am i the only one who enjoyed and didn't have a problem with s1? im an anime only enjoyer, and wont read the manga no matter what anyone says, but regardless of that, i think the anime stands on its own as a great anime, best theres ever been no, but still great

Red Menace

What a fantastic episode. Got me rooting for bro in less than half an hour. I love anime

The stuff with Melt had me tearing up… the raw emotions conveyed through the animation/music really helped ensure we felt similar to how the audience must’ve felt in the moment. And many people have felt like him, incompetent and struggling with imposter syndrome. It’s impossible not get hyped up when a character like that can show how much he truly does belong where he is.

An adaptation within an adaptation done so well… Just how do they do it?

8:25 - I got a Ghost in the Shell vibe for a moment with the music there. It is a pretty distinguished vocal sound.

kind of weird that some people need something as shallow as “revenge” to keep themselves invested. Seriously, revenge wasn’t even relevant to the 1st episode until the very end lol. The reason people had some issues with season 1 (whether they want to admit it or not) is because many episodes went by without drama. There is a lot more that this story is trying to do and revenge is just the motivation of one of the MCs but in reality he’s not actually the center of this world and he has to navigate it as such.

Since the first season OnK has focused on representing the entertainment industry with idols, life action adaptation and reality dating show. Revenge is only the motive or the "excuse" to relate to that world and it is left out, that's why the first season received criticism saying that only the first episode was good. Probably in the second season it's more noticeable because the 2.5D play is a longer arc. Anyway I'm glad you're enjoying that side of the anime, as it's what made the manga so great for me. By the way the whole colourful sequence to depict Melt's growth wasn't in the manga, the adaptation is awesome.

And yea i always thought the manga was at its best whenever the aqua stuff takes a back seat

Damn, they really went all out with the sword tricks for his moment in the show. In the manga he just threw the sword in the air in a cool way lol.

Whenever you see someone talking like "yers" or using a lot of slang like "I've taken a likin' to 'im" in the subtitles it's usually signaling a Kansai accent from Southern Japan, typically considered more rural and less elite than a Tokyo accent. Eventually you'll be able to hear the difference too
