Nen is just energy, though invisible to the naked eye; it's no different than some UV or IR waves that cameras do capture just fine, it's just us that don't see them; usually if you have Nen you could easily see Nen through any recording, only difference is that Hisoka was using In to make his aura invisible even to Nen users, so they had to learn Gyo to see it.

The Gyo was for Hisoka's In. If he wasn't using In then all you need is nen to see it.

The original anime had Wing specifically mention that the camera and VHS (because yes it was on a VHS not a DVD) were both specially made to be able to record and display Nen

It pretty much is. It is just called differently. But replace "aura" with "mana" and there is no difference. Even magic systems can have rules and limitations (if they are good ones.) Same goes for quite a lot of power systems. It might be called "chi" or "spiritual pressure" or whatever, but it is fundamentaly the same as if it was called "magic". It is all a made up source of energy you can use to do normaly impossible things..

Videos can see different waves we can't, for example, you can use your phone to capture the wave that comes from your television remote and then you can see it, but without the video, it's invisible to the naked eye. It is strange that nen remains intact but its explained away that only Gyo can pick it up.

Well if nen fights are so common in heavens arena then maybe they just have special made cameras that can pick up on hidden nen so other nen users can watch and get the full experience, and for replays.
