Steins;Gate Ep 14

The rope analogy is just pinnacle context within this story 👏
I love this anime so much.

Steins;Gate Ep 14

Comments

I would highly recommend "link click" if you want brain protein shit

Adam

Im also late but holy a shinsekai yori mention? That would be kino

aramis alfons

I'm late to these reactions but since your loving this show you should check out Shinsekai yori and Monster. Similar sort of vibe that isn't 'mainstream anime' and hardly anyone reacts to.

Kaiser the Elitist

Terror In Resonance fucked me up hard! Absolute fantastic anime!

Jarrod Davies

Really glad you are enjoying the show so far mate! You should totally do Steins Gate 0 after this season, I think you would really like it considering what you are liking from this season. I will make one suggestion if you don’t mind, the intro song is a lot better if you can find the English subtitles to know what it’s saying, really helps with the emotions the song gets across. Anyway, hope you enjoy the rest of the show, loving the reactions to it

How Sneaky

That's what I wound up doing for my first and second watch.

Erika

Maybe for this show he can do a rewatch in the dub prior to Zero if he moves onto it?

Dakota Schmidt

This is one anime for which the sub and dub are neck-and-neck for me. There are some things that translate so much better in the dub for an English audience (some humor hits a little differently), and J. Michael Tatum is absolutely phenomenal as Okabe. I prefer the Japanese cast overall, but I've seen both and I don't think you're missing out with going one over the other.

Erika

maaan just let the guy watch it in sub the va make the show 10 time better

SLMNDRsa

imo the Steins;Gate Dub is one of my favorite dubs

86exe

Hell no, Overlord is teenage cringe

Adam Clamp

Weekly request to put psycho pass on the poll for replacement

kail santini

Fate is awesome too

SinuHan

There’s one OVA and the movie that were released before the 23B OVA and Steins;Gate 0, and he’ll probably continue this slot with those.

James

Please!!! if you enjoy watching Steins Gate, watch Steins Gate 0 it's the second season of the show, A lot of people who watched Steins Gate didn't end up watching the second season. I don't know why in my opinion it's just as good as the first.

marlin

It was recommended planty of times on discord, during streams, in comments to other episodes... Keep your energy, guys, for the "recommendation" episode. Usually it is last ep in series.

d_swordfish

If you're looking for serious/thriller recommendations my top pics would be -From the New World - potentially my favorite anime story, based on an award winning novel, based in "utopian" future kind of like the famous book Brave New World, it's a bit of a slow start but very worth it (kind of like S;G in terms of where it goes later) where you just get some world building but once you're invested it goes wild places. 25 episodes -Parasyte - probably one of if not the best horror/action anime there is. Not much else to say. 24 episodes -Psycho-Pass - another "utopian" future society, but it's setup like a crime thriller. First season is a perfect show that works well on it's own, but there are followup seasons and movies that have had varied reception and are not needed if you are content at the end of season 1. 22 episodes (1st season) -Inuyashiki: Last Hero - this show is all gas no breaks, you start with a main character who's a like 40 year old man who looks 70, living this just depressing life, and next thing you know crazy things are happening and everything is on fire. Intentionally vague because it's a short series so could easily spoil otherwise. 12 episodes -Ghost in the Shell - super iconic sci-fi anime masterpiece. You should start with the first movie that came out in 1995. Top to bottom it's pure art and probably right up your alley. After that there's another movie, and then you can move on the anime series with Stand Alone Complex which has two seasons. -Olives belong on pizza - I'm sorry I just have to stand my ground on this

Nick K

Cool to year you are enjoying it so much. If you want more Steins Gate, the anime is actually based off of a visual novel of the same name. I'm not big on visual novels, but the game hit me hard.

Niko Daisy

Terror in Resonance is also made by the creator of Cowboy Bebop, so you know, if you needed another reason to be interested. Very different style, but high quality.

Nick K

Agreed, it's also the best anime of all time.

