Got a treat for you guys - a concept trailer for a Lara Croft comic based on Tomb Raider IV. It's similar to the Batgirl trailer, but this one's 51 pages! π
As this is a public post, I couldn't get too naughty with the scenes. That'll have to wait for the full comic! π
I was playing TR IV as it's one of the better 90s Tomb Raider games. And I wanted to do something fun with its Egyptian themes. This has the potential to be a full-blown project at a future date, and it was rewarding to build the assets to see if it can be done!
And don't let the trailer fool you - there's a lot of nuance that can be injected into the plot. Von Croy himself has a redemption arc in the games, and I think it's interesting to see how characters react when one side wins over the other. How Lara will handle her bad ending will be rich material to work with over a more expansive comic.
Paradoxically, it helps that the writing for the 90s TRs was atrociously bad. The interactions between Von Croy and teen Lara are awkward at best and creepy at worst. I wanted to extrapolate this into a more malicious intent on Von Croy's part if he got his way.
I'm definitely looking forward to Tomb Raider Remastered dropping next month!
Anyways, hope you all enjoy the renders and concept! Progress on Batgirl is going smoothly and I'll post some sneak peeks of that in a week or so.

Thanks, man! Glad you liked these little sets. It really helps me brainstorm future projects, and gives me a break from the grind of having to do scenes from the main comic. As for Indy, I'll have to see. A lot has changed in the way I render, and this makes a lot of the BoA pages unusable. I used to render the shots to have them work with Adobe InDesign, so I didn't leave much room for text. Plus, I realize now that I made a TON of rendering errors and I can't go back to the old method. But the scenes, assets, and poses are still there. So what I might do is a full-blown redux of that story when the time comes. I'll have to see. Like a lot of creators, I have to pick and choose the projects that'll be the most satisfying to do as I only have so much time left where I'm healthy enough to do this. I'm not a young man. π
