So in other words you have no response to his points and are just dismissing what you can't refute, you've already typed an essay of your own but when someone does it back, you check out?

Jjop i am loving this conversation but I absolutely will not be analyzing all that, use paragraphs😂 makes it much more realistic for me to find your arguments and counter them.

watch their latest reaction to the last 2 episodes of naruto, eric had that passion you think he is missing

Bob

I think they still enjoy watching the shows they watch. At the same time it is more than just watching shows. They have to work behind the scenes to make the channel successful. Even though they have more editors now I do believe they still have work to do outside of their reactions. They might even put more stress on them because now they have employees they are responsible for and ensure they are getting paid. I don’t think we can underestimate that their jobs while fun for them also likely comes with stress to it. That might just be unavoidable. One thing about BW is when members aren’t feeling a show they drop it. Rick had left Naruto, Sunny, and Vox Machina shows because he wasn’t liking them. Blind Wave stopped reacting to Titans and Young Justice because they didn’t enjoy them. I do think BW at its core does still hold this standard. It is why they still refuse not to do double drops since Avatar the Last Airbender even if fans have begged them to do it, especially after they decided to watch Naruto on their own. I don’t doubt the guys get tired, don’t always have the same spark, or might have times they are meh on an episode. At the same time I think if they truly just weren’t enjoying the shows they have been watching lately then I doubt they would force themselves to watch them, especially Rick, who makes it well known if he just isn’t feeling a show and left it.

You make good points, I disagree though. If your work is watching television and you somehow find your work environment stressful and not “chill” then you are doing something fundamentally wrong. If I had to make a theory, I’d say that blind wave started out authentic and has slowly drifted to a laminated version of themselves. Like a flower to the sun, slow and gradual. Again, just a theory and I could be totally off.

I think the solution might be to cut back on shows then rather having them pick the shows. I feel like with any job that most people eventually do get burned out regardless of how much passion a they have. For BW this job actively prevents them from enjoying shows to watch casually on their own time or with their families. While most people might think that isn't a big deal since it just watching a show, for most of us watching shows is a stress relief from our jobs and the real world. When they cannot watch something they might enjoy because of the channel then it might effect their personal lives where they just want to chill.

The “it’s a business” argument feels a bit flimsy to me. Not to be that guy, but they make a shit ton of money. They just do, it’s no secret. They don’t need to be constantly pressuring themselves by appealing to the biggest crowd. They garnered a following because of their passion and now that the passion is fleeting. They seem to be leaning heavily into whoever will give them the most eyes. Again, it’s smart but what room is left for passion and integrity? On the argument of “the internet will get mad at them”. If you are a content creator you cannot let comments get to you. This is like rule #1. Somewhere along the way I think they got confused about what feedback they should be actually listening to. Their “business” model works super well long-term and on paper which is why I always was impressed by it. Yet now we are seeing the real effects of it. They clung so hard to their consistency and routine that it has become MONOTONOUS for them and especially the viewers. They’ve introduced many new faces to the channel as a way to avoid the burnout (I assume) and I think that is simply running from the issue instead of investigating it. Bottom line these are just my somewhat educated takes from being a fan for so long. Sucks to see tbh.

While i actually agree, the problem with the suggestion of doing more crew picks is that A. They might pick shows that don't get the views, and at the end of the day it's a business, and B. They will definitely get hate from some people asking why they're reacting to something "nobody cares about", in their words. Because that's always what happens when they do crew picks, a lot of the time anyway. Their crew picks will be some more obscure/niche stuff and the comments are filled with "who tf wants to watch reactions to this? You could be watching x, y and z right now instead", this happens especially a lot with the movie polls because they do their own picks more frequently there than with shows. So it's definitely a balancing act.

Agreed

Crusty

I appreciate you asking for clarity instead of demonizing my take. That’s awesome. Maybe more live shows would help, I think more crew picks would help. I know everyone wants their favorite show to be reacted to, I get it. But if people haven’t noticed. Blind wave is actively burning out at the moment. The passion they once had is practically gone and it sucks to see. They need to pick shows they will love and do reactions because they love the show. They seem straight up disillusioned. I don’t care what polls win, I wanna see what they enjoy and want to watch. See that passion come back.

I think the confusion stems from how the first 4 or 5 episodes of this series were originally broken up into 5 minute mini episodes that aired before the show aired. It worked by slowly introducing us to the world, the characters, and setup plots that the show would explore. The Breakout 2 part episode was originally the first two episodes. When the complete series was out on streaming and home release the mini-episodes were combined to form the first few episodes that go before the Breakout episodes to keep the original airing order intended and keep a sense of continuity.

Jjop017

Do you mean they should do more live shows (as in currently airing/ongoing shows) instead of doing polls? Or do you mean find a new system to pick shows?

Jjop017

The problem is that initially the series released a bunch if shorts for the main cast, kinda like backstory episodes. They all lead up to the Breakout episodes, but, from memory, weren't released in character order so they weren't fully intended to be their own episodes like they are now. Basically you watch each of the 5 character episodes, and then from Breakout everything lines up directly.

Adam Burt

We gotta do something other than polls. This is getting outta hand

GrayStark

This is the problem with watching Earth's Mightiest Heroes is that they seemed out of order when I go down the list of episodes. Eps 1 & 2 are called Breakout pt.1 & 2 on the list I have, but you guys have episode 1 as Iron Man is Born, which I have as episode 3. I'm so confused. When I tried to watch the show, it felt like there was no continuity or that everything was out of order and I couldn't get which episode followed which. I looked for other lists of eps, but they were the same as the one I see on thetvdb.com

Thadman

I'm so happy you guys are doing Earth's Mightiest Heroes. It's an awesome show with proper story telling for the comics and I can't wait to see your guys reactions to all of it.