Refia

Damm the way you are feeling about Steins Gate reminds me of how I felt watching the Fate series and getting into its lore for the 1st time (would recommend). Looking forward to the next SG ep

Lichrin69

Spoilers :(

SimplySora

Agreed, although I think by the point it goes super in depth with it, you’re already too invested into the plot. Never met anyone that’s dropped the show halfway through

madcoop

Evangelion is my GOAT anime but I feel the existentialism really loses some people when they watch it.

Ryan Pebeck

I’m surprised to not see anyone recommending Neon Genesis Evangelion. Maybe you’ve already seen it. It’s an older anime (90s) and it may seem like a silly action mech anime at first but it goes really in depth on the human psyche, existentialism, and mental issues. One of my favs and definitely “brain protein” especially in the later episodes. Plus the OST was done by the great Shiro Sagisu

madcoop

Check out Steins; Gate 0 - it’s (I guess) the second season of the anime. It’s excellent as well. Between the two, this is a top 3 anime of all time for me.

Sam

Tony you will love Berserk 1997 I guarantee you. Berserk has one of the best stories ever imo

kinetic98

"Shinichirou Watanabe stated that the music of Icelandic band Sigur Rós gave him visual images that inspired the series and its soundtrack. He also states that the team went to Iceland to record the music." I second this recommendation, and I love Sigur Rós.

Kevin Baker

It may have been me because I was trying to tell someone else that something they revealed was a spoiler but I pretty much just deleted it immediately because it really wasn’t necessary. Sorry if you saw the notif. The information wasn’t that big of a deal anyway so it was better just to not say anything, so apologies all around that was my bad.

cue

Yes I realized that too late. I read their reply wrong. I am so mad at myself rn

Parampreet Singh

It was not them

DrumRollTony

Omg I felt so bad man. I read ur replies on previous eps. I am assuming u live in Japan considering the kind of knowledge u were sharing. But no problem with ur English. It’s totally ok. Don’t mind it at all. I will be waiting for ur return. Good luck on ur English journey

Parampreet Singh

ur kind of a heart warming person I respect. anyway I really feel shame, so I shall return and revenge past myself-ENG. ↑I believe native never use Eng this way. sry my i○S regi doen't work well...spell go to berserk. U may accept like I was saying like this... forign musician should react all the "JAPAN RECORD AWARDS“, K-ON and HIRAS○WA (p-m○del) right now! vibes. It's really the 1st time cause I think the composer dislikes it. anyway, I run away with tears but return at least till winter holidays. I will watch his reviews of S;Gs all, silently. This is not the time to listen to something EEZ🚀 of morning.

koax I.N

The only reason Kurisu was so embarrassed by her future self with the whole wanting her own personal fork thing is just because since she's from America, she's bad at using chopsticks so she wanted to have her own personal fork and spoon at the lab which she's been too embarrassed to admit.

Marthan

Well that sounds intriguing

DrumRollTony

Demon Slayer won that poll and S;G was never picked because Tony decided to make a vote replacing Code Geass in "classical" anime slot where was no place for S;G.

d_swordfish

Good recommendations bro. Monster and kaiji. Both r so crazy and dark heavy type that I think fit Tony’s taste more. Monster even more than kaiji i imagine if he doesn’t get turned off by the slow burn😭

Parampreet Singh

A very underrated anime that I believe you´d enjoy is "Terror in Resonance" (also called "Terror in Tokyo"). It´s a very serious anime with a brilliant story and great music throughout the show. It´s also only 11 episodes long but man let me tell you this shit leaves you changed when you´re done, definitely on the level of Stein´s Gate imo

Ster_arch_13

Ohhh wait never mind. I misunderstood. I thought u were the person who spoiled the show that Tony was talking bout after the opening. I am so stupid. I didn’t read ur first comment properly. I apologize for the confusion. Really sorry bout that 🙏

Parampreet Singh

In an alternate timeline, some shitty YouTube comment tells Tony that Stein's Gate is too weird to watch and he should avoid it. The dark timeline where Tony never watches Stein's Gate. 😱

Jet Man

I just realized that I made a lot of grammatical mistakes. how dishornable and annoying to English user and Tony. I don't really understand even it was U (・・me?) for I have commented only I think till epi 4, at couple days ago. anyway ur right and something justice. thx for giving me to needing explain's idea. ...u know how much time...long?it took some minutes to rep after I did 👍 I fear to use Eng(low voice

koax I.N

Btw I would recommend Psycho-Pass

Gael

Will you be watching the second season? It call Stein gate Zero.

