I have 2 friends that never watched anything Star Wars related and they only watched mandalorian because of baby yoda and they enjoy and understand the show. Watched all 3 seasons

i really agree with this comment. and this is coming from someone that doesnt think mando is well made or enjoyable. That doesnt mean i dont understand the love and appreciation people have for it, or hate on anyone for liking it. i think from this original comment both of what youre saying can be true. Mr Deadpool here couldve gotten fed up with it after 3 seasons and his take is not influenced by, others we dont know. but i do really agree with your comment, enjoyment is the most important piece

Here's my own hot take, people should stop obsessing over trying to determine or argue whether something is good or not and instead focus on whether it's enjoyable or not. If you have a good time, that ultimately matters more. On the flip side, something can be a masterpiece yet make you feel miserable. But whether it's legitimately "good" or not doesn't matter so much. One of my biggest pet peeves is when I see someone say something like "I loved this thing, until I saw someone on the internet say it was bad for such and such reasons and now I hate it." Like, it doesn't always have to be as serious as people make it out to be, just enjoy it for what it is - or don't and spend your time doing something you actually enjoy because you don't "owe" your limited time to any specific media in the first place.

@Dogman The Mandalorian is written by Jon Favreau. Dave Filoni has helped write 4 episodes, but the writing is primarily Jon.

I mean Mando is essentially a pulpy episodic cartoon show turned live action appealing to a wide demographic while Daredevil is a character show about Matt Murdock and Hell's Kitchen for a more mature audience. Mando has more in common with Gendy Cartoon Shows like Samurai jack where the show runners just wants to have fun in episode by episode with what they are trying to do. With how the show runners view the show and how it's structured it makes overarching storytelling to be messy and makes things feel "filler" even though that's the point. I'm not disagreeing that Mando isn't a "good" show, its just that the type of show that it is and what it aims to be is very different from mainstream tv series out there. I and many others enjoy Mando differently compared to other shows and I comeback to it to have my weekly fun. Heck, I'm not even that big of Star Wars fan but the show is just FUN to watch and that's what it boils down into.

I respect your point, but before the Mandalorian I had never watched any Star Wars content. I watched the 2 seasons of the Mandalorian and loved it, so it got me curious about Star Wars in general and I am just now starting to catch up to all the shows, movies and animations. Only season 3 has gotten me a bit lost tbh, although I loved last weeks episode.

@vicar Sol I see ur point but then I would counter that with daredevil on Netflix. It’s pretty much as good as breaking bad while still being a fandom type show. Why can’t Mando be a fandom type show but also have better quality storytelling

Yeah...? Mando and certain super hero shows are fandom type shows that appeal to those who enjoy deep consumption of a franchise. To those who take the effort of going through and learning about the "lore" of a series and seeing it be shown and rewarded is gratifying and what keeps people coming back. I ain't looking at Mando and expect the same quality as Breaking Bad or Beef or similar mainstream type of shows, it'd be great but that's not what the show is trying to be. There's also a matter of choice of audience, which dictates the quality of a show's appeal to a certain demographic. This what makes a show like Andor distinct and what made it so good is that it chose a more patient audience but to those who aren't find the show incredibly boring and bad even those from the fandom.

Mando feels like a live action cartoon, Because thats all that Filoni knows how to write. Everything from the dialouge, to the action, and pacing just feels so off. It may work in animated form but this is a completely different medium, and it just doesn't translate well.

Hot Take? or Legit Take? Im realizing Mandalorion isn't really a good show If anything its a great Star Wars show but a terrible mainline streaming show If you were to never watch anything star wars and come into mandalorionn for the first time and watch all 3 seasons of only Mando you would be so fucking lost. You can't get the full enjoyment of Mando unless you watch all 11 movies, clone wars, rebels, boba get, read the books, etc Compared to other Mainline streaming shows for other services such as Succession, House Of The Dragon, Severance, Ted Lasso, Shrinking, Ozark, Squid Game, Yellowstone, and even ANDOR you are engaged the whole time and don't need a YouTube video recap to understand everything going on.
