Next Anime for Tier 2?

So I will be finishing 'Your Lie in April' soon.
We need to have some ideas of what you all want for the next title to join the Tier 2 set.
It would be helpful if you reply to comments on titles that you like or thumbs up to them.
Anything for me to assess so I can create a vote based upon the most popular 3 or 4 titles.

Thank you!!!!

Next Anime for Tier 2?

Comments

Ghost In The Shell Stand Alone Complex

neZiiak

If you're down for a musical; Revue Starlight is about about students competing (via duet/stage combat) for the lead role of the school play.

Alliterative Alias

Eighty Six (the ost is very interesting and different, and its also made by the same guy who did attack on titans iconic soundtracks)

Yuyu

Hunter X Hunter!

Bjarki Höjgaard

Made in Abyss (OST by Kevin Penkin) or Violet Evergarden (OST by Evan Call), both amazing story wise

Ryo

Arcane

Resonaire

Ao no Orchestra another classical related show

Arcane

ZodiacBeast

Other than the weird shit, the show is really damn good, but unfortunately that and other stuff like that IS in the show.

TheGoblerTrainsMovinIn

I know several others have suggested Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood and I dropped a like on those but throwing this comment in just to say I think you'd really enjoy the story of this one, when I first watched it I binged the whole thing in a few days I was so hooked!

Yeah… that’s not what happens.

Tip: Instruct us for the next time to only comment an anime once and to look through the comments for the anime we want to mention. That way you have to read waaay less comments and we can all just give a thumbs up to the anime we like and comment under it stuff we wanna say about it. And the rule should be: Only one anime per comment.

Arian Abdolahy

I feel Kids on the slope will be a great replacement for Your lie in april

Suhas M

Not many people said Nodame Cantabile but I'll throw my vote in for it anyways. It's about students in a classical music program in university so I've been curious about what you'd think about how the show portrays college music education. It's also a bit different from Hibike Euphonium since the characters are older.

Prithvirajan Venkateswaran

Code Geass would be dope to see, its one of those where once you see it, its like never gna hit the same

Pork_Katacurry

Link Click is solid

Highside

Nier automata show could be fun to experience that games soundtrack without having to play it

JoeyGuy7

Berserk 1997. One of the best dark fantasies ever

kinetic98

I approve of this recommendation.

Jet Man

Mob psycho 100

JoeyGuy7

Also - Chainsaw Man. And how much of those stuff is on the way in next seasons... ;)

d_swordfish

Heavenly Delusion. Great story, great soundtrack.

Just passing by

Yeah the music is definitely unique and original in this one.

Arian Abdolahy

It also has an amazing soundtrack! Rock, Piano and Jazz as far as I can tell.

Arian Abdolahy

I agree, it’s a nasty way to try to cut something down. Tony has already seen Attack On Titan. You could easily take something out of context from AoT and describe it like this guy did and make it look weird.

Arian Abdolahy

26 episodes

Arian Abdolahy

This might be the most disingenuous way I've seen someone try to cut down a show I've seen outside of Twitter. Even more so considering there are things in Overlord many would find distasteful.

PM

Re: zero would be a awesome series it Soundtrack and sub voice actors Amazing

Med-_-Kit-_-

Samurai Champloo! The hip-hop inspired music and show are creatively intertwined and the story is well thought out. You follow a trio of protagonist who set out across a unique version of ~1700's Japan. The character growth is wonderful and ever present throughout. 23 episodes

Striker 52C

Mob Psycho 100 is fantastic if you haven't already seen it.

Robert

LOL

Maxine

If you want another classic anime after death note you should watch neon genesis evangelion

JoeyGuy7

Definitely vinland saga but violet evergarden is also great because of the emotional story, orchestral music by Evan Call, and beautiful visuals and animation by KyotoAnimation

andoryuguen

I'd say Vinland Saga

V STAN

Dorohedoro or/and Vinland Saga

I LOVE DOROHEDORO

Samurai Samploo, Eighty Six, Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood

Eighty Six/86 please

ZTQuick

Samurai Champloo. The music for the show was in part made by Nujabes. Nujabes was a big influence to Lo-Fi Hip Hop. And thus the show is very iconic for combining hip hop and samurai elements smoothly together. There are definitely very cool bass and drum elements in there. It’s a short anime (26 Episodes). The story has humor, action and depth. The directing and storytelling are in my opinion peak and already visible from the first episode on. When I think of the anime, it reminds me of the feeling of looking up at the starry sky at night or being on a journey, pausing to let my gaze glide over the landscape, watching the wind sweep over it. Oh… and it also has a very iconic and badass drum roll scene!!! With its own soundtrack called „The Million Way of Drum“.

Arian Abdolahy

Yes, mom

d_swordfish

Re Zero is a good one. A lot of character development, interesting story and world, as well as main concept is quite intriguing.

tarantulala

Calm down. It's not happening. Jesus christ

DrumRollTony

I see alot of Made in abyss recommtndations, its good but it has a scene where a 12 year old girl gets strung up naked (i'm not joking) and other similarly weird ass scenes, so probably stay away from that one lol

TheGoblerTrainsMovinIn

Overlord, if your into cocky assholes getting brutally destroyed in the most satisfying ways.