Gael

Re:Zero from the same studio (White Fox) would def be up your alley in the future as "brain protein" as you put it. Some similar aspects to S;G, but a much broader scope of character/story exploration since this story is more self contained

Danyul

dr stone would be a good one to watch as well

javier calderon

I wish I could wholeheartedly recommend The Promised Neverland. The first season is so good. But unfortunately the second season really drops the ball.

Alberto Munoz

It’s so soo nice to hear ur demon slayer shit talk— I mean “critique”. Such a breath of fresh air. The fmab one i don’t mind lol. It’s definitely not for everyone. Initially I thought u would like it but the more of ur other reactions I watch I understand ur taste in media better.

Parampreet Singh

Oh so it was u. Man that’s unfortunate I am guessing u were tryna explain him something but ended up giving spoilers. But don’t worry I am here for the long run as a fan unless something unexpected happens to my finances

Parampreet Singh

Yeah, I'm aware, just saying. These two animes (along with Psycho Pass) are ones that I'm 99% sure that someone that enjoys like, serious shit like Vinland Saga would enjoy as well. Just mentioning another thing that could interest you from Kaiji since I remember saying that you enjoyed the Death Note OST.

Lixien

I have death Note reactions on here

DrumRollTony

I just have canceled but I think I shall return after studying Eng. plz support him, for I am a fan. non relate to spoile, but wrong communication for my poor eng, it's my fault.

koax I.N

Tony I highly recommend Overlord, Im 100% sure you’ll like it!

Abdulla Al Hashmi

Ok fess up who pissed off tony by writing spoilers

Parampreet Singh

Also, my recommendations for animes to watch are Monster (amazing thriller, lots of questions) and Kaiji (Kinda like Squid Game but way better, OST by one of the composers in Death Note, the tracks that were more "guitar heavy" like L Theme)

Lixien

Strongly suggest psycho pass and parasyte. Parasyte is one of the shows that people think is well written. The story is complete, there is no major bug that people always complain when they see Anime characters doing stupid decision. I personally suggest K-on too, it's more relaxing vibe and the songs are good. Also, NANA, one of the shows that I think everyone should watch once😂😂😂 Every time the endings start, it's just 😭😭😭 Finally, seriously I suggest Gundam. 😂😂😂 I suggest Gundam 00, as the story, idea, conflict of the show are good. But I would say watching the movie Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway first would be better. Just one and a half hours long and I think it could capture people to watch Gundam. The production is really good.

CK C

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣💀💀💀💀💀

DrumRollTony

I really like this too. The plot is good and the way people act is more real, It's like how they really talk and do in real life. I think he likes this kind of shows.

CK C

But I don't want any spoiler info at all tho

DrumRollTony

The concept is good, but I don't think he would like the anime type of behavior and personalities that the characters have in the show. Like demon slayer zenitsu, as otaku or anime dudes, we know there are certain characters and plot that are set because of the culture. Like tsundere or characters that always want to fight for no reason. That's why I think AOT and Chainsaw man, Vinland saga are really good, one of the reason is because the interaction, dialogue and personalities of the characters are how people really act in reality. While typical Anime tend to exaggerate it a lot.

CK C

Remembered when I watch this i was in HS and I would usually watch 3 o 4 ep per day but I couldn't concentrate the next day just on my head thinking about crazy time travel stuff. It was amazing

