edgerunner is a mercenary basically, and Lucy was in the weird ice bath with the cables in her because she is a netrunner, which is like a really advanced hacker. She needs the tub because her body heats up really bad while netrunning like a computer working super hard. If she isn't in it, she can fry her brain.
