What's wrong with James Corden? Ireckon the crew will love next episode. It has the type of humor they like in Who.

Love that they all wept in they're own way. Eric was quite open, as was Aaron. Calvin and Shane were a little reserved but you could see the emotion and the compassion on their faces at the end of the episode especially Shane hiding his face in his hands during Bill Nighy's speech. A truly brilliant episode from this show, one that i think during it's run cemented Matt Smith's Doctor as a Fan Favourite. Looking forward to the next one guys.

Ugh the "Amy. Rory." was already sad why'd you have to throw in a Harry Potter reference too? Love your reaction. This is a favourite in the fandom - as you can see why.

I always remember Tony Curran from the 13th Warrior... this is the ep that made me start to really like Matt Smith. Tennant will always be MY doctor, but the way Smith is with Vincent in this ep just melts my heart...

I was such a huge fan of Vincent growing up and when I saw this for the first time I legitimately wept. I really appreciated that the show took a person with such a sad life and they tried to bring some light into it.

I could also see Capaldi. But I don't think it would fit the first two

I sometimes wish they'd kept the original scripted title for this episode: 'The Eyes That See the Darkness' is very evocative. 'Vincent and the Doctor' seems pretty prosaic, really. But since that's my sole complaint about this ep, then it's doing pretty well.

This episode was the beginning of me getting emotional for the rest of Matt Smiths run. So many tears to come, I can’t wait to see the guys get emotionally destroyed like I did.

Honestly an episode that would only work with Smith just imagine Tennant Gurning his way through this.

Wow! Bawled my lamps out watching you watch just snippets of it. Despite rewatching it recently and having done some majorly ugly face crying then too. I agree that the monster doesn’t have to be great. It’s a metaphor for the invisible monster dogging Vincent and that only he can battle alone. Love this episode so much and loved your reaction. That “Amy, Rory” moment is definitely a knife to the heart! Great reaction!

A great episode. It was this one that made me realize on my last rewatch that Smith finally beat out Tennant as my favorite Doctor.

I don't think the focus was supposed to be the monster. It was Vincent and his life with the monster just being the trigger to have them go find him.

I dont understand the love for this episode. The ending is amazing i agree, but the actual story and monster was pretty lackluster.

This is the episode that made me an Eleven Stan. It was beautiful, heartfelt and character driven. Vincent was actually a full fledged character that had a substantial arc. I felt like I was watching the real Van Gogh. I don’t really get that authenticity with other historical episodes. This is one of the only ones where the historical person felt so real .People always complain about the monster in this episode, but I always thought that the monster was a metaphor for death and Vincent’s depression, it wasn’t really about the villain in the end.

Yep. I cried again. Bill Nighy's speech always gets me. I love the way this episode portrays Vincent's depression as well. So many shows, particularly ones aimed at families, portray depression as being sad, miserable and moody all the time. This is a much more realistic portrayal. Most of the time, Vincent seems like a normal functioning person...until he's not. I also like the fact they didn't go for the magic "Vincent is cured of his depression" ending that I think some other shows might have done. This ending, although very sad, is much better.

I haven't been following the Doctor Who reactions as religiously, but this is one of my favorite episodes. Maybe it was explained sometime ago and I missed it, but what happened to the reactions to most of Season 1, and all of season 2 and 3? I was interested to go back and look at those.
