There's a special brand of toxic that exclusively appears in Patreon comments. I've never seen these guys on discord or Youtube, only these sorts of comment sections. I'm not a HxH fan, but I am a Fate fan and these kind of comments also cropped up around that show here as well. I can at least say in that case I had never seen such focused toxicity anywhere in the fandom, so I'm willing to give HxH the benefit of the doubt. I think there's just a specific type of patron who subs purely because they think it gives them exclusive rights to decide exactly what the BW crew should watch, and that the polls are just there for decoration.

I came to watch Gravity Falls, I stayed for the comment section. That was a journey!

I do really like Gravity Falls, but i'd be a liar if I said the fandom behind it aren't sensitive little children that can't take their favorite show to watch with their kids recieve criticism, and then defend it for not being a kids show when it clearly is; It just has a lot of jokes that would fly over children's heads which a LOT of cartoons do as well. This fandom has always been extra whiny and sensitive, the show is overrated, but the people who talk shit on it never really gave it a chance. So children please, stop crying.

Talk about night and day difference between the YouTube comments on the first episode of Gravity Falls and the comments here. Many of the comments on YouTube are very nice and polite and people are so excited that the crew is starting the show. And yet so many comments here are extremely negative, combative and rude. I get it, the show you wanted didn't win. Sure it might stink, but they BW crew has been putting out content for us covering around 20+ shows a month for the past several months. That's awesome! We can be disappointed but we don't have to be jerks about it.

Just want to say to everyone that it is alright if something doesn't resonate with you that resonates with others. There are lots of shows on this channel and you most likely can find something else to enjoy with BW. I don’t mind western animation or animation aimed at kids in general. Hell, A:TLA is my favorite show of all time, unabashedly so. Now, I have seen roughly half a season of Gravity Falls before something else came along and I forgot about it. Beyond that, I’ve watched most of the Normies’ reactions to the show… and still I just don’t get it. Not trying to be antagonistic, but can someone explain it to me without being condescending? Why THEY like the show, personally? Because Reddit posts have not helped with this, either. The show doesn’t make me laugh, doesn’t draw me in with its mysteries, and the art style is garishly gross. But it has such a huge following, so what am I missing? Thanks in advance.

To be fair, Shonen Anime is meant for teenagers, while Gravity Falls is more meant for preteens and slightly younger. For the purposes of entertainment, those are considered two separate demographics.

Thank you for saying this. As someone who isn't a big fan of some of the stuff they react to, I actually hate it when people feel the need to start complaining about it. We're all allowed to like different things, and the fact that Blind Wave crew is always willing to take a chance on new series is something that a lot of the complainers could learn from. I want to believe it's mostly kids who have zero patience, but goddamn does it happen a lot.
