just a kid. Hell the way I see it Eren brainwashed Kruger too. The reason I believe that is the things he says to Grisha this episode. Remember what Kruger told Grisha? He said, you keep moving forward, even in death, even after death. This is a story you started isnt it? And that is EXACTLY what Eren is saying too. And I don't think Eren is saying that because of Kruger, I believe it is the other way around. So anyway, Eren is manipulating Grisha from the past, and to do that, he and Zeke had to come here, in the future, into the memories. And that way Eren can manipulate Grisha from the past. Time is just a fucked up concept but they do it so good in this show.

Lasse Bjørkmo

"lets watch the next one" cant wait to see how that went lol

Eric Newton

i love your reactions ! cant wait for next episode.. it will blow your mind !

JuiceTv

For the next episode, I want you both to take a look at the title and then compare it to the very first episode in the series. Surprise!
