Legends 2x11 POLL

Is there room to bring Rip back to the team?

Comments

I think it would be nice to have him back, Sara should stay captain too but rip should come back as well

BarryAllen1310

I think he's much better as a villain

Subrath Sharma

Personally I feel as if Rip was kind of holding the team back and with his absence they have grown substantially and they have each found their true callings. I think his absence has a large role to play in how well the show is doing right now

I'm currently loving Rip as a bad guy. I think his whole persona fits being bad. However once he because good again I do believe he will fit back into the team. Even though I love Sarah I still believe Rip is the true leader and always will be.

Thedeadman97

With Rip not being apart of the majority of this season, it really made me realize that the team doesn't need him. Unless they kill someone off I don't think there's enough room for him on the team.

I definitely want him back with Sara as his 1st mate but I want him to stay a villain a little longer maybe 4 or 5 episodes.

Supermonaman

I voted no not because of his role being redundant but...wow! What a great villain he makes.

Joseph Whitehouse

It seems to me the team has been working better without Rip as I think they, and Sarah, were forced to grow up a bit without him. I would love to see Rip back on the team as long as the team does not revert back to naivete just because he is there. Otherwise, fuck him.

Steven

Maybe Rip, once he his back to his old self, will start to unite the Time Masters who weren't corrupt (e.g. Captain Eve Baxter, who the Legends rescued from Time Pirates in Season 1). - Sara would remain as the Captain of the Waverider, while Rip returns to the Vanishing Point to rebuild what is left.

TimeTravelingPanda

I have nothing against canary but I don't like her as captain..

julio morales

Was never a fan. I found the actor to be really bad and over acting way too much.

CAdesignstudio

I think that twist was interesting, but really hoping not will be a long run. The Legion have lots of possibilities, and i can not way to see all new and different members! The show is great because of the dynamic and team building. Even for a not unique member like Rory can be really really useful some time and that is what i want to see soon inside the Legion to, but still need more powerful villains in the group, because right now, even for the characters are greats easy to beat them. I can not wait to see witch old nemesis will be appearing in the future episodes.

Enough people already commented about the poll, I just can't believe you didn't say anything or cut out any discussion about Mick doing the narration in the beginning. It was awesome!

GarikLoran

Rip is the captain. It's been fun to see Sara filling in, and I'm sure she'll probably maintain her role as the team's tactician/battle commander when Rip rejoins, but I think the premise and style of the show demand a character like Rip in the long term. I mean, if you think about it, no one on the team currently really knows anything about the future, or the nature of time in general. The person who comes closest is Stein, but his knowledge is all present-day theoretical stuff. Though they've been doing fine with the historical plots, leaving Rip off the team severely limits their effectiveness in any storylines that explore the more outright sci-fi elements of this universe. Also, Arthur Darvill is the most consistently good actor of the Legends. It'd be a shame to lose him.

Don't Mock The Shocker

I think some people are forgetting that it is Rip's ship when he does eventually become good again he won't becoming back as a member of the crew it will be as Captain. Rip will most likely go back to focusing on the big picture and where they're going next, while Sara will act as his second in command and focus on dealing with the crew.

WhateverIFeelLike

As second in command she would still have a pretty big leadership role she would just be focusing more on the crew while Rip deals with the big picture and where they're going next.

WhateverIFeelLike

As his First Mate/Second in Command she would still be a leader. Making sure everyone stays in line, is doing their job, and also leading missions where the group has to split up into two smaller groups.

Because Guggenheim is the executive producer and helping write the show I don't know how close they will get to the comics. Comic History Below However in the comics Rip works for a group of corrupt time travellers called the Linear Men who think that time has to happen a certain way. Rip disagrees and goes back in time to prevent a major disaster in order to prove them wrong and help create a better future. When Rip succeeds he learns how time really works and puts together a team of heroes from the past to travel with him. The teams goal is altering and protecting the past to ensure the best possible future. Eventually Rip disbands the team and sends everyone back home. He does this so that he can form a new permanent group called The Time Masters and becomes the first ever Time Master. Like I said I have no idea how close they will get to the actual comics, but Rip will probably either go back to leading the team or go on to create the Time Masters.

I doubt she'll actually get paired with anyone. We're getting close to the end of the season there's only 6 Ep. left and Amya has to go back to lead the JSA at the end of the season. They're most likely just matching her with different characters so that the show has some kind of romantic aspect and since they can't really do anything romantically with Sara she's their only real option. Plus I think if they really did want to pair her up with someone they would have hinted at it more and things would have gotten started by now.

