Since Calebs characther was introduced he's been the main represent for the human side of the show. I don't think they will take that away so he's still a human in some capacity. Hale kept him alive through the parasite when he died and has done so for the 23 years. I think a big part of the rest of the season will be if Caleb can break free from the parasite and regain his free will or if he is dependent of the parasite to stay alive. Is he some kind of zombie?

I’m hoping he isn’t a host; I liked him as one of our core human protagonists. But I’m guessing a host is likely what he will be.

Well, the Fidelity Test is one of those attempts to recreate a person in a host body, those with the red pearls. But apparently Charlores still didn’t manage to perfect the process since she did over 270 versions of Caleb. Or maybe she did since she has a MiB? I don’t know anything with this show.

Caleb is a successful version of James Delos. A person who died but has been brought back in a host body while being run through interviews until they act/make decisions in a similar fashion as the actual human they are modeled on. He retains his memories but now it will be interesting to see if he can still have "free will"...

I think their bodies are being controlled by the bugs and meanwhile their subconscious is active in this other (virtual) world where former hosts (like Delores) are used to create narratives in the world to keep their minds busy.
