Surely, this will work! Right? Can this rabble manage to catch the signals of the air pirates who sacked this outpost? Probably not, and they’d better hope they don’t catch a bayonet or sword in the side while they’re at it!
The fennec at the bottom right was the first original character I considered developing in the Talespin inspired/expanded story. What began as a fun imagined crossover hourlong special really could instead be a separate series with characters I create (prob...

Those of you who follow for my paw art - this is for you. Those of you who follow for other content, you may want to pass on this one. I’m interested to see who here is up for this, so if you are, speak up. I will gauge how much this should be a venue for my work on adult comic art.
Here are four draft pages from roughly the middle of the comic. I started with them because they show a sort of mid-stream peak that will excite people and help set expectations. The story tells of a ...

I took feedback from 2-3 trusted friends and ma de revisions for a new angle of the same pose with some adjustments.
I think the overall body pose is more engaging, but there’s not quite enough of that original expression of being lost in the lick.
After a refined version of this sketch I need to focus on figuring out what paints and cleanup work for the hatch. The oil residue and oil enamel may require oil paints.

I’d been on a search for an airplane panel with a craving to paint some nose art. My friend just happened to have a spare fuel hatch (thanks!).
I wish it was large enough to make sense on the front with the text, but I’ll have to manage with the full framing on the interior side. I might clean it up some and then recreate the dirt with paint.
Still on the fence with the pose, but I do the rear view with pawsoles so much it’s refreshing to make a side pose. Also stick deba...

I’ve prepared the time-lapse video for the Beach Bar panorama. I always knew this scene would be an outdoor beach bar or juice bar. As I added characters, the ideas of a kind of zootopian panoply of accommodations, species, and substories acreted. I did not plan this piece from the start - it came to me with each new addition. This speaks to the need to open our hearts to art that speaks to us as it’s developed. The experience of developing the work is a journey more valuable than the...

Gift art I’ve just completed for Brian Reynolds of his Gloria OC. I seriously owed him this after he’s been so generous with his time and friendship. His art and early web pages were among the few I can count on one hand that drew me into what was more than an art genre, but a real fandom.
I’m evoking company swimsuit pinup calendars of the early 90s with this one. That unapologetic graphic design exuberance just never gets old - frankly we need it now more than ever. Listen...

Trying to quickly put out some art of Gloria (Brian Reynolds). I’m trying to capture the late 80s trend of advertising an unrelated anything with a pinup. Trying to keep the proportions still somewhat toony. Going to try harder to control color/chroma of shadows in this.

It’s just too muggy in the tropical treetops for clothing to make any sense. Pants are just one more article to wash after becoming another sweaty sop, so with all the alone time up in the tower, why not skip it all. Then again it could just be laundry day. Just don’t mind the Bennet’s monitor staring at you when it comes up daily to steal a nibble of your fruit.

The watchtower rises high above the jungle treetops where well over half the island’s shoreline can be appreciated. It is the command center for their sorties out against the air pirates. It also happens to be the best vantage point for protective cover of their small air wing.
This band of pirate hunters formed out of an amalgam of independent mercenaries and the best pilots from Cape Suzette’s waterfront cargo district. After a mysterious explosion flattened most of the seaplane ...

I wrote an entire description of what I’m trying to achieve with this low resolution lighting test, but Patreon crashed out of my draft. I’m debating more haze and some sweat on the characters. It needs to look like you can stab the air with a spoon.

Her friend would push the envelope of her sense of safety - her sense of control. This is the one she trusts most, the situationship she would turn to knowing it was a safe space. He has, for some years, held a job qualifying harbor pilots for the immense responsibility of steering large capital ships into urban portlands. This work requires such finesse and complex input that the entire body is committed to the task through a form of telekinesis.
A headset and bands on the extremi...

