Re:Zero Ep 14

That new op is the most unaesthetically pleasing thing we have heard on Patreon 😭😭😭

Re:Zero Ep 14

Comments

I love the show but if you keep praising the show to someone who clearly doesn't enjoy it nearly as much as you do you're just gonna make them like it even less bro

Dakku

@dakku Why tho, just saying objectively the show is good, subjectively u can hate it as much as u want

Jonas Teigen

Many other reactors that watch multiple things at a time I've watched seem to do well releasing 4 EPs a week of HxH (eg NicholasLightTV). It's still fine to release 1/2 episodes a week to viewers though as you do for most anime, but the main things is for you to watch anime in batches for yourself (ideally minimum of 4 EPs at a time, more is even better), because fundamentally is a better viewing experience when you binge chunks of these types of stories. Maybe you could employ a rotation system, where this week, you watch x episodes each of 3 anime, and then watch x episodes each of another 3 anime the next week. The idea is that number of anime multiplied by the number of episodes matches your current total episodes watched in a week, so that you aren't spending more time than you are right now. (Or slightly reduce the number of eps since it will probably be harder for you to find longer slots of time within your schedule). This way, you're also consuming the media in chunks Would like to know what @fuji thinks as well, I wonder how they're watching it. Personally I had a bunch of free time, and I concentrate on only 1 anime at a time (which is another benefit of not being a reactor), so I had the ability to thoroughly be immersed in the story. Do let me know what you think Tony if you have the time to read this, I think people will be understanding of you trying to make anime in general a better watching experience for your own enjoyment. Could also do the new easier way of editing to save some time where you overlay your camera onto the screen.

SKAOG

Yes I know, I think we are misunderstanding each other: if we flip it around and say I hate vinland saga because I don’t like fighting and gore. It still does not change the fact that the show is a masterpiece, correct. Flip it back to u and it’s the same with rezero, u can dislike or hate it but it’s still an amazing show. Am I wrong?

Jonas Teigen

Jonas man you're embarrassing us Re:Zero enjoyers

Dakku

I said I was done replying but the teacher in me needed to help you understand the main point here: sub·jec·tive /səbˈjektiv/ adjective 1. based on or influenced by personal feelings, tastes, or opinions.

DrumRollTony

Yea it would take all day to talk about what’s good, bad and better, but u only 15 eps deep. And honestly I don’t understand why u don’t like it except of the cringe stuff. Right now it’s looks like every other fantasy story, but the story is deep and very very complex, but yea ending the convo with that. Honestly drop it if u don’t like it after ep 15 because that’s when most people get hooked on the show. if u don’t then its not your type of show.

Jonas Teigen

@fuji How else would someone watch it without being a first time viewer?

DrumRollTony

Idk hxh is such a slow burn, i know the pay off is worth it. HxH hasn't hooked me personally until around episode 50 but i saw bits of potential early on. Don't get me wrong i think HxH is a masterpiece of a shonen but I just think it's not friendly for first time viewers. We have to hope the setting and concept hooks them before the story kicks it into high gear.

Fuji Nami

I think you are missing the point of my replies here. It's all 100% subjective from a viewer standpoint. I have certain requirements that need to be met in order for a show to be viewable. You wrote defending your POV saying things like "not trying to be disrespectful" "I'm just saying it as it is" You don't need to defend anything. Its all good. But you wrote as if its factual and only one way. It's not. The shows I listed have some really good writing and great characters as well... not all of them but a large amount of them. You cant dismiss them all of having no depth when this show is deploying growth at the rate of a snail. I am literally 15 episodes in and am still waiting for a moment... so many of those other shows gave me something before 15 episodes. What is so unique here? A kid that is needs an ego death because he is young? His characters he interacts with have past trauma? There are villains included in all sets of obstacles and adversity. LOL that is like every story in media that we consume. Anyhow, I cant spend more time replying to this stuff

DrumRollTony

I know! But it is a major reason why Re:zero is so popular. He asked how so many people like this anime. In my opinion Re:Zero is one of the best isekais but isekai as a whole is a low bar to clear (but maybe after jobless and slime it got raised a little).

Fuji Nami

Yea sure I love those shows they can be more entertaining for u, but rezero is a reeeally good written story with great characters. That’s why I say better, but other shows can be more entertaining even tho story and characters are kinda basic or with no depth. But it’s up to u what u you like to watch

Jonas Teigen

oh fuck forgot Acane

DrumRollTony

"saying it as it is" Let me say it as it is then... here are shows that are immensely more entertaining and worthwhile sitting in a chair getting fat watching that I have seen on here Demon Slayer Mob TAD!!!! Your Lie in April CSM Death Note Sound Euph Kids on the Slope Dan Da Dan OPM ummmmmm Girls Band Cry Cyberpunk Oshi No Ko Konosubaaaaa

DrumRollTony

Sure, better than all EXCEPT like Vinland saga, steins gate, code geass, frieren, mob psycho and jojo. But if u don’t like it after ep 15 then its not for u. I’m not trying to be disrespectful og negativ, im just saying it as it is.

