Doctor Who 4x18 Reaction Early Access!

"The End of Time, Part 2"

Doctor Who 4x18 Reaction Early Access!

Comments

Still havent watched this episode all the way because i was sad about David leaving. Need to caught up. Did some send you the link the the goodbye video they did for David 500 miles by the pretends with the cast and crew?

Dawn Elicia Billings

Hated the Matt Smith years to me his is horrible doctor only saved by his companions. I tried to watch his episodes. I quit until Peter came. Thought i may have missed something so binged all the episodes i missed. Realize i did not miss much. He in my opinion only had about 5 good episodes out of his whole series.

Dawn Elicia Billings

I've been seeing alot of love for Capaldi these days, particulary on reddit

Alric Amon

Beautifully said

Alric Amon

Wish there was more love for Twelve here, yes some of the writing for him could have been better but his performance for me perfectly encapsulates who The Doctor is and what he stands for, he even made me grow to not hate Clara which I thought was impossible. I cried for 2 days straight when he regenerated. Its sad to say goodbye to the old era Ten and Donna are my favourite pair on the show but Eleven and the Ponds are a good follow up, they feel like a real family. Also i'm excited to see Eric's reaction to Rory.

Dannielle

Capaldi and Tennant are probably the two best actors to have played the Doctor, difference is just that Tennant had competent writing to work with

Jac99

Matt Smith is my Doctor. I thought David Tennant was my Doctor, and honestly the idea of anyone coming after him was unacceptable to me. But when Eleven showed up, it was like falling in love. It was like falling in love and realizing that all those times before that you thought you were in love, you didn't even know what love was. I still like Ten. And I can appreciate Twelve. And I remember Nine fondly. But to me, no one else at once captured both the childlike wonder and curiosity, and the elder wisdom and weariness of the Doctor. No one else showcased the empathy and compassion that made the Doctor seem so human, but also the cold detachment of a Time Lord that reminded us he was very much an alien that we could never fully understand. He was a teddy bear one moment and terrifying the next. He was heart and love and judgement and rage in perfect measure. And to me, THAT was the infinite complexity of the Doctor, and Matt Smith captured his essence in Eleven the best. I don't know how Blind Wave will feel about the Moffat era. I don't know if Eleven will become anyone's favorite. But I have every confidence that they'll be able to appreciate Matt Smith's interpretation of the character we love, and I look forward to their reactions to series 5. I miss Eleven.

RevanTheRebel

Tom Baker is my top, I find it hard to choose between Tennant and Smith. Capaldi would be higher because he's a great actor but the writing and plots to quite a lot of his episodes are crap.

Herberderber

I think they will, from what was mentioned a while back from the editor of the videos. I'm not sure though, and I am definitely not the most credible source

MailDude

@Daxellz Matt Smith is the best of the nuwho doctors to date. He played ancient very well and when he got angry it was actually frightening. I love David Tennant however when he got angry it felt like a kid having a temper tantrum.

Scott Archibald

@BlindWave I know you guys don't normally watch the mini episodes, however you probably should for Series 5. They actually give some insight into the next episodes.

Scott Archibald

After this i stopped watching for 2 years i couldn't see anyone else as the doctor than David Tennant but i must admit Matt Smith is a good doctor tho.

Daxellz

Fun Fact: The song playing in the Cantina scene with Jack is the same song the showgirl sang in in the Daleks in Manhattan episodes.

Timothy Jacob

Loved Tennant as the doctor but for me Matt Smith is even better. Get ready to meet my favorite companion as well.

Bennett Wethington

That's a very bold statement to make. Eleven's your favourite Doctor and that's fine, but it won't be so easy to replace Tennant for them. They obviously really loved him and Tennant remains the most popular Doctor ever among fans to this day. So I wouldn't be so sure that Eleven will become all their favourite.

Azmat Mahmood

It's the same 10 minutes as every other reaction, but this is a 1hr 12min episode and it's really hard to fit that in.

Kaalyn Johnson

the best theory ive heard about the one's covering their eyes, is they are what the weeping angels were before. It could make sense seeing as the angels are able to manipulate and use time

This really was a fantastic episode and farewell to Tenant's Doctor, really enjoyed the reaction. But, we are now in the era of my Doctor, Matt Smith, who I am sure will become all of their favourite. Shane's reaction is perfect because that's how a lot of us felt when we first saw Matt Smith, but The Eleventh Hour puts us all in our place. Cannot wait to see this journey with them through Amy, Rory and Clara's stories, right until Day of the Doctor. Going to be a good one folks.

