There just aren't enough good things we could say about this show. Loving the music, animation, and story so much. Historia's proclamation at the end there was NOT what we were expecting! Can't wait to see where this goes!

The context was very clear, that she was rejecting her imposed "duty" and instead live her life for herself with that flashback to Ymir. If taking on that duty, meant she can save humanity. Rejecting that duty would mean, she become humanity's enemy #1 for abandoning the chance to save humanity for her own selfish reason.

Probably the only way to watch it cold, now, is to watch it _only_ once and then forget about it, don't even discuss it. Maybe even only watch it separately. It's tough because it was a surprise, but folks have already mentioned it.

2024-03-06 23:12:23 +0000 UTCHonestly, her "humanity's enemy" thing is because Eren is like "kill me to save humanity, as it should have been" and her dad's also like "We have to save humanity by making them forget" so her reaction to that is to remember Ymir's words and (somewhat hyperbolically) say eff humanity, I'm going to do what I think is right and eating my friend and just doing the same thing Reisses have done for 100 years is just not it and I don't care if that makes me the direct opposite to everyone else asking me to just do stuff "for the sake of humanity". It's hard to get all that if you're watching one episode at a time, but kudos to you guys for paying attention and taking the words seriously, as you should.

She already went through it with her mom, and now her Dad came back into her life claiming to care about her. She must have always wanted that. She honestly thought she had her father back. Just to find out he was trying to use her as a tool and force her into eating her own friend. She probably doesn't really want to destroy humanity, but at this point she's seen how cruel humans like her parents can be, and doesn't know where else to direct her anger. You can't really blame her for blowing up like that

That's exactly why the Titan that ate Eren wayyyyy back in S1 ep5 didn't transform. It swallowed Eren whole without biting through his spine.
