Four Color Control and Delirium Sideboard guide and matchup breakdown

Modern is an interesting point. A good portion of the field is weak to the control version of this deck. While there are also just some matchups that are incredibly hard to overcome. Decks like creativity and breach are just nightmare matchups. They both improved some with Elesh Norn. However they both have adapted some. Now that the Elesh Norn four color hype is dying down to a more reasonable level I have updated the control list and the sideboard guide with the new changes. That will be fo...

Blue White Humans (Pioneer)

Mono White has to adapt to beat what's going on. Mono White had one of the worst win rates at the Pro Tour. It got crushed and the rise of decks like creativity have put the deck in a very awkward position. One of the better ways to stop those decks is to splash blue for just spell pierce. It doesn't affect your mana that much and gives you a lot more play in the combo heavy matchups.

Honestly I was going to update mono white from the pt but I feel that the deck needs to be ...

I am working on a guide for this updated build of four color. I have been playing this some in my free time. It’s been good versus everything but combo breach. Expect a sb guide and a little write up in a week or so, but wanted to share this list for now.

Pioneer Mono White Humans Sideboard guide

Hey everyone this a link to the sideboard guide! The guide will be updated every month as the metagame shifts and evolves. As you will see its much nicer then a normal sideboard guide and has links to cards and decks, to make the whole process much easier on players who are maybe picking up Mono White for the first time. I hope you all enjoy this. Would love feedback on this style of guide as well if you have any, even if its just love it keep it up. As I am planning to make all the guide goi...

Understanding how to build a sideboard part 1

Sideboarding is much more art than science. So when talking about todays topic remember there is a lot of room for innovation and experimentation and rule breaking, however the type of sideboarding philosophy we will cover today are good outlines and guiding premises to keep in mind.

Haymakers (high impact cards)
Band-Aid (versatile cards)

Haymaker cards are ones that often lead to solving the problem on their own but are often hyper focused in their utility. For example, St...

Why everyone was wrong about Humans in Pioneer.

Well not everyone was wrong as Humans was a popular deck in the metagame for all the RC’s and had one of the highest win rates, however when going into Dreamhack Atlanta a bunch of top players and pros all flocked towards Rakdos and Arclight Phoenix. So what happened, what was the disconnect? Anecdotal in the hall a lot of people told me they thought mono white might be the best choice but they ended up playing another deck.

From my personal standpoint looking and testing for Dreamh...

New Article Series and Update

One of the hardest things to do in Magic is sideboarding. It's also something you do at least once in every single game. Yet players don't have nearly enough content on this subject so today I am starting a series of articles focused on helping you improve at every aspect of sideboarding. Over the course of this series we will cover
Building a sideboard. Covering the various different philosophies and approaches to building a sideboard.
How to actual sideboard.

Modern Tierlist

Modern is finally starting to settle down and it feels like it's time to go back in and explore the format from the lens of a tier list. What I try to take away from the tier list and what I hope you're able to take away is more of an outline for what to be exploring and doing and less of a strict guideline that you have to follow. Just because your deck isn't tier 1 or 2 doesnt mean its not a thing you can bring, you might just be at a perceived disadvantage on average. This last part is hug...

Arclight Phoenix

Arclight sb guide

Worth noting that if your playing open decklist this should be much more of a rough draft then an actual guide. While I think all guides are more like loose outlines than a Bible. With open decklist you can easily see how the cards line up. So you might see something here today that doesn't make sense with that info gained by open decklist.

The trick to Arclight in my opinion is that you are just a blue version of Rakdos. What that means is that you have less ...

Parmesan Ability

Parmesan Ability is something I factor into decks that doesn't get enough talk in magic. But what is this “Parmesan Ability?” In other strategy games they have what people call “Cheese strategies” ; these are things that win the game but are often not considered “Meta” and are exploitable in some way. Those Cheese strategies also often carry some baggage of being for “noobs.” However that's an oversimplification of what's going on in those games. In most cases what is actually...

MicroMancer Bible

MicroMancer Bible

This is meant to be a place where you can come and look at all the reasonable 1 drops that will commonly come up in Modern for your micrommancer deck. Each section will cover a type of card and every card for that color. While there are a few left off its because they were incredible outlandish and there is a level of clarity and making sure I am helping put people on the right track. So I did leave a few very fringe cards out.

After the section breakdown the...

What I would play October 15th Modern/Pio

What I would play articles are not something I think I am going to do much of on this Patreon. I mentioned doing metagame breakdowns and that will often end with some suggestions on what you should be playing.

However with the new modern metagame giving you accurate and good reads on it would be very hard and honestly boarding on disingenuous.

I have assumptions and things I can expect from Yorrion leaving the format but I can't see the future and accurately predicting all t...

Should you play black in four color for binding?

Figuring out the black splash in four color.
With the printing of Leyline Binding players have quickly adopted it into various decks in modern. With almost all going to five colors to help facilitate the one mana version of the card. This also lead popular streamer aspiring spike to try out both shadow prophecy and Soul of Windgrace in a control shell. This has sparked a lot of questions.

Should we be playing a black triome?
If so which triome over wha...

Addressing the four color forever guide.

If you had bought my sideboard guide for four color, you do not need to be a patron in order to get it or the future updates. You are in on that and it will not change until the current four color deck is banned, as originally promised.

Patrons will however get the updates going forward, but do not have access to the back log of content in that doc.

TLDR
If you bought it before your good and don't need to pay any more or ever again for the guide.
