2024-09-07 02:58:39 +0000 UTCBack in the day when the animation used to be crap, ova's were special because it was when the animation team goes all out and uncensored. I assume OVA episodes was used to sell VHS's dvd's and blurays in Japan. These days they're like filler episodes and the TV animation is so good now there's not much difference. Also other than nudity there's really not much censorship anymore. It feels like half of ova episodes is either about the beach or Christmas lol. I'm not sure if this is based on anything in the manga but I'm leaning towards no because Regan thinks mob is playing tricks on him which is slightly out of character and this feels like an one off episode.

Sometimes they adapt manga chapters that were cut out from the original show for various reasons. In the case of this OVA, this little story is not found in the manga and was just written for the anime however they did get the manga author to write the episode which is kind of cool.
