Kaiju N9 said he made preparations because whenever he evolved and got a new body he most likely was referring to being able to tank the powerful blows from a powerhouse like Kaiju n8, since he was the one that fought him previously. However the burst from Kaiju n2 is more powerful, and he was surprised by Isao doing 2 because 1 was enough to put Isao out of commission in the grave. Kaiju n2 just wasn’t expecting a suicidal move since he doesn’t comprehend humans and how some are even capable of giving their life for the cause like Isao did. As for Kaiju n9 surviving, he just transferred bodies on time since he’s like a “virus” like they said previously.
