Very true. Honestly, I'm personally in agreement with the person who said they should do both. Both A Silent Voice and Hamilton have gotten close to winning a ton of times. At this point, I feel that it would be appropriate to do them both, one after the other.

Listen, everyone's entitled to their opinions, but I'm just gonna put this out in the open for people to think about. For those of you who are claiming that "A Silent Voice" winning is unfair or stupid, consider this: Just because something is not a "cultural phenomenon" in your world, doesn't mean it is irrelevant. A Silent Voice WAS a cultural phenomenon in Japan and for fans of Anime (which it already has been pointed out is, in fact, now mainstream in the US). It represents a huge step forwards in disability representation in Japanese media AND called out an intensely systemic issue with bullying by and for school age children. It created a surge in layperson discussion about awareness of the deaf community and in positive mental health for teens. Furthermore, despite its extreme success, the talented animators and creation staff were tragically murdered shortly after the films successful release in a case of malicious arson. So, in short, I understand your frustration that your favorite didn't win. Heck, I would have voted for Hamilton too, if A Silent Voice hadn't of been an option. I LOVE Hamilton. BUT A Silent Voice does hold a large amount of cultural value here and abroad and deserves respect. You can be disappointed, you can be frustrated, but don't be petty, disrespectful, or dismissive. The late creators of this powerful movie deserve more from you than that.

Dunking on the terribleness of Moolin certainly has potential to be entertaining, but, probably going to stick with "A Silent Voice" this time around. The question though is if it will be original version or dubbed. I haven't seen the dub myself, but I am wondering how a couple of moments could be localized adequately... (If you've seen it, you probably know some of the moments I am thinking of.)

I definitely love in this corner of the world, i think it's incredible and underrated but i feel the crew will like silent voice much more.

If you consider "Silent Voice". I recommend "In this coner of the World " It is chosen as best Anime film of 2010 ~ 2020 in many charts.

lol at anyone voting dunkirk, they are definitely not gonna like dunkirk. It's easily nolan's hardest film to get into. It's the only film i didn't love of his. I know it's great particularly in the technical aspect but the story and characters are so thin.

I'll be happy with a silent voice or Hamilton. Both are cultural moments, we winning either way

Speak for yourself. Anime has become mainstream in the past decade.. so this technically is being relevant. Anime is pretty much another medium just like any typical hollywood american movies, television, games and books are. There's no difference between them.. cultural differences yes but there are themes and stories that are universal to everyone in anime too.