Mifz Rahim

The ending of the Tennant era of Doctor Who really was one of the best farewells to any Doctor, as has been said this Doctor was defined by his companions. The goodbye to Sarah Jane became a lot more touching in retrospect but the Doctor keeps going and so must we.

I really dislike how people in this comment thread are putting down the ones who say they think Matt Smith is their favorite doctor. Please stop! I love David Tennant as well but gosh darn Matt Smith was amazing as well! They’re different and that’s good because different doctors gives the show a bit of flavor

PinoyAkoPH

i say that every week

Ism Zam

...they do have a full length reaction. I just watched it.

Ism Zam

OMG, can't wait for the next one! :)

Katya Vasileva

Really wish you'd done a full length reaction to this, or at least kept in 10's break down after he hear's Wilf's 4 knocks.

damn it. I start bawling every stinking time "Vale" comes on! Especially after "i don't wanna go." curse you!

GypsyTimeLady89

Tom Baker is next?

Joseph Wilger

Source?

Ryan Hicks

The time the doctor survived the radiation was the first episode with Martha on the moon in the hospital he transferred it into his shoe and threw it out

cool

StevenBrown

Completely agree

Was really looking forward to this reaction but why so short? It feels ultra condensed for some reason.

I think that's exactly it. In the UK, Donna is right alongside Rose and Sarah Jane as the most popular companions, but I've noticed that Americans can find her a little annoying and OTT. I guess it's understandable. Catherine Tate is a very famous British comedian and she brought a lot of that to Donna. Donna is a very "British" character. That doesn't necessarily translate as well to international audiences though.

Azmat Mahmood

I’m baffled by the fact they don’t love Donna. I think nearly unanimously in the UK, Donna is rated as the best companion. Plus I think Smith is great and my second favourite out of the 4 that’s been in the modern Doctor Who run. Tennant will always stand head and shoulders about the rest though. He brought seriousness and strength to the character, emotional beats that haven’t been matched since, and a jolly nature with a darkness underneath. All came through his performance. He’s my Doctor, and always will be.

on to matt smith, my favourite doctor and the strongest seasons, 50th etc..and I was dead set against such a young actor at first..

David Tennant is my favorite Doctor but my favorite story lines from new Who come from Matt Smith's era as the Doctor.

Ryan Wojo

Now it's time for the best Doctor.

Miramos Cine y Series

Enjoyable reaction, guys. :) Personally, I love the 11th Doctor. Give him a chance! :D

Will

Love this react!!

RealmOfDawn

Loved the Reaction, Can't wait for you guys to dwell into my favorite Doctor's run.

I'm excited for them to see Rory's development. I think the guys are gonna love his arc from bumbling boyfriend to The Last Centurion

Brittany R

That's about where Smith snared me, too. And "Basically...run." just nailed it home.

Tasker Thorn

Martha's already been the companion ;)

Azmat Mahmood

in your opinion! i know people who absolutely hate matt smith's portrail and i know people who absolutely love him. I also know people who just hate matt smith because they hated the whole clara arc.

Martin Wiggan

As someone who read The Writer's Tale.....no.

Scribbles

my body is ready to cry with you like a baby

Matis

I know RTD said that, but i always thought it was Romana (former companion to 4 and former timelord president) until i heard that.

Martin Wiggan

Such a brilliant reaction! Can't wait for next week :D

Jon Parker

So we’ve reached the end of 10, always breaks my heart when I hear wilf knock 4 times because he’s probably my favourite companion ever. Tennant was and still is my doctor. He was the first one I saw and I remember being distraught at the idea of someone else playing the doctor, but I gotta say Smith is awesome. The guys will love him since his doctor always felt bigger than 10, he has soo many good speeches that give you goosebumps. I’ve got a feeling a couple of them will be on board with smith as soon as he says “Hello, I’m the Doctor” at the end of the eleventh hour. That was the moment I was onboard with him. Anyways 42 weeks till the Day of the Doctor!!!!

Adnan1610

Now onto the sexiest companion ever in Doctor Who!!!!

