People have mentioned it that the ending of season 3 is kind of the sequel to the first ending. But specifically, it's the enactment of what Shirogane told Kaguya about his interpretation of the story of princess Kaguya. It shows the main character use his immortality to wait until he can go to the moon to get her back.

Time for President to practice his rapping skills and oh boy....You're in for such a fucking treat I promise you. These episodes are just gonna get better and better.
