Edge runner just refers to a merc in CP lore. That goes back to the old TTRPG Cyberpunk 2020. Edge runners is a catch-all term for any merc, whether they're net-runners or solos. Netrunners are exactly what they sound like. They run the net. They essentially have a CPU chipped in via cyberware, along with a bunch of other software. Their bodies heat up a lot while doing it, hence the ice baths. Solos are the shooters and front-line fighters. Kiwi, Lucy, and spider-guy are net-runners. Dorio, Maine, Rebecca, and David are solos.

Even hearing the song in this anime "I Really want to stay at your house" can easily make me break down. Hope ya'll enjoy this show and have a happy new years!

They are also called Edgerunners, because this makes them run on the edge of the law, society and humanity. Lucy is a netrunner, basically a hacker. Netrunners can install quick-hacks in humans, this is what caused the psycho at the end to catch fire. Whenever netrunners need to enter the deep net they need to be cooled down, that's why Lucy was in that ice bath
