When the first trailer for MM:FR came out, i was sure George Miller would piss all over The Fast & Furiuos franchise, and i was not wrong. Fury Road is quite possibly the best action movie since The Matrix.

I personally believe this is one of the most major movies of the years 2010.

I must admit, I'm personally one of the few who don't love this film as much as others. Don't get me wrong, I think it's a visually amazing achievement in filmmaking, and should always be applauded for that, but just on a story and character level, it never quite did much for me beyond its spectacle.

There was a comic that came out as a movie tie-in that goes into how Immortan Joe was in the Australian army before the war, and how he rose to power. I'm with you though in thinking that's too short of a time span and in my head "Immortan Joe" is just the name that the least mutated heir to his bloodline takes.

The theory that I heard was that this Max, was a kid saved by the original Max from the first movies. He tried to be like him and ended up getting a bunch of people that were depending on him, killed. Which is why he only calls himself Max, after he saves them.

Yeah, the world of Mad Max is never explicitly explained in detail, however if you watch the first movie, they do give a little backstory and also explain how things were going to shit long before the bombs dropped. Essentially you had roving gangs of bad people already. So through the series you essentially get a similar setup, however the first movie(s) are before the bombs dropped and the rest of the movies are set after. There's a lot of production info and timeline info that people have tried to use to sort out what happens when, but it just works better to think of them as Road Warrior stories told by the survivors years later. If you assume Max is 20 in Mad Max and 40 in Fury Road, it somewhat tracks time wise for all the cancers and radiation. You can also theoretically put Beyond Thunderdome as the last movie in the franchise, that way you still go out with Mel. It also ends in a way to help establish the "Road Warrior" legends the movies are. I think Miller was originally aiming for Fury Road to be set after though when they were aiming to bring Mel back.

I saw this on my birthday in theaters and was Blown Away at how great Tom Hardy was without barely uttering a word! The Mad Max video game is Great too!

I feel like you guys would be amazed at the imdb trivia page for the original mad max. Its all crazy facts surrounding how the extras were real bikers and paid in beer or how they didnt have permits for filming so they filmed it in very little takes or illegally closed roads befor the police arrived. the police then heard about the movie and helped close roads for the movie

I love that right near the end of the film Furiosa has one eye closed exactly like Guts on Rick's shirt. Also I knew they'd love this, it's insane.

If you'd like more lore I'd recommend the Mad Max video game. It's very fun and you can read up on lore.
