What is different about sports anime than "regular" anime?

DrumRollTony

I'm unsure about how Tony would like sports anime, but I thoroughly enjoyed both Haikyuu and UBW. I'm down to see either go on

Ryo

Haikyuu is amazing. Lets goooo.

Cyther

Can’t wait for Haikyuu!!!!

Jordon Somers

damn yall must not be watchin to be hero x and it shows😭

MGC

I don't think he would stand Sawamura yelling all time during season 1 but it is a good sport anime

d_takada18

Lots of people just don't watch seasonal anime to be fair. On top of it being a chinese anime which typically don't tend to fall under many peoples radar. I myself haven't been watching it either but I've heard great things.

peeps

Tony should also put diamond no ace on the list

XmapleX

What the heck? I’m not complaining about the other shows—they’re very great too, I was just surprised that so many people missed "To Be Hero X" and don’t even know about it, even though it’s one of the most interesting and really good series of the season and overall super cool

Vasiliy5511

Is it similar? Inspiring, positive, real life anime are my favorite. I also watched Blue Lock, had a different tone, way more aggressive, but still very inspiring, learned a lot!

Arian Abdolahy

Looks like it's gonna be Haikyu, definitely one of my all time favorites! Damn, Dandadan, Samurai Champloo, Haikyu... damn, I'm in for a treat.

Arian Abdolahy

Speaking of sports anime, I still hope there will come a day when a great animation studio takes Eyeshield 21 and gives it the anime it deserves. It would undoubtedly become one of the most popular sports anime, but it got "Berserked" and it barely got any recognition 😔

Unbeknownst Man

I'm voting for hero but I'll be happy with haikyuu too. One of the best sports anime

Lora

Primarily because UBW is probably the best fate in terms of not being slow like zero was, but more so because Ufotable is unmatched visually lol

MegaRaikou64

Haikyu is going to be so peak

SimplySora

OKAY, if Tony watches (and likes) Haikyuu!!, I'm recommending Slam Dunk next, pulling all the stops!

Unbeknownst Man

I’m surprised fate is an option, I thought he didn’t like it

who is this guy

I don't know anymore. Would have NEVER thought he would like Love is War.. Out of everything on this list Haikyuu is most pleasant so I choose that and I bet it'll cause so many tangent tonys lol. Parasyte and Fate UBW are both good but both main characters are so boring. parasyte has a really bad sound track in my opinion and Fate UBW is childish like Rezero so I don't know. In a vacuum I like Fate UBW the most.

Fuji Nami

Interesting to see haikyuu winning. I'm not much of a sports anime fan but honestly, part of becoming an anime fan is trying every genre and sports is one of the big ones you haven't touched yet.

Aritome

I think he mentioned in a Kaguya episode that he likes volleyball

An Nguyen

It's got to be Haikyuu! Best sports anime of all time in my opinion, and the ost from Yuki Hayashi is so good!

V STAN

ohhh, haikyuu!!, hmm, its a highschool volleyball anime, so i don't know if tony will like it or not, i know hes in the seattle seahawks drumline, but how into sports is he, is he a volleyball fan, to be clear a large amount of screen time is going to personal development so its kinda similar to football/baseball movies, the question is whether tony will be into it or not, don't know, excited to see

Red Menace

As much as I really want Fate to win, I am so down for Haikyuu to win as well

Alejandro Pupo

Fate is nice and parasyte are also good but it's time Tony saw a sports anime haha.

Drow1270

As much as I like Fate myself I gotta go Haikyuu for your and the Patreon's sake, lol. Very fun and hype show and definitely a great intro to sports anime. FSN is a bit more accessible than Zero IMO, but really anything Fate or Type Moon related is going to require a pretty big commitment to understanding a lot of complex and mildly vague background lore to get maximum enjoyment out of (I eat that kind of shit up personally but I know it's not everyone's cup of tea). UBW might still be worth a shot at some point though, does at least have some great animation and fights.

Tan11

Right? I mean it’s fine if it’s dead last, but by that much? People missing out for sure.

Sarai

I think he said during a Kaguya episode, that he wanted to watch a sport anime some time

Mike

I mean, watching a sports anime is kinda like watching a battle action anime. But the people don't really die and the battle/power system are the Volleyball rules. So, as long as he likes the storyline there'll be no problem. Also, Haikyuu can be relatable in different ways, not only the sports part.

Lixien

Haikyuu always gets me hyped and is in my top 5 so I'd be happy if it wins. But personally would rather you watch Parasyte and not risk a sports anime since it's a new category and you might not like it.

SKAOG

Haikyuu

XmapleX

Haikyuu is great, appealing even if you're not normally into sports stories.

Leonard Martinez

Haikyuu is incredible. The first episode has a slightly different vibe than the rest of the series, but on the whole it's so damn heartfelt.

NJD Hardage

Haikyuu is good vibes all the way. Fate: UBW was too anime for me but you made it through Eminence in Shadow so maybe not for you, To be hero X is okay, Parasyte the maxim is pretty good but it has that OP that you didn't vibe with due to the metal screamo autotune stuff (but the band name is pretty sick "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas")

Tuny kun

I have to think on this one. There are certain things with most or all of them that may either clash with Tony or the platform. I wonder if the rule of 3 would work here? For example, the previous Fate was good in of itself, but didn't go with the many things that Tony has going on. This Fate is pretty much similar. It does have more fight scenes, but it still has a ton of lore and social platform snoozing dialogue. But it is a bit sad that Tony will miss the stuff. Or like Haikyuu, which is a High School setting and inspiring. However, it is not a band setting, but a sports setting. Even though band plays at sports events, and Tony is familiar with high school as a teacher, will it be relatable? Etc, etc.

Walt D

100% parasyte

R4IN

Not saying the others arent great, but imo people are sleeping on To be Hero X. And the OP is a real banger.

Alexiel Knight

Parasyte!!!

Kamisch

Not too sure about that. Yes, they talk a little less and the action is nice, but the characters are younger and more immature. There will be a lot confused stares at the camera...

Niklas Neumann

I still feel like you'll enjoy UBW more than Zero, but you'll for sure like Haikyuu

Sakeef Salman

Haikyuu might be my favourite sports series. Looking forward to watching this one again for sure!

Isaac Noël

P_ateric

Damnnn all of these are really good

kiwi

YeSSSSS Haikyuu!!! If there's something you'll vibe with immediately is the OST, that's for sure.

Lixien

Oh hell yeah! A sports anime...and a good one as well