Finally got through the labor of installing the shoreline and jungle. The hard part for me was conveying a sense of distance but while considering that tree canopy can sometimes absorb light and appear darker from above.
Another factor is the translucence of the canopy. It diffuses a very green light that can make the understory appear more saturated. A good analogy is appreciating the dark value of a tinted car window, but then a glimpse inside would show that interior to be well-...

Ok, here’s a full frame update with about 85% of the print or written graphics in place. I want every corner of this image to tell a story, and I absolutely want it to look like they have to knock over everything to get to the guns.
All things are some form of reference or are based in research. The stencil text in the rear drum represents a rare J ration briefly tried in the late 1930s - and largely forgotten by the end of 1945. The aviation maps are based on an antique I saw in ...

See? The don is a lover, not a fighter. This was done very quickly - probably 60 minutes - as it will be going into the watchtower panorama as a love letter to the ladies. I thought you all would appreciate a closeup look before it’s nailed to one of the wood posts.
Thank you for your support!

It’s been a little bit since I’ve shown much progress on this because work deadlines , a head cold, sinus infection and layoffs (not me) all decided to happen at once.
Nevertheless, the left side of the illustration shows a major update: two ropes used as clotheslines with various credentials out to dry. I have to think those are used half the time to entrap air pirates - loose lips sink airships!
I spent time looking up the best 1930s lingerie I could find. Boy was stuff blo...

Ok this is a tiny update. The last part was only a week ago, but the whole point of this Patreon is you’re getting way more progress and detail shares with large works. These are two British interwar lanterns. They would not have a reliable supply of batteries (except for one big backup for the radio). I’m assuming there may still be one overhead utility light powered by a water wheel or wind turbine.
All that’s left is a clothesline and maybe a homebrew RDF loop. The research...

Here you can see linework and base colors are completed for all items at character level. I might still put a small homebrew RDF antenna atop the radio set. The ladies can fend of approaching air pirates with the selection behind them.
While I do not know weapons well, I make an effort to dig in and understand as well as some web searches allow. A partially successful attempt was made to ensure each could have been a cheap find in the mid 1930s South Pacific. The Vickers (British ...

Here’s a major share-point on this piece. The radio is mostly done. An RDF antenna on top, and battery case below the table might still appear. This “radiotelephone” package was developed around 1918 in time to see some use in WW1 by the Americans, but lingered with some improvements into the 1920s. Presumably, these three would have picked it up as surplus. It’s an important find because it was specifically developed for aviation communication. Use of the external antenna socke...

This started as a sketch a couple weeks ago as a thank you for your support. I wanted to get something finished out to you soon. This was originally joining the Vixie fanart bandwagon, but she started to show some personality of her own so I let it become an OC. She is definitely more sly and more scheming.
I know warmer weather is just around the corner for most of us, so we’re all looking forward to those summery outfits. This has me wanting to make a necklace and loincloth just...

I’m so grateful for your recent support that I revised this sketch, gave her some quick color, and an uplifting alt, as a big thank you to all of you on day two.
I tried to give her a 90s beach bar swinger look with an outfit of someone who collects rain sticks, drinks mate tea, and gets buzzed on Zima.
This ref sheet started as fanart of Vixie, but her face structure sharpened enough that I think she could be an OC with more definition.

This piece started over a year ago with the middle character pouring one out like that pig pilot in the opening scene. I often work this way: preparing an inspired pose sketch that stands on its own, but keeping in mind it'll somehow be useful later. The concerned character on the right was drawn next and it occurred to me both would work well together. I decided their opposing attitudes, one of focus, the other detachment, paired perfectly. They were put in what I imagine is a watchtower...

I spend so much time drawing my tan/beige hybrid canines, that I was inspired to create a very traditional red fox OC. I also typically don't draw a blonde, so this was my chance to go for a different look. She's conceived as a sporty shorty that packs a lot of power in her small self. Volunteering as a youth volleyball ref/coach or just finding time to be in the sun, she's almost always at the beach. A good friend thought to name her after a really sublime beach in our region.
Both...
