There's some people that in Discord calls, specially with people that they don't know, prefer to stay mute and text in the chat because they're just bad at social situations. This is kinda like that but very exaggerated lol.

I know you mention rewatching it in English after the initial reaction, but do you plan on rewatching after you finish the show? I HIGHLY recommend it, the amount of small details and clues you pick on makes it such a fun rewatch

Three more notes for this episode! The first note is the concern for the raw egg. Eggs in Japan are actually pasturized much differently than in the US, to such a degree that it's actually entirely safe to eat raw! What seperates the two is stems from the Chicken and the Egg itself, with Japanese chickens regulated so they're all vaccinated against Samonella and other diseases. The eggs in the US are overly washed and sanitized using chlorine that strips the outer coating of the egg off. In contrast, Japanese eggs retain their natural protective layer, using UV disinfection which santizes the egg within seconds while keeping said protective layer, reducing the risk of bacteria penetrating the shell at all. Second Note: As Mr. Tony noticed a few times and got a bit jumbled, Okabe Rintaro likes to use random English words to emphasize his speech and make himself sound more 'cool' DESPITE not actually knowing how to read or write English. This means that he knows 'cool' words like "Nostalgia Drive" but conversely can't even read basic English such as "Okabe is an airhead". He's just a drama queen like that lol Third note! 9:03 when The Zombie bumps her noggin on the table Mr. Hououin remarks "Stop trying to show what a klutz you are." What he's *actually* saying is "No need for the Dojikko appeal.' Dojikko is a Moe/Dere term, a term used for characters that are clumsy in a cute way, but here's a excerpt from an article written about them (unfortunately Patreon comments don't have markdown so bare with me here): > To understand dojikko, we must first define it. Breaking it down in Japanese: “Doji” means to blunder or to be clumsy, while “ko” can mean child or simply be a feminine suffix. When combined, the additional “k” in the middle is added due to Japanese word structure, forming to make the term “dojikko”. > In literal terms, dojikko means a blundering youth or clumsy child, and can apply to both males and females. But, in the context of most anime, it specifically refers to young women who are clumsy in a cute way that is downright precious. https://myanimelist.net/featured/1653/All_about_Dojikko__Who_Are_These_Clumsy_Cuties Also, Makise-san quickly retorted as if she knew what this obscure term was! Lol For the term 'Cheap ass' in Japanese, Daru says "チェッ ケチくさ" (che, ketchi kusa). The 'che' part is just the onomotapeia for the annoyed tongue clicking, but it helps turn 'ketchi kusa' into 'Cheap-ass', as otherwise it'd just be 'Cheapskate' or 'Stingy' as the regular translation without the 'che' part.

11:27 cheap ass is “ケチくさー” Kechikusa—. Kechi is cheap, kusa— is short for kusai, smell

This is probably my 5th time watching this

Oh, by the way. When they were brainstorming the name for e-mails, Mayuri proposed "Back to the Mail" which is of course reference to "Back to the Future". But Daru also proposed name "The Mail that leapt through time" which is also a reference to 2006 anime-movie "The Girl who leapt through time". A good one.

I will say I can never get over how clever this show is after you’ve seen the whole thing at least once. This is like my 6th time watching it through and I’m still picking up on little details and bits of foreshadowing that I didn’t notice before.

AussieBoy

3 eps in a week proves Steins; Gate is real😂

SinuHan

3 eps in a week? Must be the will of Steins Gate So glad you're watching this show man

BTW at 10:20ish you seemed confused that okabe didn't understand the message, it's written in English in-universe too. Usually we see English translations on screen but this show doesn't since there's a lot of English text and japanese text

Tony predicting Daru's dialogue is too funny

Eli L.

Its not the first time the message gets cut up. In ep 1, remember when Daru received a message from Okabe saying Kurisu got stabbed? And that he thought it was spam because it got split into many parts.
