netflix already translates it. at least the part where he wrote the name of the guy on the news, and if I remember correctly there are other parts in the series where netflix translates the writing

I agree with Megan Linart, there won't be a lot of reacting going on during the show, but it is the discussion afterward that will make the videos fun and interesting to watch.

The thing about death note is the dialogue and writing is really magnetic/hypnotic. When the characters speak and think, you are just so focused and almost silent. I could start to see that with them already. I'm glad you guys are invested. It only gets better! The twists and turns will make for some great discussion.

To Blind Wave: It is "Shinigami" which is Japanese for "death god". The name is Ryuk (with an "r"). For the Note you have 40 seconds to write a cause of death, and then you have 6 minutes to give more specifics about the death after specifying it. If you don't write anything besides the name in the initial 40 seconds then they will immediately drop dead of a heart attack.

Oh here we go, down nostalgia road. The opening song for Death Note was my ringtone for like all of middle school. I've never actually seen the entire anime though, only read the manga, but I loved that. It's not one of my favorites, but I have such great memories from reading it. This is giving me a really good excuse to actually finally finish of the anime and watching it along with the crew. From that discussion I can already tell that this is going to be a lot of fun.

I like it when they react to things I've never seen before vs. things I want them to see. Now I have an excuse to watch something new and then I could enjoy their reaction of it. I tried to do the same with westworld, but accidentally watched episode 10 thinking it was the pilot -_-. I was so confused.