WithoutName 98

Short drop on that spoiler stuff that was discussed on discord: Yea, unfortunately, the guy spoiled appearance of time machine in this EP but I can confirm that it does nothing about Mayuri's death at all! Period. If this guy already saw S;G he simply didnt get that there is no causal (caus-and-effect) relationship between appearance of time machine and Mayuri's death in the show. Now some traditional remarkrs of mine after the episode: 1) 0:56 - the scene with green gel-Mayuri. When I was watching the show first time I was like "wtf is that comming from". And I started building a theory like Okabe did so many time leaps that he also collected knowledge of how to build time machines for physical time leap (not only transfer memories). Remember the episode when they hacked CERN database and got access to reports of time travel experiments where all humans died turning into green jelly substance. So I thought that Okabe assembled his own time travel machine and was so desparate to save Mayuri that he forced her to go somewhere in the past in that time machine built by him... But he failed and she also turned into jelly which is consistent with idea that she must die anyway. I was so pumped by that idea so I went reading Reddit about it. But the story behind it is different and this scene with jelly-Mayuri is just a reference to Visual Novel (I didnt play it btw). Dont gonna talk about content of VN (for not spoiling guys who gonna play it) but if you know - you know. It's pretty cool thing. So yea, this show is much fun to rewatch! 2) You said smth like "the idea of having a journal of what happening... is so dumb. Why I even thought about that". Oh we were there! Actually I thought the same during my first watch. This show makes you thinking in that direction. So you're not alone here. Beautiful series. Can't wait 2 eps next week. They are perfectly coupled!

d_swordfish

I don't know he likes such junle and as u know its original is too long to treat also animated ver. as far as seeing reriew of S;G he sometimes became scarely clever one, but it's doubt to suite such junle. actually I am just a new commer here and I don't know well, but I think it will be ok to recommend after 3rd from October.

koax I.N

I'm so fucking thrilled with how much you're enjoying this show, it's one of my favorites and it's absolutely top tier. The rope analogy is fantastic, glad they weren't blasting it -ImaBigassMoose

Zach Harding

Berserk and Vagabond are King imo. Unfortunately as you said, Berserk doesnt have a single perfect anime adaption, however besides the CGI in some areas I honestly think the Golden Age movies are a decent way to get into it for a first timer. Its how I got my friend into Berserk. He's since read the whole manga and loves the series as much as I do

Flare

Seconded

Flare

Good info. Ghost in the shell sounds like we need to do it Remember, I see all comments regardless of being deleted on the app.

DrumRollTony

SPOILER: this anime is about time travel

Belac

I really enjoyed playing Anonymous;Code, and I hope that one gets an anime someday.

James

Ahahaha... Ma-a-a-an. This is still not done in my "life to-do list"! Oh, no...

d_swordfish

That's good info

DrumRollTony

1. I made a comment last week, and while I thought I was being careful and vague with what I was saying, I guess someone took the comment in a specific context, and responded with the "spoiler" comment. There was a subtle difference between what I said and what the person was saying, but I deleted my comment anyways. 2. Some time ago, I was watching a YT video by someone who claims to have done research in philosophy (believable based on his videos) and who reviews video games and anime, and he calls Steins;Gate "groundbreaking." So, in this episode, it's mention that "humans are temporal beings" and this is a reference to Heidegger's concept of Dasein. By this, we say that humans are unique beings in that we are aware of time being limited in our lives, and our unique response to this awareness is to find meaning in life, do something meaningful in life, etc.; knowing that we're going to die someday is a defining characteristic of humans as beings. There'll be more to say on this in the future, but you can think about this while watching these episodes. 3. "The divergence number indicated the worldline's location." In real life, David Deutsch, who is currently a physicist at the University of Oxford and a proponent of the Many-Worlds-Interpretation, suggested that we'll be able to detect these different "worlds" with the help of a quantum computer. Interesting stuff. 4. Since people are suggesting anime to watch, I'm going to again suggest watching the Ghost in the Shell with highly recommending the 1995 movie first. Imo, it's one of the most philosophical anime movies with stunning visuals (stunning even by today's standards), and there is a lot to discuss when it comes to the ethics or existential themes involving A.I.

James

🤣💀🤘

DrumRollTony

Do yous think he would enjoy Re zero?

