Star Wars Resistance 2x9

Do you think the Droid Racer in this episode shares a in-universe connection with the CIS Vulture Droids?

Comments

I have to imagine that the evolution of the technology could and possibly would lead to somthing like that, also on another star wars concern i wanted your guy's advice i love the sequel trilogy but im going 2 c rise of Skywalker with some friends who either hate the sequel trilogy or cant stop complaining about TLJ WHAT SHOULD I DO!!!!!?????

The wookiepedia page for them calls them “racing droid” and literally has one sentence about them so nothing official;however, I think we should do one of those stupid ancestry DNA test for them online.

Haor Chall Engineering were the in-universe manufacturer who made the Vulture Droids, and we've never heard anything about them outside of the few Prequel Era Droid craft that they're listed to have made for the Separatists. They'd've been hard pressed to find clients with applications to fund Droid Starship development post-Clone Wars, especially since some iteration of Sienar Fleet Systems took over for most all of the Empire & First Order's ships. I'd be willing to bet that the Droid Racers are related since Haor Chall Engineering's Landing Craft & Transport shuttles also have that 4-pronged-leg look to them, and because the Vulture Droids official name lists them as a "Mark I" (Variable Geometry Self-Propelled Battle Droid, Mark I) which suggests that they were planned to have been developed as a series... that we never see any new versions of (all the post-Clone Wars appearances are just private security forces or someone getting their hands on old Vulture droids, never something new). Personally, I'd love a short story about someone trying to get their passion project of the Mark II Vulture Droid made, and eventually having the Hutts be the ones who fund it as a "racing droid" because they'd obviously still let it be equipped with weapons, so long as they were hidden.

As they appear to be a variation of the Vulture Droid, I now christen them as the Condor Droid.

That's what I thought when it first transforms. The head moves in a similar way to the droid fighter and the eyes look similar. I did wonder at first why you couldn't see inside the cockpit at all but I guess that's because there wasn't one.

I didn’t make that connection, but I definitely think so. It seems like a further evolution of that technology. Like an iPhone 11 compared to an iPhone 7.

Really they're not confirmed to be Vulture droids, I thought they where exactly the same
