🔴Patreon update for iOS users
Added 2025-02-28 20:56:34 +0000 UTCJust got an email stating that memberships purchased through the Patreon app for iOS users will have a 30% charge added on from Apple. That is WILD. If this impacts you, I highly suggest that you purchase memberships for any Patreon viewing via web browser on your phone in place of the actual iOS app. Web is the better way. Android users are not impacted as it seems there is less corporate greed.

Apple always been shitty and anti-consumer. Not surprising they'd do this. Now that the rest of tech has long caught up and their longtime strategy of forcing customers to buy in fully to their ecosystem or be locked out of functionality has started to fall apart, I'm sure they'll continue to find ways like this to try and rip off consumers at any turn possible.

Nowadays trying unsub is a pain in the ass and they do it on purpose. If they’re adding these charges to also deter people from being able to unsub easily then that’s just crazy. Well done with my rant, just had to put my tin foil hat on xD

Though I did switch my payment method, so no longer using Apple Pay for subscriptions :P Not just Apple, with the way the economy is going expect extra charges for many other things :(

LMAO the viewer is spending so much for the creator to earn SO little. What a horrible business model. That is why I phased out subs for streams as an support incentive.
