Doctor Who 8x10 Reaction Early Access!

"In the Forest of the Night"

Doctor Who 8x10 Reaction Early Access!

Comments

I like the differences in their reactions from the ridiculously pious hardcore Who community who try to force views on people. If you ever say you think S4 is vastly overrated (like I do) or that Hell Bent is a better finale than Sound of the Drums (which I think it easily is) then you are in for a whirlwind of abuse and toxic vile. I love that sometimes they don't love episodes I love as much as me like Human Nature/Family of Blood and Amy's Choice and also respond really positively to episodes that aren't fan favourites like Wedding of River Song.

Nick Earl

Aaron tries so hard to be the contrarian to the point where he's like yeah let the kids die so they're not sad just so he can be the opposite of everyone else.

Ryan Gordy

I've been defending this episode on here for weeks. After rewatching it with the guys, I would like to apologize for that, lol. I mean, the episode wouldn't be terrible if it wasn't for the third act.

Greg Schuster

I worry the emotional impact of the finale. The crew is usually much more accepting than me(I don't like the second half of s6) but on this one of the big crux they don't seem in board with. They will understand it, I don't think they will connect with it. Except maybe Shane. Even Aaron I think will be to much trying to jauge the reaction to fully immerse. Thankful there's a smaller emotional beat that I think will get them.

Doby Greg

My worry with this episode is if they will connect to the emotional crux of the finale.

Doby Greg

This episode is a clear case of establishing a really interesting concept and having no idea what to do with it. But it's hardly the worst ever episode of Doctor Who, I actually think Robot of Sherwood from this season is much more disappointing, at least this episode tried to be distinctive and different.

Nick Earl

this episode was just awful

MrSkarred

I'm not a fan of this season in general, but I never understood why this episode gets so much hate. It's not great, but it's fine. Yeah it doesn't really make sense, but it's Doctor Who - how much sense does it really have to make? Interested to see what the guys think of the series finale

Jeanette C

Winchester Mystery House! Wife of the son of the man who invented them. Favorite place to go to as a kid in San Jose, California. They do a no-electricity tour on every Friday the 13th and throughout October and regular tours the rest of the time.

Bekah

The anti antidepressants message is pretty disturbing. Perhaps Frank Cottrell-Boyce is a scientologist?

Opti_Frog

I like the episode for its structure between Danny, Clara, and the doctor, I dislike the main story arc and profusely hate the ending, some nobody missing sister casually mentioned during the episode a couple times.... shows up in a bush, and they made it this big final scene... I am happy this one's over. On forward!

Veno

This episode makes me cringe so much. That said, I think Capaldi is excellent throughout, some of the visuals are good. But damn...

The Doctor

Hate it or meh it... I think we can all agree, at least we’ve gotten past it 😉

Brian Barnes

Yeah this and kill the moon are dumb

Herberderber

Looking forward to the Blind Wave Dr Who vid, and then find out it's "In the Forest of the Shite". Such a disappointment

Andrew W

The premice is awful but the majority of the interactions are fine

I don't like to give hate so I am trying to say this in a constructive criticism way as I love your guy's reactions but I think you were a little weird in the way you thought about Danny and the doctor and very biased.

illaxion_gaming .

I've seen all of those. This is the worst. (Although Time-Flight is damn close.)

Jennifer Diaz

I'm not a HUGE fan of this episode, (in fact, I'm not really a fan at all, I just don't loathe it with a burning passion like, say, Kill the Moon) but anyone who thinks this is the worst episode of Doctor Who ever has never watched The Horns of Nimon, The Twin Dilemma, Time Flight, The Wedding of River Song, Kill the Moon, Let's Kill Hitler, etc. I will, however, say that this is Danny at his worst. My mouth hung open when he ordered Clara to go home and grade homework near the end. His controlling nature goes into overdrive in this one. And he claims the Doctor is the one that's the officer, rather than the soldier. I think they both are.

Scribbles

Best opening ever. Period.

Connor McCrory

I’ve always liked Danny, the guys get annoyed at pretty much everything he says or does, kind of frustrating because it really is all from a realistic point of view.

Simply.Beyond

Don't think I ever noticed the environmental message in it until seeing y'alls reaction, and I've watched several times already. Still consistently surprised by the hate Danny seems to be getting. You guys are usually pretty empathetic towards the realist characters. I can recall several instances where you guys would jump in and comment how you would never act like some of the characters in the shows act in real life. And yet, when Danny acts exactly like a real person would act, you guys just yell at him to shut up, and it's just.... really confusing to me. I will continue to hope that he will one day grow on you... but it's beginning to seem less likely.

Melody Dia

Nope

I'm a fan of a show about a time-travelling phone box, but even I think this one is step too far. Just like 'Kill the Moon' - its the consequences I can't get past. Accepting that the Earth is capable of doing that with its tree's - every single road, field, farm and rice paddy has just been ripped up by a tree that sprouted and then... what? We were saved from a solar flare, but not have to deal with the entire breakdown of the whole planets agriculture and transport networks. Yeah, sorry. No. Even silly stories have consequences.

Dave Ford

It got an extrodinary lot of hate not only due to the diabolical ending but there was a lot of controversy over the Maeve character. Many were highly critical that it sent a bad message out about Maeve and taking medication & was slammed as being irresponsible by campaigners.

Jason

I dare say worst of Moffat era

Doby Greg

The Tardis could probably hold the entire human race since it should be infinite. Its just how would they get everybody inside. Would be cool to see. :)

Alan Collings

It's not infuriating or disgusting. I consider it the worst because there's nothing in it. You will probably start than give up halfway because nothing grab you good or bad. But the crew usually make even the most generic thing interesting.

Doby Greg

I honestly didn’t know people hated this episode, then again I watched once it years and years ago and I only liked it for the setting. And I was like 14 or something. Guess it’s time to see if I still feel the same way!

RyanKlip

"The video has been removed by the user"

Oty Safiry

Probably the worst of the Capaldi era.

Michael T

People usually hate this one. Myself, as a defender of underdogs, cripples, bastards and broken things always tried to defend it. But I've rewatched it the other day, and in the end, yeah, it's quite an empty and pointless episode despite some good moments and great visuals.

Moffat didn't write the episode. The writer is Frank Cottrell-Boyce. Why would Moffat beg us to be charitable to it?

coladict

*skip* see you guys next week!

JamesA

Ah "in the forest of the shite" Moffat has begged us to give this another go..It just needs that god awful ending taken out. At least it's then bad not "God blind me please" bad instead 😁

Jason

Made an oopsie. Video will be back up momentarily - Eric

Blind Wave

Copyright issues?

Stone A. Bowman

This episode isn’t really *terrible*, it’s just a little... cringey. It feels like it was a special episode made for a charity event for a school or something, like as though real school kids wrote the script and they just went ahead and used the same school kids as actors.

Able

Oh jeez. I completely forgot this episode existed. I'm a hardcore environmentalist, and even I think it was too preachy. Xs
