It's funny, in most shounen "fighting spirit" isn't mentioned so random power ups come across as deus ex machina. Whereas in Gurren Lagann, the story is literally built around fight spirit. You know they're going to power up and overcome their obstacles yet it still feels satisfying to see it happen.
