Great episode
I hope it gets resolved but I can see her rising anywhere she is

The Apothecary Diaries Ep 12

Comments

"shes still property" ya in pretty much every culture on earth till like the 1940's-1980's depending on how you look at it, women were property, now how that manifested obviously has massive differences, but i think that it adds to the power of the show, shes a strong female protagonist, figures out and solves shit on her own in the world in which she has no choice but to be in, which is why it only works if she is a well written and nuanced character, obviously there's some "animeness" in the show, but still. freakin love it

Red Menace

im curios, i know you do alot of music, and deal with music alot, do you personaly deal with/enjoy eastern music? to be more specific classical east asian music, ala korea, china, japan?

Red Menace

I think this ep is like when japanese people do this troupe about like read the room and get a hint, is what happened to them.

Budoy

The mind reading thing really is kinda of a japanese thing. When I was taking japanese, sentences like "so about yestarday" youre just suppose to know what they mean and assume the context.

Nusutto

I think the miscommunication in this particular series stems more from social hierarchy than anything else, Maomao is smart but a little socially dense; she doesn't see Jinshi as anything more than a superior who stands at a very high ranking. She sees that shes just a commoner a serving girl and in the grand scheme of things has to make sure she doesn't overstep that (not that she hasn't) but in a professional discussion such as her occupation and being laid off she tries to handle it in a roundabout way instead of direct- because shes the one below Jinshi in power, she cant be disrespectful and speak her mind she thinks she could lose more that way. Yes that's common in these cultures, but here its simply that being in two very different positions of power makes it hard to communicate directly, thus the assuming they know what the other wants/will do.

Yuyu

I think that is not necessarily a Japanese media thing. More of a general storytelling element, especially in stories with a romance factor. A lot of romance drama comes about through the communication and miscommunication of feelings.

Jet Man

You'll notice a big theme in Japanese media is people's inability to communicate their interior feelings to eachother. Obviously sometimes it's just a plot device, but it's also a bit of a cultural thing (at least from what i know from friends that live there), in Japan you're kind of expected to read people's mind to know what they're feeling sometimes

JoeyGuy7

Excellent. Perfect timing indeed

DrumRollTony

thank you much!!

DrumRollTony

People in apiculture are known as beekeepers.

Jet Man

Apiculture is another word for beekeeping. Apis is latin for bee.

Multimikstar

Next episode will have new OP and ED, so doing the ED reaction would be perfect timing.
