I know the idea of them together is insane, but Jennifer Carpenter said that she played Deborah always with the idea in mind that she was in love with Dexter. At least in the beginning.

But what made it really awkward is the fact that their divorce in real life had only been final for 8 or 9 months. The writers wanted a full on love scene and Jennifer Carpenter said absolutely not!
