Harry and Nymphadora were giggling as they entered his room, they were trying to be silent but it was close to impossible for them to act like that, after all, they were too drunk, but they weren’t the only ones, it’s not a rare thing for them to find guests laying on the halls of Potter manor and the others were either sleeping in the guest rooms or in the main hall where the party was held, the party was wild.
Harry and Nymphadora were walking with smiles on their faces while they were holding hands and it seemed like the night was just starting for the two of them, and it didn’t take too long for Nymphadora to fall on Harry’s bed while she was laughing like crazy, this has been one of the most entertaining nights for Nymphadora ever since she got divorced.
Harry couldn’t stop himself from taking his coat and throwing it on the other side of the room, Nymphadora was catching his complete attention that he forgot it had been ages since he had been in his room but when he did it, he realized that his room was still the same, he knew his mother wouldn’t let this place get dirty, so, he wasn't that surprised but he was happy anyway, the last he wanted was to bring Nymphadora to a dirty room.
Harry was a little nervous, this was the first time he had brought a woman to his room, and not only that, a woman that he was attracted to, but he didn’t have too much hope about her being attracted to him, after all, she’s older than him, she has a successful career in the Auror department and judging by her dating history, she was probably more interested in older guys than younger ones, and sadly, he was part of the second category from her point of view.
“Oh Merlin, this has been too fun Harry…Thank you so much for being with me through the party, I didn’t expect you to come back with a new attitude, I like seeing the real Harry Potter after a really long time…I’ve missed the real you, you know?” She said playfully as she bit her lower lip.
“Well I guess I should act more like it if it makes you happy,” he told her with a sincere smile.
The older woman didn’t say anything, but suddenly she grinned like crazy and Harry did the same too, this was too strange and amazing at the same time for the dark-haired wizard, situations like this one, made him hate himself for not making the effort to have experiences like this.
“So…I guess the next thing for us is—” Harry was about to say with a hopeful tone but then, his eyes widened the moment he realized something, the older woman’s eyes were completely closed.
He ran as fast so he could put his ear on her chest and he sighed relieved because she was fine, her heart was beating and she had a pulse, and the moment he started to hear the snores, he couldn’t help but sigh with a weak smile on his face, a part of him was disappointed that nothing will come out of this but another one was relieved because he didn’t want to embarrass himself in case things escalated further with the older woman.
So, he smiled at her and then proceeded to place her in his bed so she could sleep comfortably instead of sleeping while she was seated, he placed a blanket over her body, and after doing that, he pushed an enchanted button located on top of his bed to help her sleep peacefully, once he finished, he got out of his room completely satisfied and now it was time for him to look for a place to sleep because if she finds him there tomorrow, he knows it's going to be an uncomfortable situation, but then, he stopped in his tracks when he reached the door that belonged to his mother’s studio.
He decided to open the door and take a peek at it and his eyes widened, there was no one inside, it was the perfect opportunity for him to see if his mother had some information in that forbidden book collection of hers about the Horcrux problem he was dealing with.
“Time to work,” he said in a serious tone as he closed the door of his mother's studio and it seemed like he had forgotten he was drunk just a few moments ago.
He didn’t know where to start, this was so unexpected and this plan was completely improvised, he needed to calm down and think things twice before acting, the last thing he wished to do was to make a mess out of this book collection his mother guarded like a fierce dragon guarding its nest.
“Okay Harry, first things first, what are we looking for?” He muttered to himself. “Okay let’s see…Cursed objects, interdimensional monster summoning, how to train gargoyles and other strange creatures…” He said in a low tone and he was disappointed he couldn’t find anything remotely related to what he was looking for.
It seemed like she had no books with information about Horcruxes, he needed to find anything related to Horcruxes but he couldn’t ask anyone about that information, they could get the wrong idea of him wanting to create a Horcrux himself and that’s the last thing he wanted, he wanted to get rid of the one inside him.
“Chronicles of Life and Death: The Secrets of Immortality by Nicolas Flamel,” Harry said with a raised brow.
He wasn’t satisfied with the title but it was the closest thing he could find to search for horcrux-related information, but then his eyes widened the moment he opened the book, there was nothing written on it, the book was completely filled with blank pages.
“What the…” He said as he tried to find anything but the book was empty. “What a waste of time, I better put this back where it belongs before Mum realizes I looked into her private book collection,” he said in an annoyed tone.
But then something happened, there was a problem, even though he tried to place the book wherever he was before, it didn’t fit any longer and it didn’t matter how much strength Harry tried to use to make the thing get back to its place, it was useless.
“Come on you piece of shit get back to your place!” He demanded the thing without success until…
He finally managed to get the book back to its place, but he wasn't aware he used magic and he used too much to the point that the bookshelf started to shake until the thing fell in his direction.
“Oh shit!” He was worried about getting crushed by the thing and he was also worried that once his mother knew about this, she was going to kill him.
Surprisingly, the book fell off in one piece, there were no signs of damage and the books were accommodated in a way that made it difficult to fall separately which made Harry happy because now he needed just to put the bookshelf back on its place, it'll take a lot of strength but if he manages to succeed, he would avoid getting himself killed by his mother.
However, another surprise happened, it seemed like there was a button under the bookshelf and Harry knew that his mother was probably trying to keep him and his brother away from that button, he knew he was risking everything but he wanted to know what his mother was hiding so, he pushed the button and then, a tile in the room disappeared and under that tile, there was a notebook from the muggle world.
Harry ran as fast as he could to grab the notebook to see what his mother or father had written there and his eyes widened when he realized the title of the notebook.
“My investigation on the Horcruxes, a forbidden investigation by Lily Evans,” Harry read and he couldn’t help but gulp.
This was just too dangerous, now he knew why his mother was trying to stop anyone from finding this book, if someone knew she was investigating this, she could be condemned to the dementor’s kiss, this is one of the many forbidden subjects that ministry punishes by death in case someone tries to investigate them.
“What the…She started with this just after Voldemort’s attack, so, they knew about those things ever since then but they never realized I had one inside me,” Harry gulped at the thought.
He knew he didn’t have too much time, if his mother had managed to guard this for so long, her motherly instinct would probably made her feel something was wrong, so, he needed to forget about her reasons to investigate this and just focus on finding anything that could help him to destroy the Horcrux inside him.
To say that he was shocked would be an understatement, with each sentence and with each chapter he read he was getting more and more disturbed, not even the fact that he was flash-reading the notebook was stopping him from feeling a mix of emotions that ranged from surprise to fear.
He doesn’t know for how long he acted like that but time seemed to move too quickly for him to comprehend all the things he was reading, but suddenly he found out something that could help him with his purpose of destroying the Horcrux inside him, but then, he heard someone knocking on the door, and soon, he heard his mother screaming for whoever was there to open the door, he was done for sure.