TheGoblerTrainsMovinIn

One of my all time favourites! Would love to see more reactions to this. The OST is playing in my head right now.

OnikeNew

Demon slayer Angel Beats Re zero

Springer

If you're looking for something more fantasy to really scratch that DnD itch, I recommend: Overlord (main character is basically a dungeon boss) Goblin Slayer (its subtly implied the "gods" of the world are dnd players, rolling dice with their lives) Konosuba (absolutely hilarious, and the only anime I've ever rewatched 3 times before). Deathnote is an anime classic that you've seen. For other classics most people know about, I recommend: Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood (there's another version, but Brotherhood is the prefered for most people.) Cowboy Bebop (smooth jazzy space adventure, with one of the coolest protags) Hellsing Ultimate (Brutal animation about vampires and Dracula) Trigun (recently got remastered, and looks amazing)

smileybones

Haven't seen anyone else recommend this show yet, but thought I would throw it out there anyways. March comes in like a Lion: A story about a young Shogi (Japanese chess) professional who's struggling to find his way through life. I love the way the author explores the characters in this show and I felt that the OST did a great job setting the mood. Thanks again for all the reactions!

Bardimayis

86 has such a good story Probably the safest option out there

Jose Maldonado

this would be so great considering kevin penkin

Land Hooman

Made in abyss!!!!!

Land Hooman

Definitely want to check out Vinland Saga. The music in the show is composed by Yutaka Yamada and it just hits hard when you hear the music paired with the scene your watching. The show is great you see some real character development and see how someone changes. Definitely high on my list.

ItsJustAlex

Yea, I know =( But worth a try

d_swordfish

I just realised that we need GTO (Great Teacher Onizuka) here and your decomposition on his motivation, teaching method and process. That would be funny, LOL PS: This is NOT music related

d_swordfish

Putting out there Inuyashiki: Last Hero as a wild card. I know most people haven't even heard of it but it's an insane one season show that really deserves more attention.

Nick K

Golden Kamuy has slowly worked it's way to becoming one of my favorite shows. The story is really good, all the characters are interesting, and sometimes it goes so far into left field that I almost choke laughing. Also weirdly educational and wholesome at times.

Nick K

Now that he's seen some current big name anime, I think it's fitting he dive into the classics like Bebop

Nick K

Mushishi is a good one if you're enjoying the calmer and more introspective Frieren. Madoka Magica for more action - it's pretty bizarre but it's also short and sweet.

Kevin Dong

Golden Kamuy is a weird anime with a sense of humor like Jojo's. But it has a very interesting plot almost similar to a western.

Katakuriko

86 for sure

andwoo

Also I love Vinland Saga but it is like THE most popular show of the last couple years, and I think it would make a lot more sense as a Tier 1 show eventually.

leechy

Echoing "Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad" big time. Great show about music and relationships around bands and the like but in more of a grungy rock way. Major 90s/early 2000s vibes from the animation, soundtrack and characters.

leechy

Made in Abyss

Brandon3681

Re Zero could be a good one

Mikey

I’d recommend Vivy, has an awesome soundtrack and story

kaeleb white

I’m pleasantly surprised to see all the Steins;Gate recommendations in the comments. And I gotta say the same

Marthan

why no "BECK" in this list ?

Walter Brown

Also Vivy Fluorite Eyes Song

Sam

Made in Abyss 86 Vinland Saga FullMetal Alchemist Brotherhood Code Geass Steins Gate Violet Evergarden

Sam

Hard disagree on this (but in a friendly way). And most people are in my camp

Sam

Haruhi Suzumiya anime would be good.

KennuhVT

Hard agree! And it’s short too!

Cswerve

Vinland Saga or Golden Kamuy

Cswerve

Vinland Saga!

Emilio De La Torre

Eighty Six, Hiroyuki Sawano is behind the OST of these show. No more reasons to watch it.

Gabriel Tafur

Made in abyss is amazing and as you know the soundtrack adds to it so well

YikesBradley

Hunter X Hunter would be cool. Maybe OVERLORD if your a fan of DnD.

Ainz Ooal Gown

Oh my gosh, I misread the title at first glance and thought you suggested something more mature that was not quite an anime and a bit of a red flag 😆

Jet Man

Darker than Black for a more mature anime.

Maxine

vivy fluorite eyes song, an incredible thriller that centers on a songstress AI. some of the best animation, story, and music you'll find in a series

plug-in panda

Made in Abyss!!!! PLS

GremlinOverdose

Music theme anime: Nodame Cantabile K-on! Kono Oto Tomare

Hunter x Hunter or Vinland Saga!

OleBrr

Miguel Guzman

Angel Beats

Haruto Yuzuki

Steins,Gate is my personal favorite, I can't not suggest it

Alpora

Vinland saga!!!

Mirrorline

Baki if you want something crazy like JoJo.

