To be fair though, Asami was the one to initiate it. I know she's emotionally vulnerable and isn't thinking straight, but what happened after was basically mutual.

Next episode is literally the only good episode of Korra (in my opinion), so, despite the fact that I haven't been keeping up with your reactions for Korra, I will be watching the next one.

Everyone except that one guy seems to understand how bad Mako is for Asami. Taking advantage of someone in an emotionally vulnerable state? Wow. What a scumbag.

Beginnings 2 parter: The biggest retcon in Avatar history. Hooray!

Both sides were wrong IMO. Korra was biting heads and not listening to anyone else. However, Tenzin and her dad keeping her on the compound and lying about it hurt Korra. Every Avatar going around the world also gave them a chance to interact with people and the culture of the element they were learning from. It is a valued experience that allows the Avatar to understand everyone. A lot of Korra's negative personality traits IMO stem from sheltering her and not giving her the chance to interact with people beside the ones the White Loutus deemed appropriate. Sometimes I really think that aspect gets overlooked and people put the blame solely on Korra, while excusing her dad and Tenzin's own faults in situation. It doesn't entirely excuse Korra, but her anger toward her father figures being too controlling and deceptive isn't entirely wrong.

Wow, "stupid memories", that's a bit harsh. Calvin is not happy with Korra at the moment. :D
Which is understandable, even if I disagree. I don't know, I've gone through the controlling father bit, and while I never had the kind of rebellious phase Korra did (because I don't have her temperament)... I get it. That being said, every character is acting pretty stupid here, and everywhere. It is what it is... The writing hasn't really been top-notch holding it up either, but that's really difficult with the sort of drama they're going for.
(I'm still unsure about the focus you guys have on neutrality though. Neutrality doesn't equal balance. I get the gist of 'The Avatar shouldn't take sides' except... the Avatar should take sides when people are being oppressed, which Korra knows is happening in the south, even though she might be going about it the wrong way.)
Poor Asami though. I love her so much, and she doesn't deserve any of this. Everything is going to shit.
I can kind of agree on the filling out here in the beginning of s2. I think there are some things that are important, some are world-building, but some are just timefillers. I have to say though, I did enjoy the "movers" parody version on old black and white movies. I almost wish they'd made them silent with only text coming up! That would have been a really cool detail.
And aah, Varrik. Being. Varrik. That's all I'm going to say about that.
I'm really curious what you guys will think going forward from here. I guess we can only wait and see.
The Grandpa Whiteley stories were amazing though. I'd love to hear more of those.

Varrick is just as biased as Korra is here. He has exactly the same motivation that she does, he's just using the only power he has to achieve what they both want. That power just happens to be money and technological genius.

I actually forgot about Varrick being a "villain" in this season. It made me sad because I loved him so much. I hope the hosts all grow to love him, though.

Exactly. The only one who told her to remain Neutral was Unalaq. I mean it's not like Aang stayed neutral against the fire nation army.
