I thought Jodie did great and I'm enjoying her own personality shes giving the doctor too. I love Graham as a companion, he reminds me of Ian from the 1st doctor.
2020-01-21 14:38:54 +0000 UTCIt wasn't perfect but I really enjoyed it. I thought Jodie was particularly good this episode. I know a number of people have been frustrated that the message was a bit 'on the nose' but both Classic Who and NuWho have been doing this for years - the original Dalek serial ('Look! They're just like the Nazis and, by the way, pacifism is bad...'), Colony in Space, The Curse of Peladon, The Green Death, The Sun Makers, World War Three ('massive weapons of destruction', indeed!), Oxygen ('we're fighting the suits!')... the list goes on. It's always been part of the remit of the show and it's absolutely fine!
2020-01-19 11:32:58 +0000 UTCIdk why people are so upset by this one. Doctor Who always has good speeches, the monsters were well designed, the twist was good.

2020-01-18 03:40:58 +0000 UTCOverall I liked it. Great location work, good creature design. But it takes a lot for me to actively dislike a Who episode. However, I have high standards for this show and this episode didn’t come remotely close to meeting them.

2020-01-17 00:12:07 +0000 UTCOh come on. Fixed points in time were never part of Doctor Who lore until RTD made it up when the show was more than 40 years old. Perfect continuity has never been part of DW.

2020-01-16 22:50:14 +0000 UTCI enjoyed it. Not the best, far from the worst. Some of the character development needed a little more work, but I liked the pacing, the threat and the resolution. The ending was a bit lacking in subtlety, but these are things that need to be said. It could have worked as well if it hadn't been the Earth, but a planet humans destroyed (as it muddled the already confusing in-show future of the planet).

2020-01-16 17:31:42 +0000 UTCThe episode was okay, the creatures were cool, the old woman was ridiculously annoying and the amount of time they tried to force an unearned emotional moment (especially with the daughter reveal) it just didn’t work. I also don’t mind them talking about climate change, but there’s a difference between subtly conveying a message and smacking you over the head with it

2020-01-16 17:08:20 +0000 UTCI enjoyed the episode and think that the topic of climate change is a very prominent issue that needs to be discussed more, especially here in Australia right now. Also, I noticed that the pin Hyph3n was wearing on her shirt looked similar to the one Daniel Barton was wearing in episode 2.

2020-01-16 11:35:11 +0000 UTCThe question should have been “where’s Benni”?

2020-01-16 04:56:50 +0000 UTCDuring her soapbox speech at the end, she said something about there being multiple timelines... that's not really a concept in Doctor Who... it contradicts the concept of fixed points in time, and time being re-written. Multiple universes, yes. Multiple dimensions, okay. Multiple timelines? That's never been a thing. You can't just re-write the entire concept of the show just to make your soapbox speech work, and avoid addressing what Ryan was initially concerned about (those two women they left to die).

2020-01-16 02:33:43 +0000 UTCIt was like a first draft of a script. Messy, messy, messy.

2020-01-16 01:23:52 +0000 UTCReally enjoyed the cast performance this episode with only a few exceptions. Loved the creature design, those extra teeth creep me out. Unfortunately the story didn't do much for me. Lets hope we get a good one next episode.

2020-01-16 01:06:50 +0000 UTCAlthough I pretty much like the message in the end, I think it was executed poorly. I did not connect with the characters like lets say in "Voyage of the Damned" (Titanic Episode) and the plot wasn't exiting either. The Problem with Orphan 55 being Earth is that it has no impact on the story whatsoever. Could the story work in same way without Orhan 55 being Earth? Yes. That's the big Problem,. If you deliver that speech in the end, you have to make it the main focus of the Episode. Otherwise it falls flat. I wish they had done a better job, because I pretty much agree with what they were trying to do here.

2020-01-15 22:36:19 +0000 UTCWell, you should hope it airs in China and India then. Though I suspect people there have bigger concerns than watching rich white westerners lecturing them lol.

2020-01-15 21:07:24 +0000 UTCI guess blaming asteroids, super volcanoes, ice ages, and other natural disasters just aren't as interesting or attention catching anymore lol. Mother Nature makes a poor bad guy. Especially in todays world.

