6.8/10 is not 4.5/5, it's 3.4 out of 5, and No, that is not a good score for sci-fi movies or any movie for that matter. Blade Runner , The Matrix, Dune, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Star Wars (OT), Alien, Back to the Future, Terminator 2. These are sci-fi movies and all of them have a score WAY over 8/10. All the movies you equated with Annihilation are not even sci-fi (except Matrix Revolutions which sucks). 88% on RT is not the audience score, I don't care what some 'professional' critic values a movie, I care about audience score which is 66%. And I'm not trying to be unique, nobody I talked to about this movie found it good, and I was sincerely asking why many people here liked it. It was a genuine question. I've still not seen a single answer on a very simple question, whereas I've already mentioned several reasons why I disliked it. Feel free to answer.

6.8(4.5 out 5 stars) is a pretty good score on IMDB for scifi movies, and on RT is 88%, witch is a certified fresh movie. Also, The Matrix Revolutions, Hook, It (1990), Us, Hellboy (2004), all of them are 6.8 on IMDB. I know you want to be "unique" here, but you need to stop make shit up, you only embarrassing yourself.

@Chris Runde 6.8 on IMDB is a bad score, given that there are very few movies that have a rating lower than 4. Also the average rating of all movies rated on IMDB is around 7.0/10, so literally Annihilation has a below average rating... But enough about IMDB. Every character in Annihilation is a serious scientist or soldier, speaking in a monotone voice. For people who just entered an (alien?) dimension, they are devoid of wonder or really any reaction. The only emotion on screen are screams of fear when things go wrong. The five women are nothing but labels: biologist, soldier, psychiatrist, physicist, and (I don’t remember). Their lives and motives are barely touched upon. They might as well be wearing red shirts because their contributions to the story are non-existent. A lot of the movie is told in flashbacks with Natalie Portman’s character as the sole POV, and her blandness gave me no emotional investment in the outcome of the mission. The ending was incomprehensible and that god awful dance scene that went on forever is the straw that broke the camel's back. P.S. The funniest moment though: The scene with the girl realizing what was happening and then going off to become a plant.... I mean WTF!?

@Demos Constantindes 6.8 is not a really bad score for IMDB. Some of the greatest movies have close to an 8. And I really don't understand how you found it that bad? Were you having a terrible week or something.

Annihilation was a box office flop, has a pretty low audience score on RT, really bad score on IMDB and average user score on Metacritic. Really this wasn't a sarcastic question, I really don't understand why people find it a good movie.

Love the fast and furious franchise only because they just say duck it let’s throw everything at the wall and let’s see if what sticks then picks the ones that didn’t stick and said now this this is our movie hahahaha naw for real for real love just how entertaining and sit back relax and just enjoy they are hahah

I'm really curious about the people that vote for Annihilation. Did you actually like the movie or do you vote for it because of the potential discussions the crew can have about it? Because (for me) it is one of the worst movies I've ever seen, or one of the least enjoyable.

The good thing about Hobbs and Shaw winning is it gets us closer to allowing other films to be in the poll. None of these choices really appeal to me so I voted for Hobbs and Shaw just so we can move on.

Saw Hobbs and Shaw in the theater and it was fun enough but I want them to get going on Bond. I grew up watching the Bond films with my dad. I'm a feminist and shamelessly love these movies, at least the early ones. When I watched them, I didn't imagine myself as a Bond girl, but as James Bond. Or Luciana Paluzzi - my favorite of the villains.
