Legend of Korra 1x7 Reaction Early Access!

Comments

Hi I am kania, I am new in patreon. 😊 /bodypositivekey

Nope

TbcAlex

Its new poll time lets bring back double avatar episodes!

The problem is some people like myself prefer an overarching plot like the one in ATLA rather than the different villains TLK offer. If you don't have an overarching plot or theme, which some people may argue TLK has with the whole Spirit thing, it's just not enough time for a fleshed out story. We might enjoy these villains more than the typical bad guy, Ozai, but they cut these storylines so short and abruptly that the books don't flow as well into each other as ATLA's books did.

KillApollo

That's the one area korra is better than the original, it's villains are way more compelling than Ozai (excluding season 2 to an extent)

Greg Alan

It's time for some revelations

Kito Brown

Not necessarily true form what I heard, the initial design of Asami was done without any knowledge of Lust, and when someone brought up the similarities to the creators, they liked Lust so much that as an homage to her they gave Asami the same dark color of lipstick.

Brendan Horn

I think that right now these are my favorite reactions you have. I mean, I love FMAB and Doctor Who as shows more, but while I love those reactions a lot, they're a bit more slowstarted and in the case of FMAB you had no one to guide you through the world. With Korra it's different. You already know the world, but none of you know the story or characters since before. And it creates such moments as you all KNOWING how awesome it is to see Lin use Toph's metal bending move, or the upgraded tech, because you knew what came before. And of course, I'm very happy you all seem to be enjoying Korra so much. The characters and the fights and the story. You keep having such interesting discussions and theories and I can't wait for you to see it all come together, and what you'll make of it. I love your positivity, and I think you're all going to have a blast with this show. Also, I love how you all were cheering on for both Asami and Tenzin to kick some ass, and that you love Lin so much. I agree on all accounts. And yeah, the mechs are probably the furthest stretch you'll have to make with the updated technology, but you seem to take it all in stride. :P Can't wait for this to all continue to escalate.

JojoInSpace

fun fact asami was based of lust from FMA dont know if they know that yet

Indexsage

liars! you just said I could watch the next episode right now on patreon at the end of this one! lmao XD

Mike C

No not my cabbage corp

Its definitely a lot to live up to for any Avatar

Lalisa Truong

Is your TV okay?

Exactly! I have never rewatched it, but I really should. I'd never noticed it b4!

I love that about these creators; they're willing to let characters change and develop organically, in ways they didn't expect. I love that Asami was allowed to be the rare 'good guy' who still gets to wear badass 'villain colors' (black, gray and red).

Bob Karcher

OMG NEXT WEEKS EPISODE!!!

Gregory Jackson

Dude...by the very definition of the word "more" there's more..Toph invented it. She was the ONLY one in ATLA.

Qrowe

Well its less therre are more metalbenders and more that they are all collected in the police force so it feels like alot

Burooj Ahanger

Amazing discussion, I love how this season kept Amon's origin secret and left the viewers to guess who it might be.

Rich Cassou

The Avatar seems to still be revered by people. The first batch of episodes did have people excited about Korra coming to Republic City. The wow factor may have ended, unlike Aang Korra is staying in one place. It makes sense we don't see everyone continuing to have that same level of excitement and awe. Plus there is also the fact that many people still remember Aang fondly. That might be impacting how they view Korra as his successor.

Jjop017

Firebenders started a war that lasted a century. Roughly the same time has passed as from WW2 untill now. For all the good Zuko did, that's not going to be forgotten. Firebenders are the Nazi's of the Avatar world.

Great reaction, loved the discussion

Koala Banana

There is an Amorra fanfic like that called The Cave. Of course it is AU

They already said that they will never react to anything twice a week ever again. I REALLY wish people would stop asking about that.

Mythmaker

This show is pretty good at showing how the new generation will surpass the previous one.

TrixieTurner

after knowing how certain relationships end up, i'm surprised about how many clues and foreshadowing were craftily dropped.

Robert Quill

You know a crazy theory I heard? That there could be TWO Avatars at once, like a twin soul. Korra can't airbend, but Amon moves like an airbender and can remove bending; and Aang technically "died" in the avatar state when Azula struck him, possibly rebooting the cycle with someone else. Could it be possible to have two half avatars, maybe?? :p (Just a theory!)

Sky Sirak

I'd like to share some of my thoughts on the exchange of bending techniques / martial arts in this universe and ours. I'm probably using the wrong quote but Bruce Lee talked about how there really isn't any difference between different martial arts (It should just be call martial art). Martial arts hasn't change or will change unless humans grow another appendage. Second when people first begin they all suck, and look the same technique wise. When you get the mid level there's a bit more different because they focus / emphasize their specialty. But once you get to the top level it all starts to look the same again.

Matthew Rudolph

firebenders aways do the killing and crimes..

Saviour Bawa

Im really exited to see how they react to the end of the next episode! will it prove or disprove some of their theories?!?!

bnmamz

nice reaction, I just became a patreon

Saviour Bawa

Tarlok, not Turlok.

Brandon Irons

Please do reactions to this on Mondays too, I can't wait one whole week for another episode.

Brandon Irons

Take into account that Aang has only been dead for ~16 years so these people knew him as the Avatar and now they get Korra who's just a kid to them so maybe that's why

I don't think this is a spoiler anymore, but the creators said they originally wanted Asami to be a red herring/honey pot character but after fleshing her out decided they liked her too much, and didn't want to throw her away like that

Wesley Hale

And the show isn't too bad either

Belrevan

T A R R-L O C K . I understand names can be hard to spell out when doing a fast reaction but thats how its spelled and there is no Tur-Lock its Tarr-lock.

Skeletor

Its Tarr-lock!

Leonidas: "We've been sharing our culture all morning."

Lin is awesome. Tenzin is too, but remember he is not inclined to fight (as Aang). By the way, he is gonna have his moments. I felt the same way about Amon as Eric till episode 9. Then... I still think he is the best villain, though. I will explain better later

The other thing about lightning during the time of ATLA. Only the royal family was ever taught the technique. Now that Zuko is the firelord the technique is taught to anyone who can do it.

Jake Rush

Yes

WOOOO, I love me some more Korra!

Pheonix

This is one of the best episode in Season 1, glad you guys enjoyed it