Justin Dodge

Since I am not really into ranking shows I’m just gonna list a couple shows I think would be interesting, the order is not reflective of what I think to be “better”: Vinland Saga Made in Abyss Steins;Gate Samurai Champloo Hunter x Hunter (probably too long)

Klarin Black

Beck (28 Episodes)

GradMustang

I recommend Vinland Saga (48 episodes) or Baccano! (16 episodes).

Derek

Vinland Saga

Jinx1250

Noragami has two Season

Med-_-Kit-_-

Violet Evergarden, is quite emotional, and the composer is Frieren's composer. Beautiful tracks confirmed.

ML Snow

Kids on the Slope, anime about a high school Jazz group. Or Samurai Champloo , an older anime in feudal Japan of a group of idiots on a journey to find an illusive man who smells of Sunflowers

AntonJ0™

86! Eighty Six! 👍👍

Zey

Why not both lol, I just didn't know if Tony would do a movie on the channel.

Ethroden

+1 for steins gate, it is my favorite of all time.

Alpora

I was thinking I might be the only one that would consider he watch GitS. If anything, he should consider the original movie.

Jet Man

Eighty Six! 23 episodes, great story, one of my all time favorites, but also an amazing soundtrack. The soundtrack was done by Hiroyuki Sawano (who of course, needs no introduction) and Kohta Yamamoto, the dynamic duo behind Season 4 of Attack on Titan's soundtrack.

Benjamin Callaghan

Dororo please!

javier calderon

If you gonna do "Fullmetal Alchemist" just keep in mind: 2003 version is WAY better than "brotherhood". Yea, FMA'03 is not a "canon", it was out when manga not ready and FMAB is "true canon story with logical ending" blah blah blah. Just saying as person who watched both versions - FMA'03 is cooler, has deeper characters relationships, more focused on drama than on "funny chibi-like stuff" and it hooks you emotionaly in the finale the way FMAB not able to do. Guys who like Brotherhood, that's just my humble opinion =)

d_swordfish

+1 for Violet Evergarden. Hearing him gush about Evan Call's work in Frieren solidifies that one for me.

WuYixiang

Vinland Saga (non-music) OR Kids on the Slope (music related)

Jet Man

One that’s currently airing is Undead Unluck

MWS

You should watch **Stein's Gate** if you want a more emotional and less action oriented anime. It is also very very highly rated.

JujutsuKaisenFan

Eighty Six - 23 Episodes (for the story and action) Demon Slayer - 48 episodes, 1 movie (for the animation and action) Violet Evergarden - 12 Episodes, 2 Movies (for the soundtrack) Blue Lock - 24 Episodes, or Haikyuu - 85 episodes (for your first sports anime) Steins Gate - 47 episodes or Summertime Render - 25 episodes (for time travel)

Arsenic805

That would be fun

Jet Man

I would recommend HxH if you want a long watch and for a shorter one Re: zero or demon or for a even shorter one One Punch Man

Cesar Ortiz

Eminence in shadow is a great pick too

Causing60

Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Baccano!, Ghost In The Shell Stand Alone Complex, Trigun, Wolfs Rain, Afro Samurai, and Hunter X Hunter(2011)

Ethroden

vinland saga

rune kongstad larsen

Or Samurai Champloo. The musical journey is cool and mellow

Walt D

Blue Giant the movie

zewong choi

FMAB you will flip

Walt D

1) Cowboy bebop 2) Samurai Champloo 3) Vinland Saga 4) One punch man 5) Steins Gate 6) Elfen Lied 7) Neon Genesis Evangelion - /* Let's push it guys, to see on what episode Tony will give up, ahahaha */

d_swordfish

Beck (or Mongolian chop squad) is my favorite music related anime. It's from 2004 so some parts might not have aged well. I watched it in Japanese but I've heard that a lot of people prefer the dub version

Phrygian

Hajime No Ippo

Joshua Fondren

Please oh please watch Violet evergarden.

Hugo Abilleira

You've already reacted to some Made in Abyss OST, but there's plenty more beautiful ones and they're even better in the context of the show.

notmymain

I agree. If you want to keep with music related anime, Kids on the Slope is a great choice. Never seen it myself, only clips, but would be very interested.

Jet Man

My hero academia is gotta be a simple watch and you should watch it in dub

Bryanterra456

Is it finally time for Cowboy Bepop, perhaps.

LewdProxy

Re:Zero would probably be up your alley

Danyul

Dorohedoro would be great. A very dark anime whose character designs were inspired by the Slipknot band members. the anime is mysterious, dark and funny. I think it would be very good reaction material.

Ryuk

Maho Shoujo Madoka Magica (12 episodes + 1 movie and another coming soon on 2024)

JackTheDaniels

One Punch Man

SuperKamiSenzuBean

Shows with musical themes: * Symphogear (musical magical girls) * K-On! (light music club activities) * Sora no Wo To (military bugles) Other top tier soundtracks: * Violet Evergarden (Evan Call - Frieren OST) * Girls und Panzer (military marches) * Princess Principal (Yuki Kajiura - Sword Art Online)

WuYixiang

Kids on the slope could be a great pick for you because it's centered mainly on jazz music and it's only 13 episodes

FuturHamster

Unicorn Gundam (OVA) for the music.

Damiester

Demon Slayer

makotheQ60
