Getting to see someone's first EVA experience especially someone like Tony who pays attention and really takes it in is like one of the most interesting and engaging second hand experiences out there. As far as seeing someone's first experience with a series goes it's on par with Vinland Saga (especially season 2) or whenever someone watches a defining genre deconstruction series for a genre they at least beforehand understand the core parts of, like Madoka Magica for the traditional magical girls genre or Devilman Crybaby for the chosen one action drama genre.

Still a little too much fighting in the script tho