Ryan Wojo

Have you seen Daleks – Invasion Earth: 2150 A.D (it's a non canon doctor who film) because Bernard Cribbins plays a policeman who travels with the doctor and susan

Martin Wiggan

Yes! Now on to Series 5! Probably my favorite season of stories from start to finish in the new Who era!

Jonathan Azares

He actually said, "You'll be wheeling me out of the Tardis in my Bath chair..."

According to the BBC, who is the final authority on these things since Doctor Who is their property, audio dramas by Big Finish ARE canon.

Scribbles

Hooooboy, that pronunciation. "Vail deSIM"....oh dear. It's "Val-lay Day-chem". At least you got the translation right. ;)

Scribbles

So, David Tennant basically said that he had to leave the show when he did, or they would have had to drag the sonic screwdriver from his cold, dead fingers. If I remember right, Doctor Who was actually the show that got him to want to be an actor. As a child, he wanted to play the doctor. So this is the conclusion of a dream.

Yeah but they have no idea that's a thing (minus Aaron)

IrishNexus

Series 5 was great. Series 6 and 7......😕

Azmat Mahmood

Trivia: 1) During that bit where the Doctor is dragged down the stairs still strapped in that thing, they had to put a dummy made to look like him in the thing instead because David Tennant had just recently gone through spinal surgery to correct a prolapsed disc, and obviously it would be a bad idea to jounce him down a flight of stairs. 2) According to RTD, The Woman *is* meant to be the Doctor's mother. It's not surprising that she would be one of the two Time Lords on Gallifrey to defy Rassilon's plan.

Scribbles

Don't forget 8 is on screen in night of the doctor

Niall

I have a lot of love for David Tennant and his run as the Doctor, but this episode is no longer that sad for me because this time, I know what comes next and I like it more. Matt Smith is my favorite overall Doctor but I think NuWho, whatever else is doesn't do well, has never once missed on casting. Eccelston, Tennant, Smith and Capaldi were all fantastic.

Kaalyn Johnson

Shane is the one guy here who will 100% prefer Moffat's Who. Hotter companions, higher production values, snappier writing. I think Eric will as well, but definitely Shane.

Kaalyn Johnson

the final lines lines by every doctor is like breaking the fourth wall a little bit

Rahul Attray

It's can't be overstated how important that the change of show-runner from RTD to Moff was here - it's a big part of the send-off that they're saying goodbye not just to 10's companions, but also to a the entire season 1-4 era of the show.

Dave Ford

I too was sad to see DT go, but I have no doubt that you guys will come to really like Matt Smith

The Doctor he's a comin

Matt Hader

I assume they're doing Miracle Day?

i love tennant he was "my" doctor i started watching doctor who when he started playing the doctor and went back to watch chris's run and while i liked matt smith's run he never beat tennant however this is MY opinion i love anything with tennant in cus he always gives it his all

dagrimone

I disagree. The writing gets better after this in my opinion.

Tomi A

Anyone know what they are doing with the Thursday Torchwood timeslot now?

Josh Thompson

Imo the writing gets... worse after this. That being said Matt did a good job playing the Doctor so I'm sure you'll all still enjoy :D

Hal

Oh I cannot wait to watch them watch that

Adar

See I loved 10, he was my Doctor but I had nothing against Matt either. I stopped watched this show midway through season 6 not because of Matt because I loved season 5 but honestly because of the writing. It just got too much! I am however currently trying to get back into it and watch all these seasons I have missed so I can keep watching these reactions!

Becky Howell

I was the same, I went from "whos this guy, I'm done with Doctor Who" to "11 till I die" in about 5 episodes".

Niall

Be sure to give Smith a chance. He’s definitely different, but he’s a great Doctor.

Dale Denton

Welcome the worst Doctor (so far).

Yunru

Man, watching full length really broke me. cried for the last 20 minutes of the episode. Goodbye 10! see ya later pal. 11 is still great and looking forward to watching this new era of the show!

EDITRON

10 was my favorite and it took me awhile to appreciate Matt Smith. Can't wait until Eric sees Rory next episode

Elizabeth Dufur

I really like a lot of episodes from the Matt Smith era, but for me, personally, Tennant will always be my favorite doctor, and I cried like a motherfucker all over again watching this reaction. After Ten, I think my second favorite (not counting the classic) I really like Capaldi's take on the Doctor. But don't worry, you'll really enjoy yourselves on the nex seasons. AND the 50th anniversary special, cannot forget that.

