I respectfully disagree. To say it "lost everything that made it special" is to insinuate that the only thing that made it special in the first place was the high quality animation and art direction. Season 2 is every bit as funny as season 1, introduces some of the best characters in the show, still has all the same incredible OSTs and voice acting that season 1 had, continues to build the world in interesting ways and set up some of the best future villains. Even the animation which so many people insist is terrible is still good, I think the bar is just set so incredibly high in season 1 that anything less then the 11/10 animation quality of season 1 is gonna end up looking worse by comparison.

Season 1 was a thing of beauty that managed to adapt the insane artwork of Murata due to the efforts of many talented animators throughout the industry coming together to work on it. S2 was handled by a different studio and lost everything that made it special in the first place (to put it bluntly) and ended up looking average at best.

One Punch Man is definitely the natural follow up to Mob Psycho but I'd still love to see any of these shows on the Patreon in the future. Especially Hinamatsuri which is personally more my preferred style of comedy anime over One Punch Man.

People that don't get their prefered show are always going to be more vocal about it while the ones that get their shows or understand that popular shows are just going to win will just vote and move on. Some people think that it's better if the reactor makes their choice because that way the show is chosen by "what the reactor thinks it's better" and lesd about popularity, that way their niche shows have a chance to win. But people will comolain anyways, so you just can't win. My take is that this is paid content so the majority that is paying should get their show. That how it should work even if I think it sucks sometimes. (I want Hinamatsuri to win at some point, but what can you do?) Also, some people that complain are not really complaining to you so you can change things, some are just venting that their shows never get chosen.

2024-11-13 16:26:22 +0000 UTC@d_sword sadness, just tried to look it up, there is no legal way to watch darker than black in the US, and im not savy enough with vpns to try to mess around to see where its legal to see, and i really REALLY dont like pirating anything, the only time i personally think its acceptable is when there's no legal way to watch it, still.....

I personally find it funny, and ya probably one of the most organized patreons ive seen lol. love the collections tabs, makes it easy, but ive seen many comments asking about shows that are in there, i just think that people either don't watch all them, post before looking at it, or just say what they like? Idk. either way i super appreciate it, most patreons will either watch fully on there own lists, which is fair enough, others will only watch on chat votes, i think you strike a good middle ground, though i died laughing when you added the degen tier, just wish i could afford it, chefs kiss reactions im sure.

Additionally, the membership tab, when you join, lists out each title I have done per tier. Nothing is left to guess. Obviously a repeat title can't make the poll so it's safe to assume it's a valid choice. It's comical that giving the community a voice to vote is something that is complained about but I'm 100% not surprised

2024-11-13 16:09:20 +0000 UTClol, no i get that @DrumRoll, that was my point, each of the none mass appeal anime are small but highly liked by there audience, so not surprised they are up there, but out of all those titles only 1 has the broad appeal to everyone. Also i know from just how polls work that not everyone is going to speak and ask for something, especially in relation to making a simple vote, the vote portion will have a higher engagement vs suggesting, then on top of it alot of people don't know what youve covered, so most "casual" anime fans will just repeat the same big ones over and over, meaning that as you go through the big ones the others will become more and more likely lol. sorry wrote a book in response again, kinda passionate about statistics, know its nerdy as hell

There's definitely opportunities to both though.

At the end of each anime, I ask you all to drop your suggestions for what you'd like to see next. We record each title and count how many times it's recommended by the community. From there, we take the top 4 or 5 most suggested and put them up for a vote—it's really that simple. Occasionally, I’ll throw in a personal pick, but that’s not what’s happening this time!

I don't know the age and anime fandom demographic of the patreon but i feel like a substantial portion might not have seen or even know about the others, parasyte is an older anime, even i've never seen or heard of darker than black(seen well over 200 anime at this point), hina is more than niche while still being niche, and golden kamuy will appeal(like the others) to a very specific demo(history buffs and anime lovers overlap), its also a senin. One punch man, especially the first season, has a super wide, for the whole family type appeal that has that level of, mass appeal, meets good enough writing, meets fantastic music and animation that almost all levels, ages, and severity of anime fandom will know. And yes, i know i wrote a book.
