WOW there was A LOT of dialogue to process in this episode. We didn't touch on nearly enough of it for our outro... Our brains were genuinely fried from information overload. But as much as we want to hate Bert and Reiner, we still just can't. It was confusing/upsetting seeing all of them in different kinds of distress. Especially Reiner with his guilty conscience/memory issues. Can't wait to know more!

Reiner's statements are confusing because he has a split personality disorder caused by PTSD. That's why Bertholdt always kept/keeps giving him worried looks because he was just barely holding it together during season 1 and up to these episodes in season 2 before his big reveal.

2024-02-10 19:39:21 +0000 UTCTo me while he had great moments he didn't do anything compelling enough as a character alone that others hadn't already achieved in their moments, he didn't have his own identity in the story just yet. Sasha had that great episode earlier in the season, Ymir was getting development, Jean had great stuff during Season 1, Reiner just felt like an archetype at the time. When he's revealed as the Armoured Titan I was interested to see what they'd do for his character but it wasn't however until this episode that it cemented to me that he was a character worth getting invested in his story and character arc. He broke away from being the strong guy archetype into something more layered and compelling.

2024-02-09 19:53:30 +0000 UTCthe tragedy of child soldiers...Annie Bert and Reiner were 11-12 when the walls went down they have spent almost as much time with the survey corp then where ever they were before..and what does a child soldier/warrior know at 11 and how f-ed up would they be with what they have done... if you think about it preteens who have done this kinda thing...bert being so quite, reiner having a personality disorder and Annie being so cold and just trying to get way...i mean with no therapy they are handling it incredible well

2024-02-09 16:05:15 +0000 UTCSo as it's explained, Reiner and Bertholdt are waiting for the sunset to move again since the titans would be "asleep" because they are too weak to continue right now but they didn't expect the Scouts to be here so soon (as in "how did they figure out where we went so quickly"), with an hour left before the sun sets, it might be too late for them to escape and they might have to risk it by retreating earlier than expected and fight the titans on their way out or stand their ground and fight the Scouts

2024-02-09 14:43:40 +0000 UTCAn infodump that withdraws information. S2 has it's moments of action but is far more filled with exposition and foundation building for the upcoming seasons. If you're still jotting notes down, S2 is the time to do it the most because while this is all confusing now it will make sense later. Reiner started as a forgettable side character for me in S1 and half of S2, even the twist reveal didn't fully make me give a shit about him as a character. However starting from this episode he becomes one of the most interesting characters in the entire show.

My god if you knew what we know now you would understand why bert is choosing to stay quiet i would be like him too 😅 Eren in this episode is my favorite i just love his screams , his voice actor Yuki Kaji is for sure my favorite anime va , you are in for some amazing voice acting from him in the upcoming episodes and seasons