Jonas Teigen

"better than most shows u have watched on patreon" Make a list.

DrumRollTony

its peoples fav because of amazing storytelling, character development, ost and more. U have to look at it from Subarus perspectiv as the teen gamer he is, he is an amazing character that grows as the show goes on. The only thing is that it can be cringe and slow at times, but that does not stop it from being a masterpiece. I can objectivly say with all seasons its really fricking good and better than most shows u have watched on patreon. But if u dont like it after next ep then respectfully, its not for u man. @DrumRollTony Reacts

Jonas Teigen

I would say Hunter x Hunter works precisely because it's not a normal Shounen, and has the vibe and storytelling of a Seinen (especially after a certain point of the anime, don't want to spoil more for others), while having the fun action in each episode to keep his interest, and build intricate plot over many episodes.

SKAOG

Pls don't compare Evangelion to re zero or he will never watch eva lol, completely different vibes

JoeyGuy7

I veto cringe tier elevation 👀😫🤣

DrumRollTony

I was never interested in isekai animes cause they all seem generic, uninteresting, boring and just bad. I decided to follow this one through your reactions and the more we advance the cringiest it gets. This shit deserves to be promoted to cringe tier it gave me chills at moments.

Jhon 1479

The one thing I've noticed with Re Zero here is that you're not commenting on the soundtrack much, which I thought would increase your enjoyment of it. I guess the more epic tracks have yet to come. I think, as most people have said, if the next episode isn't to your liking, I'd drop it. Although it does have some of my favorite tracks in anime in the upcoming episodes. To each his own! (I agree Full Metal Alchemist is overrated as you dropped it, so I understand you dropping any that doesnt vibe with you).

Chris Johnson

We've seen those KKK guys before in the backstory of Ram and Rem, where they cut off Rams horn and burned her village! Erasing villages seems to be their favourite activity!

Tristan

I love how you keep it honest man lmao

Bleckers

I agree. Idk about Hunter x Hunter... that's a commitment and the fanbase is so high strung. Since he likes steins;gate and vinland saga I would recommend something seinen like Stand Alone Complex, Hellsing Ultimate, Beserk (1997), Monster, Black Lagoon... maybe parasyte (imo the sound track is god awful). Sadly the best seinen is locked behind manga. For the cringe tier: Gantz. I can't see him not like Gantz lmao

Fuji Nami

Part of the reason why some people like this is Evangelion and the hunger pangs for another anime to fill that massive hole (you might remember the 'unfamiliar ceiling' quote earlier in Rezero, that's an evangelion reference (https://youtu.be/-wrguf3s0fk). Kind of signaling to people like me to get excited). They're completely different where it counts and I don't think it fills the hole. It's enjoyable in it's own way. I'll be kinda sad if you end up dropping Re:Zero but understandable. I think you need a different kind of forgiveness for anime based on light novels. There's much less impact aesthetic one shot frames, but more focused on dialog, settings, and character. *If the next two episodes doesn't hook you then it'll be a safe drop. You'll be tortured like Subaru if you force yourself to keep continuing lol. It'll be more of the same.

Fuji Nami

As others have said, I think if you're not hooked by the next few episodes, then it's a safe drop. I think i'm spotting a trend where slow burning anime with an detailed but overarching plot is not your type of anime, eg FMAB, and now Re:Zero. And as I've mentioned many times, these anime are hard to watch on a 1/2 episodes a week format. It may work for other action packed shonen like JoJo, One Punch Man, Mob, JJK since they've got interesting things happening within each episode so your attention and interest isn't lost watching on a weekly format, but these slow burning anime are better watched binged so that you still remember what's going on and have the arcs delivered all at once sinc they build on the overarching plot rather than what's happening in the mini arcs, which is unfortunately the exact opposite of how you're consuming them right now. I think Hunter x Hunter (2011) has a good balance of both of these things, because it has interesting standalone episodes, but also builds on the overall story, so it works on a 1/2 episodes a week format as well, which is probably the anime you should be watching on Patreon.

SKAOG

I always skip the 2nd op everytime

Axarionn

Agreed.

Mike

I had no illusions about you liking this opening so I'm not surprised by that reaction. As far as the show itself, I'm not 100% on what part is bothering you, so it's hard to assess if where the show goes from here will address that, or it more has to do with how the presentation of the story is in general. Did you enjoy the show initially in the first death loop? Do you enjoy the show more when he's in more direct conflict (things are happening, he's getting killed) and less when it's like the last few episodes, or do you find it a drag in general? I can't really tell from these reactions where you're biggest concerns are directed. You lashed out at the cat boy but that feels like it's cause you were already over it. The same thing happens in Stein's;Gate with Faris NyanNyan doing the same cat noise bit whenever she talks, the only difference is you were already having a good time there lol. Currently, Subaru is a conceited prideful child. He demands that everyone else needs to understand him, but doesn't bother to understand anyone else. If he is your problem, then I'd say the show would be worth continuing because that's a major point of this arc, his shitty attitude, and that it needs to changed and he needs to grow up. If everything else surrounding him bothers you, then I guess it's just not suited for your tastes so no point in me trying to sugarcoat it.