WhateverIFeelLike

Yeah, I doubt they will drag the whole evil Rip thing out for to long. Not sure what they will do about Nate, but I know they will most likely get rid of Amya at the end of the season since she has to get back to lead the JSA, so they could always leave Nate there with her. This way if they ever need their help they still have access to the characters. Plus I miss them going to the future, I like going to the past and all, but without the future to balance it out it's kinda just stuff I've already scene.

WhateverIFeelLike

This season, no. Next season, yes. Vixen and Steel will leave the team to live together back in the 1940's. This will leave the historian role open for him.

k9commander

While LoT does change out the team each season, Rip is the shows staple character and the only character that is from the world of time travel. He's the one character that the show won't ever swap out or get rid of.

WhateverIFeelLike

Legends is not the same show as it was in the first season. If Rip were to come back then I'm confident the writers would merge him back into the team effectively.

His purpose was to rebuild the Time Masters and keep things like the spear safe. While I agree he makes for an interesting villain, they need him for things like the spear that they don't anything about. Most of what they have learned so far is speculation and myth, where as had Rip been on the team he would be able to give them hard facts about the spear how it works and the best way to protect it. Rip taught the team how to survive on their own without him, but there is still a lot they don't know about time travel, the future, and the universe.

WhateverIFeelLike

Yeah I think Sara is a good leader and Rip should stay with the LoD because he does play the villain really well and it makes the team work better together. But I do believe they ll get him back on their by the end of this season

Nyree Sullivan

Will you guys react to 5 season trailer of Samurai Jack? <3 Sorry if it isn't the right place for that type of questions.

I really like Sarah as the captain and I like Rip better as a villain. I'd rather him stay with the Legion.

Ryan O'Malley

I really like rip and he is fun to watch as a villain which is a very creative change to his character, but I miss him as part of the legends team.

Cameron Mason

I mean it would be great for him to come back but I realy want Sara to continue being the leader

Harry Utton

Thats hard to choose. I like him in the show but i like seeing sara as a leader as well

I think they've filled Ripp's role on the team, but I still think he will be redeemed by the end of the season. Perhaps he can finally step away from the Time Masters / Legends responsibilities that have dominated his life and settle down somewhere. Perhaps he can return to the old west, his favorite time, to be sheriff. In a perfect world, maybe Ripp uses the Spear of Destiny to make it so his wife and son never died and the Time Masters did not turn evil.

Tone

I like Sara As Leader Personally. I dont think he is needed now unless things are really bad then we no. My Major compliant is them trying to pair up the new girl with different male members each week.

Skeletor

With the current make-up of the team, Rip seems unnecessary. I think they'll return him to his role on the team by the end of the season and get rid of Nate to avoid redundancy. What I miss about Rip's presence is his knowledge of future technology and events. In Season One, we visited several future times (post-2017); we haven't done that this season because Nate and the team only know what's "supposed" to happen in times that are pre-2017.

mldirish14

With your talk about references one of my favorites was the reversal of a line from Star Trek 2009 by Bones "Dammit, man! I'm a Doctor not a physicist!" And Stein had a line just like this only "I'm a Physicist not a Doctor!"

Ziegenbagel

Since LoT has been described as a show that renovates cast, I'd say his role has been filled with Sara and Jax for a reason. I don't think they're going to kill him but I figure he'll need time to process if he ever goes back to being a good guy. That will also give the opportunity for him to return if they ever lose either Sara or Jax for some reason.

Erika Kobori

I'd like to have Rip back on our side, if anything else, he knows Gideon's ins and outs and how the time stream works and all that wibbily wobbily timey whimey stuff. But if he stays in the LoD than they have to somehow get Snart on that team as well. Reverse Flash, Damian Dark, Malcol Merlin, Rip Hunter, Gorilla Grodd AND Captain Cold Leonard Snart all going up against our Legends.

Jordan Brauer

Rip as a villain is more interesting. His character did not have a purpose after defeating Vandal Savage. This gives him a purpose to still be on the show.

Mary Poppins Y'all

I would rather have him as a villain, it adds more to his character.

He's the anchor to the world outside of what the characters are used to. They have done all right by themselves, but they still have a lot to learn and it is still Rip's job to lead and rebuild the Time Masters.

WhateverIFeelLike

This is really tough, he was a great leader for them, but he also makes a really bad villain for them also! Which not only creates a lot of emotional tension but intense problems as he knows most of their strengths and weaknesses physically and mentally.

Ziegenbagel

Captain Sara Lance will do just fine. Rip trained her well, and I myself would follow her to the gates of hell.

Andrew Courtney

Yes.