Gatsu

::SPOILER:: This anime is awesome

AntonJ0™

C;HEAD... how do I tell and recommend him NITROPLUSrelated works? as not native English speaker, it's difficult 4 me, to describe without spoilling. (study Eng more, I know...) I always leaave it to other veteran-SENPAIs, but it seems u know well and are also Kyoto-ani key-Clannad fan, plz challenge to recommend those if you are ok.

koax I.N

While I am 100% on board with your recommendations I really wouldn't classify Zankyou no Terror as sci-fi, at least from what Iremember of it (Still a good recommendation if you liked S;G though).

Klarin Black

Wow never realized re:zero was the same studio. A lot of similarities in the story

JoeyGuy7

FYI Steins;Gate is an Adaption of the Visual Novel with the same name which is part of the "Science-Adventure Series". The other entries like Chaos;Head, Chaos:Child and Robotics;Notes also have Anime adaptions, but sadly those were pretty butchered compared to the original. Studio White Fox, which did the Anime for S;G and S;G 0, notably also adapted Re; Zero and Katanagatari which are both pretty beloved Light Novel adaptions. I don't know if you are aware of VNs, so here is a quick explanation: VNs are essentially interactive books that also have images, music and (usually) Voice Acting, most VNs have multiple endings, often corresponding to a specific character along with one "True" ending. Other Anime that are adaptions of VNs would be: The Fate Series, Clannad, Danganronpa or Higurashi. There are quite a few others but those should pretty much be the most popular ones. Another message that turned out way too long because I can't limit my texts.

Klarin Black

"How cool would it be to know japanese" uh oh, Tony really is going through all the steps of being a new anime fan lol

JoeyGuy7

I recommend Psycho-Pass too

Loayza

He already watched AOT, judt didn't react to it. I second Psycho Pass!

Lixien

That is awesome to know

DrumRollTony

This really highlights how important was the first half. Getting to know the characters, Okarin acting like a delusional goofball, things like "conspirations" and "fate" that was just for laughs actually happening right now, etc

Lixien

What an episode!

JoeyGuy7

This is my first time watching Steins;Gate. I tried watching it YEARS ago but dropped it after the first episode cause I did not like Okabe's "chuuni" personality. Really loving the story and all the characters, and considering that I've dealt with Zenitsu a couple of years ago I didn't even flinch at Okabe the first few episodes now :)

Xoulium

I highly recommend Psycho-Pass and Attack on Titan if you want smth serious anime

UnknownDeadpool

Now we know why Rukako (the former boy that turned into a girl after that dmail) was still present in the lab with a similar dynamic, and why they still knew Feyris even after she sent hers, even changing the whole city, those questions you had have been answered ! As for good anime like this, there are others of course, but two of the best are not adapted to anime yet: Berserk and Vagabond. Along with vinland saga, these three are hailed as the big three of these types of manga. I'd really really recommend picking them up and reading them on your own.

Unknowable

That's good info. Man this is AWESOME 👌

DrumRollTony

Just to answer the question, this was originally a visual novel developed by .5pb/nitroplus They have another ones that made it into anime as Chaos:Head, Chaos:Child, Robotic:Notes, Occultic: Nine but unfortunately they nowhere near as good as Steins:Gate series. If you want to see some more Sci-fi I'd recommend Psycho Pass, Ergo Proxy Zankyo no Terror or even cult anime as Serial Experiments Lain

Dario Lizardisilva

Suzuha's mic drop line at the end SHEEEEESH

Ryo

8:20 We don’t know what she wrote either. You will find out later by inferring from events.

skrrt

In this episode, Michael Tatum (Okabe's English VA) said at a convention a long time ago, that he got so absorbed into the role during the part where Okabe was tied up in the car. He started bawling after the recording finished. Hats off to Okabe's VA from both the JP and English dub. They killed it.

GardeninTool

not spoilling just recommending comment↑ surely, I won't do any spoilling so I comment about ODEN Can-info^^; plz don't do spoile, SENPAI of this ch m(_ _)m

koax I.N

Nitroplus is beautiful and dangerous, even if the current vice president famous wrriter is not in the work...

koax I.N

Its still crazy to me how the Ending song goes from "This is pretty cool" when you start the show to "There couldn't be a more perfect vibe after watching one of these episodes" once the show starts getting heavy. Feels almost like a totally different song when that piano hits once shit starts going down