Nick K

i wish catgirls were real

kinetic98

lol "the bullshit cat character saying ''nyow'' or whatever"

kinetic98

Pretty much.

Jet Man

I'm not exactly sure as to what his specific issues are with rezero, can someone explain a little? just asking out of curiosity since idk if he said anything specific

Alpora

I think if by the end of next episode it still hasn't hooked in, it's a safe drop

Alpora

Hey the best part of Solo Levelling for me was you bashing the OP, but I'm all for skipping this one.

LegionaresCZ

Accurate

DrumRollTony

My general guess is the show being a slow burn (specially these arcs) show and him not being invested enough in the characters. Keeping up with a lot informtation when you kinda don't care about a lot of the characters is kinda boring to do. Some people that like Re:zero can be here for the anime waifus, or the cat character, the weird comedy, the Isekai setting, etc and can be entertained while they are dealing with the slow plot, but I don't think those apply for Tony. Instead, he has to deal with the bullshit cat character saying ''nyow'' or whatever while he's also trying to keep up with the plot.

Lixien

I've noticed Re:Zero is one of those shows that if it fails to hook you it's a frustrating experience. I generally like the show now because I kinda understand what it's going for, but I felt the same way as you the first time I watched season 1. I feel like this one is gonna be a drop for you. I highly suggest Madoka Magica if you watch a show with magic and mystery but that doesn't have the issues that you have with Re:Zero.

James Moss

ngl I’ve not been keeping up with this series but I have been entertained by the comments on the posts 🤭

Chelly

It kinda wasn’t clear on my first watch through but I’ve since noticed this is the part where Subaru believes in his own hype too much. After that drink with Crusch he pretty much comes to the belief that I can fix anything by just dying and restarting when there’s trouble. Of course that’s a great power but he believes it to the point where he starts smiling when he finds out Emilia is in danger, cause that means it’s his time to show off and save everyone. It’s complex because he’s not even wrong because without him they would be very dead, but leaning into that too much can start becoming very toxic. Everyone tells him that he can’t do shit, but it’s because of his care for Emilia mixed with his kind of “Fuck you” nature when ppl talk shit that the plot even progresses. Think of each arc as like a Boss Fight, now with all the knowledge he’s gained and people he’s met, he has to find some way to beat this boss, or else we just gotta reload the last checkpoint lol

BlakStatik23

🤣

DrumRollTony

You shoulda said what you wanted about the OP . P3 fans are already crushed, might as well hit the Re:Zero fans too lol. (I've never watched this show but I know the fans LOVE this OP and Myth & Roid).

Tuny kun

Not this one, but the next one. It was in one of those videos, where you reacted to multiple ops. It's the op of season 2

Mike

I'm very aware of what discrimination is in fiction

DrumRollTony

I heard this before?

DrumRollTony

Would be interested to hear your overall problems with the show, because you've mainly kept it internal apart from a few things (such as personal confusion and what you felt was a jarring departure from the initial few episodes), but I think knowing in more detail the issues would be good knowledge not only so we can understand better as viewers but also know if it's a problem that will persist as the series continues or if it might begin to fix itself in the coming episodes. Obviously regardless you're entitled to your opinions and don't want to come off as attacking that, but as someone who does like the series I'm simply just curious if it's the typical stuff that most people tend to cite as why they dont like it or something less touched upon.

Danyul

Season 2 op is great again. Pretty sure you liked it, when you reacted to it a year ago. It is interesting how opinions differ. I had the same thing with Mob Psycho, where I just didn't understand why people liked it so much.

Mike

A few days back I listened to every rezero opening and when I got to the second one I thought Tony will hate this so much xdd

Sk dragon

Damn, thats my favorite Re Zero OP too LMAO

Alejandro Pupo

The whole reason why Emilia the love interest of our main character Subaru is so discriminated against is simply due to her resemblance to the witch. The reason why just the mention of the witch drives people crazy is because in their world the witch is like the equivalent to the fear people in the Harry Potter world had of Voldemort . Just like mentioning Voldemort in the Harry Potter series would get people to look at you in a certain way that is the same level of fame the witch has garnered in the minds of the general public such that any mention of her or let alone any resemblance to her is going to draw the ire of the general public due to the fear that has been ingrained in their hearts. So anytime you hear the witch brought up in this series think about Voldemort from Harry Potter

Mohamed

I'm caught up with Re:Zero but I haven't been following your vids on it since I was here for a dif anime, but that title is fucking hilarious HAHAHAHHA
