I'm posting this here because I'll forget if I don't cos I have some brain damage from an accident and my memory doesn't work properly. My current thinking, and I've only seen this far in the series so please no spoilers either way, is that the main bad guy demon dude, who makes the other demons, actually created the demon slayer corps. Everyone thinks he's the only one capable of creating demons, but we know that's not true because the demon doctor lady created her friend? attendant? apprentice? whatever he is, in order to preserve his life. I think the main demon believed he was the only one who could create demons until long after he created his first (it took demon doctor lady 200 years to become able to do it herself). When he became aware that his earliest demon creations were developing the same ability he lost his mind. He controls the demons because his blood is in them and he knows, therefore, where they are, what they're doing and what they're saying, etc. His blood can literally rise up and kill the host demon at any point, on command. But if there are demons created without his blood then he has no control over them. I think this is when he began to grow paranoid and banned the other demons gathering in groups for fear of them ganging up on him, and he would have started killing any demon he suspected of creating their own demon underlings. Lady doctor demon broke the curse, so that's why bad demon daddy dude is so intent on finding her, and yet struggling to do so. His blood is not in her. She is his biggest threat because he has no control over her and she could, as far as he knows, be raising an army of undetectable demons to take him on. I think he created the demon slayer corps himself to aid him in culling all the extra demons, and especially the ones created by demons other than himself, whom he couldn't detect, and making sure they never grow to become any real threat to him. Just casual thoughts with a small portion of the series having been watched, but I hope it's ok that I shared. I know it's not as if we could have a conversation about it because you all have 4 seasons of knowledge and avoiding spoilers would be impossible, but I like sharing my thoughts while I still remember them lol PS... I only started watching this show to watch along with you two hosts. I loved the first episode but the second and third kinda lost me. I honestly would have given up on the series at that point if I wasn't looking forward so much to watching your reactions. Episode 4 grabbed me again and by now the rest is history that goes without saying I hope lol. I just want to thank you because I genuinely love this series and would have missed it completely without you. Thank you both.