Juliane Ivanow

11 is by far my favourite Doctor. I think he's the most lovable so I'm sure you'll end up liking him. I also think you'll have more to discuss during the Moffat era, his episodes make you think a lot more than RTD's.

Tomi A

I think it's just an over thought theory Rasilon says "they will stand as a monument to their shame like the weeping angels of old" I think all he is doing is comparing them.

Scott Townend

and i don’t think I loved Shane more than in this reaction. . . . “i don’t like him!” Exactly my thoughts at the time, but I promise you will grow to like him.

I mean they didn't think the earlier seasons of doctor who was all to great so I can;t imagine them not liking s5 especially with the upgrade in production quality.

Alric Amon

Still makes me tear up... 😢

Well Some people cant except change but need to remember replace characters is a british thing seems like because they Do it With Dr Who and James Bond.

Skeletor

.y favorite Doctor's up next.

Gezno

Aaron knows that, he just didn't want to spoil his surprise reappearance for them

WAIT! The 8th doctor has a short that leads into the Day of the Doctor, so they haven't seen everything of his. Just being a stupid perfectionist... Sorry, couldn't help myself. I'll go hate myself now.

Doug C

I love David as well. But Matt had better stories! #riversong

Omg yes!! Pretty epic eps though!!

So basically...Run.

Toast Knight

Bernard Cribbins, such a national treasure and the only time ive had one or 2 tears while watching Dr Who

Knighthammer

The next ep is one of my favourites (certainly my favourite doctor introduction episodes) and the whole series is pretty great. Hope they fall in love with Eleven and the Ponds.

Juliette

Yay! Can't wait for next week!

Doug C

Colonel runaway, nobody human can talk to me today, protecting the pandorica etc

CelticRabbit

The end of Ten is so sad. I love how they had him say goodbye to all his former companions. It was a good run. I LOVE Matt Smith. He may not be the best doctor, but his era is when I got the most invested in Doctor who. I was so attached to the Pond family dynamic. They had so much chemistry. I’m so freaking excited for The Eleventh Hour.

Fizzy

Can't wait for the dark 11 moment

CelticRabbit

Such a amazing performance buy tenant

Oh boy the best Doctor is here and you're in for a crazy ride.

SHANE! ..You are going to eat your words! 10 bucks says you are going to like Matt Smith better than Tennant! What do you say?!

jesse guerrero

I like theory of the weeping angels are they punish timelords. not sure its true.

larsa valeth

Matt smith is just as good as David, there is some amazing major moments still to come best put on our seat belts going to be a bumpy ride.

Bert

I love what Eric said about defining the show via the companions!!! Can't wait for them to see what comes next! Cause David Tennant is my favorite Doctor, but Amy and Rory are my favorite companions!!!

AnnoyingRanter

This reaction alone is worth the $5! Great job guys!

jesse guerrero

Next episode! Nebula and Ripp Hunter arrive

So many quotable moments to come!

Matt Hader

Need the next episode........NOW

I never liked Matt Smith's doctor, personally. Now his companions... I love me some Amelia Pond

GERONIMO!

Attlon

Expect... differences

Bryan Matola

My favourite doctor is here 😁😁

thats as good as it gets next doctors dont live up to David

David Moyes

D finally the introduction to the best doctor!

Matt Hader

And into a new era, I’m not gonna lie, the next few seasons are a hit and a miss but the anniversary set up was definitely Smith’s best work, Geronimo

Daniel Parkinson

This was indeed a sad episode but also the beginning of something great. Give Smith a chance and you won't regret it. He is a marvelous doctor and there are some great moments yet to come.

Alex P

I already feel bad for Eric just from seeing the thumbnail

Damian Bentley

So this is it? Can I just say, though you may feel like it’s going to go downhill, I genuinely believe 11 is better or at least as good as David. I also believe you’d prefer the episodes and also the companions. I’m predicting you’ll all prefer seasons 5+6 a lot more. Or at least on level.

Nooooo! I'm not ready for this ☹️

Sarah Case

Oh shit here we go guys

Mackensie Eddington
