Steins;Gate Ep 16

This anime is comfortably in my top 3 and will likely stay there.

Steins;Gate Ep 16

Comments

The Suzuha letter in dub is genuinely one of the best moments of voice acting ever it makes me distraught every time I hear it

ScaringCrows

Whatever you do, do not listen to ANYONE that says to watch it in chronological order. Finish this series before moving on to anything else steins gate related.

Chaisen

Same

The rewatch value on Steins;Gate is great, I've probably rewatched it 4-5 times (a few times were with friends). Highly recommend checking out Steins;Gate 0 after you finish this, it really completes the whole series.

who is this guy

Welcome in and thx for the support

DrumRollTony

Had to subscribe here just to see Steins;Gate reactions! It's been my favorite show for the last 8 years. So glad you're enjoying the show this much, just like I did. It's rare to find reactions to SG, and especially from someone who truly likes the show.

Zed

Just something to think about with the Divergence Meter. Braun mentions how Suzu was always staring at it frustrated from her medical bed, but because Okabe is the only with the Reading Steiner, meaning he retains his memories through world line jumps, he's the only who will know when it has changed. For anyone else looking at it, it will only ever be the same number they have ever known it to be, because whatever it shows them will be specific to that timeline and the memories that everyone else has in that timeline, except Okabe. Hence why Suzu said he should hold on to it before she traveled back in time (in the timeline where he helped her travel back). Since he sent the Dmail and didn't help her this most recent time, she never gave it to him and Braun ended up getting it with her house. You can only imagine how hard it would be to carry that thing around knowing what it does, and that you could never actually see it working because to a normal person it will never look any different.

Nick K

I'm confident that you'll only love it more as it resolves. It's so hard not to say more!

Erika

Its quite reasonable to believe it wont move from at least top 5. Its still in my top 10 even after 20 years of anime

Nusutto

I hope that you are telling him to watch in release order and not chronological order.

Hoji

I love rewatching this anime. Every single time there's a little detail or interaction you missed before

AsbestosDust

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

DrumRollTony

"Who the fuck is the mom?!" Jeez, man. Sound a bit offensive to Daru.

d_swordfish

Just watched YouTube videos to clarify the concepts. Realized if you draw map of the time line, it's actually not difficult the understand.

Hey Tony, since the nature of the series is timetravel, the actual watch order can get kinda confusing depending on how you want to go about it. Also I don't think crunchyroll even has all of the extras. Do you mind if I send you a watch order somewhere?

Bautista

Lol that would be fun but definitely won't happen on twitch

DrumRollTony

It's like what we all have in mind, but you are the first to speak it out loud. In dub. Steaming live on Twitch. And about 30min discussion with chat after each ep. Sounds like a plan that will never be brought to life xD

d_swordfish

I would love to see your rewatch reactions. Feel like it’d be a lot of fun to see you talk about the episodes knowing what you know after first watch

Mouse

Hear me out...stains;gate rewatch reaction? 👀

GardeninTool

I'm not going to state any spoilers, this is just confirmation of what happened. After Suzuha's suicide, Okabe sent a D-mail as per Suzuha's request to not stop her from going to 1975 during the rainy day a few episodes back. This actually worked and she was able to go to the past with her memories intact and thus different reason of death.

skrrt

A great episode to rewatch after this one is episode 10. There's a whole lot of details related to suzuha if you pay attention. I won't spoil the rewatch value here tho lol

Belac

Oh wow. I have actually always been interested in their meeting. Never knew there was a manga spin off of that scenario. I will look into this when I get time. Thanks for letting me know 🙏

Parampreet Singh

There's actually a spin off manga with how Suzuha and Mr braun met in the worldline where Suzuha dies from illness, and I've read that it's a very interesting read, but the manga itself was never mass produced.

James

They could not have rushed the 1st 10 eps. It would not have worked. I still found them interesting though

DrumRollTony

Nah not suzuha’s age she would have been fairly old by 2000 cuz she lived all those years starting from the year 1975 where she jumped to. But I meant okabe’s age in the year 2000(the year suzuha died in by committing suicide) it is 10 years in the past, for Suzuha, okabe would be a kid since in 2010 he is 19 that is why if suzuha made contact with okabe in the year 2000 he would be 9 years old. We just get a fast forward of the whole thing from okabe’s pov(where nothing really seems different) but for suzuha she lived out her whole life till the year 2000. Even for okabe it was a few hours but for suzuha it was 25 years. Which is why she told braun to hand over the letter on that specific day of 2010 cuz she knew everyone would be together waiting for her.

Parampreet Singh

Great

Loayza

Your interp of the time machine is that you step out a different age?

DrumRollTony

I am 100% saying yes to everything and anything steins gate

DrumRollTony

1. In episode 11 of Steins;Gate, Okabe explains to Mayuri that they are building the time leap machine, and that sending D-mails to the past is too "chaotic." This indicates that time travel, other than sending D-mails, in Steins;Gate does not cause the worldline (or timeline) to change, or at least to change dramatically. In the previous episode you watched for Terminator 0, the prophet explains to Eiko that she'll be going to "a past" which indicates physical time travel can cause the current timeline to change dramatically. 2. People will often complain about the slow pacing in the first 11 episodes, but the care in building the characters and world is what makes this episode more impactful. The scene between Suzuha and her dad was wholesome even though Daru was still acting like a pervert. 3. My top 4 anime are AoT, Vinland Saga, Steins;Gate, and Ghost in the Shell. I have other anime that I enjoyed watching, but they don't really come close to my top 4.

James

He already told on stream he gonna be watching every Steins;Gate related stuff. Def coming, not sure the order though

Dario Lizardisilva

Got into the Patreon for the Steins;Gate content, def my favorite show ever. Glad you're liking it!

who is this guy

Cause you mentioned thinking about AoT and Steins;Gate's placement in your top 3: for me AoT had potential to dethrone Steins;Gate but I personally wasnt a fan of where the writing went after season 3. Steins;Gate on the other hand for me just feels like the complete package. Obviously not gonna say anything else cause of spoilers but the quality of Steins;Gate's writing just carries through to the very end. So for me, Steins;Gate is still probably my #1 of all time. Although I do still love AoT seasons 1-3

Flare

Maybe she didn’t go to okabe and rather went to braun in 2000 after she got her memories back because he would have been like 9 years old so it probably would not have worked. But braun was still an adult at that point she could communicate with and knew.

Parampreet Singh

so glad this anime was chosen

Tyler

Do you guys think he will watch 0 after this? I think it's better to watch it right after. This show too epic, I remember not understanding the concepts but the story is crazy.

CK C

Man, this show is easily highest tier for me during my whole anime journey. Every time I watch it, it's warming my heart. Yea, things are hard to process at first watch. But if you rewatch it carefully tracking worldlines Okabe's jumping, keeping in mind some previous episodes (like the one was referenced today - with the rain, when Suzuha left them first time) and maybe making notes of timestamps that are shown on screen - then the show answers all important questions. It is pretty good written for a time travel story, where it's easy to make tons of inconsistency and mistakes. Can't wait next week. As usual.

d_swordfish

Steins;gate is the kind of anime that is much more interesting when you don't understand 100% of what's going on. It makes you go "WOW!" when a revelation happens. This includes parts that the person misunderstood or missed. That's why I'll never understand people who give spoilers to someone. And please guys, let's not add explanations even for parts that have already happened because there's a bias that makes the person reading it think about "why" you added that explanation (except for things Tony explicitly asked about). Sorry for the long comment, and great reaction as always! (and sorry if there's any English mistakes... I'm Brazilian so sometimes I notice that we formulate sentences differently)
