Sorry about the hiatus of updates! So uh... I'm starting learning 3D by myself this week, and this head sculpt is the first 3D model I've ever made. The available tools are so advanced and intuitive to use nowadays! I can even make models for myself as art references XD
I started sculpting with a base mesh (built-in with Mudbox) like this:

The software is Mudbox, not the famous Zbrush which seems harder to learn and too expensive for a mere starter. And why am I suddenly trying 3D? I'm doing a collab with another artist for a DanCre project, which is to recreate this DanCre work in 3D -- to be more precise, I was commissioned by her, for providing 2D concepts, and she handles the 3D work. ( Here's her Twitter. You can call her Rey :) )
Rey is studying environment modeling, and is a hobbyist of character sculpting. After some discussions, she had stated being unfamiliar with human anatomy and shown some screen-caps of current progress(which we decided not to share yet). So I decided to try sculpting, for providing the base mesh with clean and defined anatomy, then she will add designs+refine the models.
We are still not sure if this workflow will work, but doing these is really fun, I'll definitely try to learn more 3D and consider using it as a tool to help with my 2D artworks. BTW, her previous fan project took 5 months, so this one will take much longer. *sweat*
All the concepts are WIPs. Credo's design is clean & simple, but Dante's part is much harder. After some attempts on PC, I decided to doodle on papers for quickly grasping ideas. Now I plan to do the 3D full-body base sculpt (no design & clothes), and it might help the 2D design by overpainting on the 3D models.

又隔了一陣子沒更新!這次是上來報告...我入門3D啦!(想當然爾只能先自學)上面截圖是叭子首度嘗試捏3D的結果,基本是想要捏Credo的臉蛋。本以為電腦跑不動軟體,但目前為止都還蠻順利的,現在的3D軟體真是越來越方便&容易上手,搞不好以後需要啥參考素材都可以自己捏出來XD

使用的軟體是Mudbox,不是很貴又比較難入門的Zbrush。所以說,為啥突然決定要自己捏頭雕?之前提過,我目前正和同人雕塑師一同進行企劃,目標是把這張圖轉為3D作品,由我負責提供2D概念圖,對方負責3D雕塑。更精確地說,我是受委託的一方,所以整個企劃進度、是以委託人排得出的空暇時間為主。(這裡是委託人的推特~可以稱她為Rey)
Rey的主修為製作環境模型,而捏角色算是她的個人興趣,在討論製作進度時,她提到自己對人物結構的掌握比較生疏,也提供一些製作中的截圖(因為進度不多,暫時就不分享上來)。於是我想,若能由我提供含有清楚肌肉結構的基礎模型,再交給她加上各種設計元素+進行細化,也許能省去不少討論與修改的時間。
目前還不確定這個流程行不行得通,不管如何,捏這些模型仍然是很有趣的體驗,未來我也想繼續學習捏人物和生物類的3D雕塑,做為2D繪畫的參考素材。順帶一提,Rey的上一個企劃(五代Vergil胸像,可從推特看到)花了她五個月製作,所以這個企畫結果...還很有得等XD
貼上來的都還是未完成狀態,Credo的設計相對地單純,Dante的部份就比較痛扣,在電腦上畫到很卡,決定先在紙上快速塗鴉尋找靈感。目前有打算捏出角色未穿衣(欸)的身體,想想應該也可以在畫三視圖時派上用場:P
