Fate Zero Ep 6

I think I need some summary help with that last conversation

Fate Zero Ep 6

Comments

Great comment though I definitely like knowing more lore

kinetic98

I feel like I need a phd in studies of type-moon universe from Tokyo University to understand fate lol

kinetic98

You can tell when Daru changes his voice to make an impersonation lol.

Lixien

I'm sure somebody probably mentioned it but it's hilarious watching this after Steins;Gate as Gilgamesh's voice actor also voices Daru in S;G. Both badass in their own way but completely different voices.

Joe

Damn. Welp 🤔

DrumRollTony

Man i didn't realise how much content actually the Crunchyroll version cuts. I know you are fine with the Crunchy version Tony, but man you are missing out...

Elite968

Its one of my favorite things in fiction - Lancer master talking about all his magic barriers and other magical shit, and then Kiritsugu is like, check this out, C4, how are your magic barriers doing? Someone using modern technology to fuck up magic users.

Lukasz Sobiecki

I share in your enthusiasm for this fictional world. It can also be presumptuous of me to assume I know what is appropriate to infodump or not, and what is best discovered organically reading/watching type-moon stuff yourself.

Auks

Sorry... I didn't mean to sound like "you need to know this" it's more like if you know maybe you enjoy more...

かもめのたまご

you are right maybe too much info at once... sorry I got too excited...

かもめのたまご

The important stuff right now out of all that is the counter force, the root and the 5 magics. The rest dont really play into F/Z and FSN and might be info overload

Nusutto

Also when lancer’s master was talking with his female companion he stared at Lancer’s mole and made an annoyed expression/noise. That’s because Lancer, revealed as Diarmuid, is famous for his ‘love spot’ which was placed on his face as a (curse iirc?) that makes all women who see it fall in love with him. So lancer’s master realizes to some degree that the woman is being charmed

Avalon

Caster gave his name as Gilles De Rais, who was a captain during the 100 year war and close friend to Joan of Arc. Hence him mistaking saber for Joan. (Jeanne De Arc if you’re fancy)

Avalon

I agree, caster’s yelling/screaming is characteristic of him and in perfect quantities. Reminiscent of the greatest Mad Scientist, Hououin Kyouma!!!!!

I feel like the comment from かもめのたまご oversteps a bit too much. Only the part about the Root is relevant. Tokiomi mentions in the beginning of episode 1 that his motivation for getting the grail is reaching the "Source" which is just the Root under a different name. The Root is explained in more depth in other Type-Moon/Nasuverse works but not in Fate/Zero from what I remember. It's the source of all magic and magecraft in the Fate/Nasu universe, as well as all events and phenomena, its also where all souls go to rest and where the souls of the servants were summoned from. Almost all Mage families dedicate all their lives in the pursuit of reaching the Root/Source, because in reaching, touching and understanding it, means attaining the capabilities of God. I like to think of it as the Fate universe equivalent to the hypothetical source of causality and spacetime in our real world, the place that existed before space and time.

Auks

Wow thank you for the comment! and thank you for amazing reaction🔥

かもめのたまご

In the first few wars there was no church to moderate the ward. So its kinda unofficial and a seperate system to the grail thats why theres no real power the rules have.

Nusutto

Thank you 🤘

Don't worry Fate series is very complex and hard to understand when you're starting. Here is some non-spoiler key info that won't be explained in anime but will help you enjoy the series as you go deeper. I'll try to make it as simple as possible and only focus on Fate stuff. I'm Japanese so sorry if I make any English error. -Parallel World Fate series belongs to Type-Moon universe, which contains several parallel worlds. These parallel worlds were split based on the outcomes of major historical events that happened in the universe. Most of the Fate stuff takes place in one of these parallel worlds (few exceptions). This Fate world also splits into different world lines when big events happen, and one of them leads to Fate/Zero. -Counter Force Two different invisible counter forces exist in this universe: Gaia and Alaya. They used to be one force but they split as humans developed separately from nature. Gaia is the will of the planet and prioritizes Earth's survival. Alaya on the other hand prioritizes survival of humanity. In Fate world, Alaya force is much stronger than Gaia. -Origin of Summoning Each time humanity progresses, evil karma is produced. This karma will eventually take form as Beasts, representing humanity's sins. Beasts are a threat to humanity so when a Beast appears and humans are about to face extinction, Alaya force will summon 7 strongest heroic spirits called Grand-class servants to protect humanity. Summoning of normal servants and the 7 classes of the Holy Grail War are all based on Alaya's summoning, and servants can only be summoned in Fate world. -Magic, Magecraft, and Root The definition of magic is very strict in Type-Moon universe. If something cannot be achieved with the power of civilization in that era, it's called magic, and everything else is magecraft. As technology improves the number of magic decreases. For example, flying was considered magic 1000 years ago, but now we have airplanes, so its been downgraded to magecraft. All magic is connected to the Root as long as it's magic, so achieving magic can lead you to find the Root. If you find the Root without magic and are the first person to succeed in that method, you grant new magic. Most mages goal is to reach the Root, not to achieve magic. Magic is just a tool to reach the Root or something you gain as a result of reaching it. Only 5 magic exist in modern times (called 1st-5th magic), and 3rd Magic is a key element in the Fate series, especially in Zero/Stay Night. Fun fact, if you reach the Root or achieve magic, both counter forces will try to eliminate you from this world lol. Sorry for very long text...

Kirei was born unable to find joy or purpose in things that people normally find them in, and doesn't believe he has a use for the Grail. Gilgamesh is basically just saying that everyone has SOMETHING that makes they want and that makes them happy, that Kirei just doesn't know what it is yet, and suggests using his observation of the other Masters to help him find it.

NonsenseDictionary

Gilles de Rais, a leader in the French army during the Hundred Years' War, and a companion-in-arms of Joan of Arc. He is best known for his reputation and later conviction as a confessed serial killer of children. crazy dude Also sadly the source you are watching from censored the episode heavily, @6:14 the scene with caster and his master, the scene kept showing you a pillar over and over again, That scene was supposed to have alot more gore in it. would advise going to an alternative site to watch what you missed.

Haiiro

It seems you're watching the censored version which is why there was a bunch of stuff happening off screen and why it just kept showing the same shot of the pillars. Just letting you know if you care about that.

Frizen

And at this point in story, Kirei has looked at all the masters and their backgrounds to do research and assist Tokoyomi (Archer's master). Out of all the masters, he found Kiritsugu quite similar to himself whether it's in background/tactic/past actions, and through the conversation with Archer, he has developed an interest in knowing Kiritsugu's motive in participating in the war to potentially find the reason of why the Holy grail has chosen him (or maybe his internal motivation that he himself is unaware of). Archer's motive to inspire Kirei here is still unclear.

P_ateric

Remember the line in the 1st episode where they mentioned kiritsugu would do anything. Even bringing down an entire jetliner just because his target was on it. Guess they weren't lying 🤣

Lichrin69

Kirei was raised by his father to be a servant of the church and to follow church doctrine. This made Kirei robotic, devoid of joy in life and at this point he thinks he's incapable of finding things that bring him joy. Also, he thinks searching for things that bring him pleasure is a sin. Gilgamesh more or less tells him there's nothing wrong with seeking pleasure, which conflicts with his upbringing in the church.
