I dunno, a bit of π§still pushes here with some of the "Well, we cant have you but we need you" scenario. Little surprise up the sleeeve in the last 10 seconds there. Figured there was something like that coming. Glad he went back to see the bros tho!

I understood it as they officially don't want him to join because it would be cruel to make him keep transforming when he may lose his humanity. Rather than being worried he'll go berserk. That's why Narumi gave him the official line and then right after was like "...but fuck that shit, I don't care what happens to you. I want to kill No 9."
