There's a Japanese garden about an hour from where I live and they usually get a small taiko performance (single drum) every year for their summer festival. A large part of the experience is from FEELING the taiko drums in addition to the audio and visual performance, it's amazing.

I practiced a martial art for a duration, 10 minutes in a stance was considered a warm-up by my Sifu. That said, it burns after only a few minutes even with practice. There's a decent amount of stance changing from right to left legs which helps alleviate a lot of the strain. I'm going to do some digging around for some Taiko documentaries, that sounds like a really good time. I'll share if I find anything good. I know that Taiko has a lot of culture in Japan, ranging from war usage, cultural festivities, and even as a discipline (akin to a martial art) but it would be cool to know more details about it's history for sure. Thank you again for the review!

Did Taiko club when I studied abroad at a Japanese university. I remember my first time standing directly in front of a Taiko drumline, that shit is INTENSE. I had heard Taiko drums through speakers/headphones before but it's a whole different experience being a few feet away from them. It's like your entire body is about to be blown away by the sheer sound waves reverberating.