2020-01-15 20:58:13 +0000 UTCThis episode felt like a more disappointing version of the series 4 episode ‘Midnight’. But given we had a cracking 2 part opener before this, I’m not ready to write off series 12 just yet.

2020-01-15 20:57:06 +0000 UTCHonestly my only real negatives were the old couple and the final ending, but with a topic as important as this in today’s society it was a message that some people need to understand
2020-01-15 20:39:47 +0000 UTCBENNI? BENNI? BENNI? BENNNNNIIIIII?!!!!
The Doctor
2020-01-15 17:58:23 +0000 UTCThe episode felt like the shots were poorly blocked and shot, which hurt the edit later on. It felt like they didn't get enough cover footage, so scenes felt like they went from one shot to another shot, and maybe skipped one in the middle. Characters would appear and disappear without any sense of continuity. So while the premise was fine, I think it was hampered by bad directing and editing.

2020-01-15 17:57:17 +0000 UTCI have enjoyed pretty much every episode of 13 so far, but this one just felt bland, generic. Like they wanted to do a horror plot but gave up halfway thru. I still "enjoyed" it but it felt a little lazy and at the same time rushed.
BrokeHighMan
2020-01-15 17:38:11 +0000 UTCIt was just a mediocre episode, the Doctor continues to run around like a headless chicken instead of taking charge, leading and solving the problems. Plus don't need yet another sermon on how mankind is ruining everything, get enough of that elsewhere.

2020-01-15 17:03:43 +0000 UTCRelatively good episode overall, didnt mind the speech and "preachiness", I get it, it's Chib and 13's stuff, better adapt to it. Decent episode but not mindblowing in any way.
2020-01-15 16:35:19 +0000 UTCI was liking it in the beginning, then it started to feel like a stew with too many ingredients; and some of those ingredients were bland.

2020-01-15 16:29:26 +0000 UTCIt was a good concept but it was poorly executed. The dialogue felt strange and the pace of the whole episode felt rushed. I feel like they spent all the budget on set design and the monsters (which I liked the look of) and then had no money left for a decent writing team.
2020-01-15 16:28:04 +0000 UTCThis comment exactly.

2020-01-15 16:11:36 +0000 UTCThis may be my least favourite episode ever made. I genuinely can't even think of anything I liked about this episode. So much stuff that went nowhere like not exploring the parallel of the Doctor's planet and Earth both destroyed and how that would affect both her and her companions.

2020-01-15 15:30:48 +0000 UTCI couldn't agree more with this themes and message of this episode any more than I do but art with a message needs hints and nuggets of stances they can think about, when people know they are being lectured they reflexively resist the topic.

2020-01-15 15:08:38 +0000 UTCBit disappointed with the episode, especially with it being written by Ed Hime who wrote “It takes you Away” which was one of the stronger episodes last season. A lot of the issues fall down to the pacing and rushed writing - so a lot of the characters decisions feel very SoapOpera-esque. Why did they all need to go in the van? You were a bad mother so I’m gonna blow up your work? Even the kid being angry at his dad for all of 2minutes off screens. I’m hoping the rest of the season is better.

2020-01-15 15:05:47 +0000 UTCThere was a good episode in there but having so many plot lines and conflicts made it unfocused.

2020-01-15 14:44:11 +0000 UTCWorst episode of nu who in my opinion. Everything about it felt cheap, poor quality, beating me over the head with the subtle-less message. Acting was poor especially “BENNYYYY” “I WANT MY BENNY” “THATS NOT LIKE MY BENNY”

2020-01-15 14:24:31 +0000 UTCIt was a bit of a mess for me, aliens/humans looked amazing. But that's all I really liked, the supporting cast were poor and the plot was rushed.

2020-01-15 14:21:46 +0000 UTCThe pacing felt very rushed and wasn't executed great but I thought the twist was enjoyable enough. I also like the moments with The Doctor holding back information from her companions. I like Jodie's Doctor being more secretive than previous, it gives her more of an edge.

2020-01-15 14:18:29 +0000 UTCI wish instead of a two parter for the first 2 episodes we could have had a whole season of trying to stop those dimensional beings throughout time and space. Could’ve been dope
