Dustin didn't know the little animal he got was dangerous and help hunt him when he proved to be. Mike insisted on keeping El around even after having sent of his friend flying and distract them from finding Will. So Mike clearly put his own ideas above everyone elses.

Mike is way less selfish than the other kids, especially Dustin who wants to keep his pet even if it could be dangerous (don't get me wrong I love Dustin especially when he gets snappy). Mike is the only one who really takes action on caring for Will (calling him, going to his house, being confident). In a way Mike feels hurt by El diseaperance and Will is the only link with what happen to El in his life, plus Will is hurt and need saving, it gives a prupose to Mike who is clearly not the leader of the party anymore.

I think ir's an astral projection for Will, but it's facilitated because he WAS in the Upside Down and had that tentacle shoved down his throat. So, there's a connection that facilitated the shadow monster to take over him.

They do not know if El died. Accepting a replacement girl would maybe be admitting that El might be dead and will never answer. He is having a hard time accepting her being gone forever & dealing with grief. Too hard after all they went through together & they should be more understanding rather than seeming like they are forgetting her.

In Mike's defence, I think the situation now is a little different than in Season 1. Last season, they all were 100% sure Will was still alive, and Eleven was helping them to get their friend back. This season, from Mike's perspective, everybody else has given up on Eleven and they're just trying to replace her with this new girl. He feels like he's the only one who still cares, so I think a lot of this behaviour is coming from a loyalty to Eleven.

As for Mike being a jerk about Max, one of the things I love about this show is that they're not afraid to let these kids be like real kids, and sometimes that means they don't handle things in the most mature way. They can be brave and loyal and resilient, and still take longer than we'd like to figure out how to deal with their interpersonal issues. It's all part of writing well-rounded characters.

Shane's theory about how the Shadow Monster took over the Upside-Down (which used to just be the parellel universe next door), is basically the same as mine. Eleven caught the Shadow Monster's attention when she encountered the Demogorgon and opened the portal.

you guys would HATE reading H.P. Lovecraft, because the whole idea of his monsters is that they're incomprehensible and unknowable, much like the monsters in this series. Considering how much you guys over analyze things, your minds would probably just explode.

From an acting level, this could be one of the best Stranger Things episodes of the entire 2 seasons. Not just Will's performance either. Lucas, Max, Billy, all crushed it!

The kid who plays Will is such a good actor already in my opinion. His "breaking down" moment he had was so good. I'm so glad we get more of him this season compared to the last.
